pvp build advice
Also, I have never exactly heard of people bursting people down with staff, it just doesn’t happen and unless you are bunkering its not worth taking in sPvP imo ^^
ya staff is definitely a defensive/support weapon, i’m using it for the 12 might and the swiftness.
Natsu thank you for the build I changed a couple of things in mine to get a bit more healing, hopefully it will help when i get hit by a minion master and condimance at the same time.
and honestly opinions on whether the runes would help would be appreciated, i don’t really want to give up the 12 might.
I play that build, in spvp:

To remove conditions you can use your meditations, you have +20% damage when you attack enemy whit burning, and your blind give vulnerability, granting you more damage. 5 in Honor to obtain Vigor, that’s a good way to let you avoid enemy attack by dodge.
Whit that build you must be able to active Virtue of Courage, Shelter and Renewed Focus to block incombing damages and use blinds to avoid enemy attacks, but your damage is very high and you can heal yourself.
That’s the best dps build for Guardian I’ve ever try. You need to learn how to play to use that build properly.
I tried Hammer instead of GS and I love it. Complements sword really way, because it has AoE damage, protection, a good immobilize and kitten combos with JI.
AAs have roughly the same dps: Against heavy golem Hammer deals 3531/2,25 = 1569 dps, while Sword deals 1729 dps, without counting crits. I use Powerful Blades though.
Considering I use right-handed strength, sword shouls have a bit higher dps. With 49% base crit chance (64% from sword) and 50% crit damage, we get 2338 dps with hammer AA, 2836 dps with sword.
On one hand, hammer AA is less effective in small fights, where the enemy can just walk away from your damage, while Sword’s high dps is almost exclusively single target. This is where sword shines due to its brutal AA, while hammer gives great support thanks to openings like JI+RoW+Banish+Mighty Blow+Chains of Light, then swap and unload Zealot Defense.
It also works better than scepter, because with scepter you should use Immobilize, then wrath, then swap, and you won’t be able to land the whole sword burst, or the enemy will walk away from wrath. Mighty blow has less problems landing overall.
In teamfights, you have now the chance of being a bit more useful thanks to the fact you have now an AoE weapon with some cc, and can give high protection uptime to yourself and allies. Considering you are meditation, thus extremely squishy, you NEED that buff. It’s like increasing your armor by 50%, thus going from 2427 to 3640. Or even more if you use Valor IV trait (from 2567 to 3850).
Oh, you can also act as a decapper with hammer, using Banish+JI during animation, then Chains of Light and Ring of Warding, taking your opponent out of the point for some time. Or you can just chew through the point holder, if he isn’t a MM necro or a guardian.
because he doesn’t know it himself
