So when are we going to get real traits?
Warrior… Guardian… apples… oranges…
I’m seeing a slight disparity here.
Confirmation Bias Fallacy. You’re seeing a slight disparity because you’re cherry picking Warrior Traits and Guardian Traits in order to confirm your bias that Guardian traits are somehow lacking.
Traits you should be looking at for a better view of Guardian trait synergy and cornerstone traits for builds:
- Eternal Spirit
- Renewed Justice
- Right-Hand Strength
- Altruistic Healing
- Monk’s Focus
- Vigorous Precision
- Empowering Might
- Supreme Justice
- Absolute Resolution
If you want to illustrate the disparity between Warrior and Guardian traits, the aforementioned list is just a small sampling of the sort of powerful Traits Guardians enjoy which are wholly unavailable to Warriors, for very good reason (that reason being Warriors aren’t Guardians.)
Guardians have great traits, just perhaps not so much in the zeal line. You have builds utilizing all sorts of them in radiance, valor, honor, and virtues.
What I miss is the -20% CD time on Guardian traits.

Would someone please make this man lots of cookies and mail them to him?
-Except Warriors Also have a trait similar to Monk’s Focus
-Eternal spirits range is completely borked allowing its usefulness to be at about maybe 600 if you’re lucky
-Renewed justice gives a nice touch to recharging VoJ but there’s plenty of traits buffing the adrenaline line
-Right-Hand Strength is awesome, can’t argue that one.
-Alturistic Healing is good, but with recent nerfs, it’s usefulness has gone down quite a bit.
-Vigorous precision is awesome too, can’t tell you how many times I’ve had 10 seconds of vigor due to critting 5 mobs multiple times with whirling wrath.
-Empowering Might is ok…just when I found out it had a 1 second cd, that brought it down a notch for me.
-I don’t think supreme justice is worth it, especially as a master trait. Every 4th swing is nice but since it only lasts 1 1/2 seconds, just doesn’t seem like a viable choice over maybe stability from courage or three conditions removed from resolve.
-Read above about absolute resolution. =)
Granted there’s quite a few nice traits, this doesn’t change the fact that when you give another class similar traits with less power that it’s ok. It doesn’t make sense.
warriors’ theme is that they are weapon masters. It makes sense their traits are better when it comes to weapons.
I dont know much about warrior traits but a direct comparison isnt a fair assessment. Im not saying youre wrong, im saying your way of backing up your claim is.
There are several other things that differenitiate both classes that a direct comparison between similar traits isnt going to work. Like someone said earlier, apples and oranges.
I agree, and it makes some sense except you shouldn’t give similar traits to each class and then give another a weaker version because your class is supposedly a master of said traits. Being a master of weapons also makes this assessment that more confusing. Each class utilizes a variety of weapons, why should one be able to use them with greater strength?
+5% damage with [weapon] traits are brutally uninteresting. I hate their existence on principle. They’re exactly the sort of “filler” specialization that made Blizzard finally ditch their talent trees and that was supposedly part of the underlying decision to go with the trait lines we have today. ANet has said that warriors are basically the one class who are more or less where they want to be, and I personally believe part of that is because they have a bunch of viable builds and very few boring, minor passive upgrade traits.
If those +5% damage traits aren’t glorified placeholders that will be replaced with something actually viable and interesting in the relatively near future, then I’m going to be extremely disappointed in ANet.

The OP forgot to add %100 immunity to damage and %100 uptime to stability and swiftness boon. KTHX.
Granted guardians have some amazing traits, valor and honor lines are very strong imho.
But yes, Zeal is by far the weakest trait line and 5% more damage is pretty much useless as far as major traits go. I don’t know any guardians that take Zeal past 10. I get that they are trying to lower the dps of guardians because of survivability, but I wish they would at least add supporty type effects to those traits. It should be 5% damage and something else, considering most other classes that are not warrior get 10% more damage and/or effects that are much more beneficial.
