What trait would u drop for DH?
…….. Quite.
Doesn’t Virtues get replaced automatically?
Doesn’t Virtues get replaced automatically?
No.
I’ll run DH/Virtues/Valor. Meditation Dragonhunter
None.
/15charrs
None.
I already knew I was going burn guard with GS/Scepter/Sword variant. The Bow (or traps) wouldn’t do much justice, but I am curious how that playstyle would work. As for DPS Guard, I see myself replacing Zeal and going Bow+Hammer. The virtue changes are just too good.
Rank: Top 250 since Season 2
#5 best gerdien in wurld
radiance/Virtues/DH is the best I can see if going the DH route
and give up on meditation traits?
imo if i spec into DH, I’m going Valor/Virtues/DH
It’s sad but a guard needs virtue and valor.
^nooooot exactly.
In most game modes I likely won’t drop anything for it as it seems kinda meh.
However in wvw I often roll with a few friends who have rangers & thieves.
In that case I may occasionally drop valor/honor for it and roll as a radiance, virtues/DH glass cannon with full traps.
Even then though it will just be so we can all stack traps at a breach and laugh as people get melted by AOE burn, poison, bleed, knock down, cripple with stacks of burning/bleeding being well over 30.
Dragonhunter Randiance Virtues is my goal. Already have a full sinister gear set ready and waiting for it.
DH line is a nerf line, not a trait line.
it means THEY got me for " neg criticism in clever disguise".
Know that it has been fun and I love ya all.
In PvE, I would almost say drop zeal in favor of Hunter/Radiance/Virtues. Hunter and Radiance have a lot of synergy together through Spears of Justice, and the versatility of Virtues is too good to pass up. Sorry Zeal :\
Though if no utility was needed I could maybe see dropping virtues…maybe. The 15% from Big Game Hunter seems like a more reliable damage boost over something like Unscathed Contender.
I may try valor/virtues/DH, but I’ll likely stay valor/virtues/radiance. I really like my 5 blinds and meditations.
My other guard may become a DH/radiance/virtues sinister bow hammer trapper, but I’m not sold on that yet.
Ashen Mistwalker: WvW Tank/Crit Revenant
Oaken Earthlore: WvW Medi/Bunker Guardian
The trap trait must also have 20% CDR as guardians’ trap CD looks painfully long for the effect. Since bleeding damage is nerfed per stack for a higher stack cap, a few stack by trap isn’t going to make any difference. So it’s a pretty meh trait even if you pick traps for utility.

Cover your ears zerkers … even better, if LB has decent weapon coefficients, you can probably have very good uptime on UC and BGH simultaneously, along with the Pure of Sight trait. Camping LB might be a thing, to the dismay of people that don’t like ranged campers.

If the trait line goes live as it was introduced, I dont see myself playing DH in any game mode. Just so weak and lacking synergies compared to other lines so far
the traits I’m taking for DH so far looks to be Soaring Devastation, The stability on LB #2 and Heavy Light (knockback with 300 range).
other than the VoR gap closer and having access to an actual range wep, the trait line itself seems pretty underwhelming. Heck there’s not even a LB damage/CDR trait, 60 sec cooldown on LB5? lolwut
I’m gonna say it really depends on what they do with that first GM trait of the DH spec. (Hunter’s Fortification: Apply protection in an area when you activate virtues). It’s obviously fairly weak, and boring as is, but they did say that this trait would likely see change before HoT ships, so fingers crossed!
I’m thinking they might make shelter a consecration though by the time HoT ships (QQ more, but this is most likely what they’ll do unless they just leave it unclassified). In that case, abandoning the traditional med-guard in favor of Radiance/Virtues/DH might be fun to toy around with! Purging flames, f2 (x2 with renewed focus), and wall of reflection + projectile finishers for condi cleanse, either a trap for more cc, or CoP for stunbreak/more cleanse, and primary damage coming from Longbow 2 + sword 3+ torch 4. Survivability will come from being able to utilize WoR, and distancing well, and landing primary damage skills at the right times. Chasing some1 would probably look like sword 2 + 1 spam + f2 immob + sword 3 + weapon swap, and longbow them down.

Having a ranged weapon does not mean the player should camp at range (i.e. Staff Ele, Grenade Engi). Even if the longbow proves to be worth the slot in optimized PvE, the guardian would still be in melee.
No, you’re right. Having a ranged weapon alone does not indicate ranged camping. Massive damage multipliers on a ranged weapon will be enough to make it happen. There is no such thing as what players should do, unless of course you’re going to pay them for their time to play the way you think they should.
I know you’re going to tell me you can Maintain UC at melee range … OK, but some players don’t and they will camp ranged. You WILL see this kind of build happen and if Anet allow it, no doubt it will challenge current builds for top damage spots in PVE … at ranged even. That should boil some blood. I’m actually very keen to try a DH/Virt/Zeal in PVE with LB .. and probably at ranged to get Pure of Sight multiplier as well. Should be fun stuff.

That’s fair if the player cannot maintain UC in melee range. In that case they should still be close enough to the party to receive Might from the PS warrior (I’d say banners, but they have a big enough range to that it shouldn’t matter all that much). You’ve never necessarily needed to be right in an enemy’s face…but you should always be close enough to take full advantage of your party’s buffs.
I speak of “should” as in what will assist in accomplishing goals in the most efficient manner. No, I’m not going to pay them to play the way I want to, but I do have and recruit players who want to play that way.

Easy, none of them. I am not buying the overpriced expansion. So won’t have access to the new “feature heavy” stuff.
