any Unscathed Contender group comps?
Regardless of how it works, I don’t think you will get a very objective answer.
Personally. I never use it. It’s not dependable.
hmm…maybe after the fractal patch/runes of resistance? idk that seems kinda iffy. It could work for some dungeons but mainly for lighter pve scenarios. i wouldn’t see this working in Wvw very well.
It’s not a very good trait. Any direct damage removes Aegis and Gw2 is full of AoE attacks.
I could see it working for a build that uses Sword or Judge’s intervention where you can get the drop on someone. Though, take any damage and it’s basically a useless trait afterwards.
Standart trait picked in a lot of dungeon dps builds. It´s working in most “speedrun” gruops.

It would be nice pair with a bane signet guardian of some sort lol.
Makonne – Hybrid Regen Ranger
It’s a commonly used trait. It’s not so much of a group comp issue as it is a damage avoidance issue. You just need to know when to dodge. It’s less useful against trash monsters for that reason – sometimes, you’re just gonna get hit, end of story. Against many bosses though it works very well.

Honestly, it’s a gimmick trait. The purpose of aegis is to block large single-hit burst damage attacks; this trait encourages players to burn through their aegis skills and their dodges when it isn’t needed, and consecration duration/cooldown for PvE and retal duration for PvP is a much better option IMO.
I’ve never used it because as said above its not reliable at all. I would consider it if they say dropped it to 10% and made it “when under the affects of virtue of courage”

Consecration is better… when you are using consecrations. One of those trait spots that you can swap things for different situation.
As for PvP, it’s useful in mediation burst builds where you attempt to kill an opponent before they can hit you, but it’s useless after the initial burst as you would expect.
If aegis wasn’t removed when blocking with the mace and focus, it would be a lot more useful.
It’s good because of its low placement in a useful trait line, allowing easy swapping around with consecration traits as the situation requires.
Those who swear by it in PvE will undoutably also know exactly what percentage of time your are required to keep aegis up to make it worthwhile slotting.
I personally use it as an on-demand kicker for burst builds, but it requires you to time aegis around your combo cooldowns which obviously makes the block less useful as an active defense
I take it when I don’t need MoC during fractals, I also always have it on for any dungeon unless I REALLY need MoC
With the new trait, Communal Defense, that plus mace with multiple guardians should have some ridiculous aegis flying around, just a thought. Or really probably wouldn’t even need to stick to mace with multiple guards.
Well, the problem with that is the Aegis from Communal Defense is on a fairly short timer, and Mace is not a DPS weapon. So you aren’t getting the full benefit from Communal + Unscathed unless you swap to a decent DPS weapon. It might make Mace/Hammer swaps pretty good though. Actually, if anything, it’s gonna make Focus an even bigger improvement over Shield. Disappointing.

Don’t get me wrong, i’m stretching, just saying could be some synergy there, especially with multiple guards around doing the same thing.
Also the range is only 360, which is pitiful. No one stays within 360 unless you’re stacking.
