The trap combos you can do is pretty amazing. The condi damage makes me excited to try it.
Really liked traps seeing them in action. Both some traits and skills definitely are cool with some nice applications in PvP and Dungeons.
Still don’t like the name. When they said they take the role of witch hunters, my immediate thought was Inquisitor so something like that would be much cooler.

If by useless you mean able to apply 25 stacks of vulnerability, 10 stacks of bleed, and heavy burning damage for the opponent even just walking on point, then yea, I agree.

The class does for sure look cool, I just think people like myself in open world pve may not enjoy the traps other then that though the lb looks to be a solid weapon. Plus the knock backs and new f1 and f2 skills though will work nice paired with lb.
After watching the stream i love the changes and cant wait to play him BUT i still think the name is out of place and that traps should be renamed to wards or something like that to fit the Guardian theme.

After seeing the “traps” I think they are only called traps so they won’t need to make there own runes. Was just a symbol on the ground. Looked like necromancer staff skills

Well, that’s so grossly OP that I’m sure it’s going to get nerfed. Probably they haven’t settled on the new burning damage yet.
I like how this looks, the only bad thing i got from the stream are the ridiculous visual effects that clutter the screen. The biggest offender is the ray of judgment trap (forgot the actual name, the one that pulses vulnerability in a beam), it just seams unnecessary.
Imagine 3 dragonhunters (i want it renamed to zerghunter for reasons) laying down 3 roj traps and then a bunch of people trigger them all at once.

My only problem with traps is that they don’t trigger against structures (Tequatal, TT, etc) other than that they were amazing espeially since the guardians only had 3 utilities that dealt direct damage until now.

They could fix that by just changing the runes to apply to “wards” (or whatever they should rename them) too.

How am I going to heal during any champion at range?
The “Test of Faith” (the one where the swords spring up and stop you from leaving) seems pretty situational, but could offer some great play where you put all but the healing skill down, but Dragon’s Maw looks like an outright better version of it. They’d have 25 stacks of vulnerability combined with a high damage whirling and unable to leave if you use Dragon’s Maw + Procession of Blades + Light’s Judgement. Highly useful when stacking IMO. The new dungeon meta could be Shelter + WoR + Procession of Blades + Light’s Judgement and Dragon’s Maw.

Traps have too long CD and don’t get much traited benefits,actually the elite specialisation traits look basic. The potential is there tough.

Sounds quite amazing for wvw/pvp.
+Really nice aoe burst damage (4.2k burn and 2.4k bleed right?)
+We finally get more cc, even though most of it is point blank aoe.
+Traps should be invisible for enemies finally.
+Anti invisibility trap and snare traps, great for ambushes and tactical preparation.
+Stealth for us.
~Trap heal needs your enemies to walk over it to trigger the 6,4k heal. Initial heal is 1.5k. Quite powerful if it’s triggered, but nigh worthless if they don’t trigger it.
-Tether looks quite bad, as a single movement skill will end it.
For pve though, it’s pretty much useless.
-The bow shines more against a pack of monsters, but most pve content is vs one boss.
-Defiance means most bosses won’t care about our new caging mechanics either.
-Far too lengthy cooldowns on utilities/longbow 5 (45s-60s).
-Condi damage is still in a bad spot for pve due to a lack of damage conditions on weapon skills.
-Heavy light is going to be the pinnacle of open world trolling.
+Fragment of faith, 5x aegis for solo play? along with the burn on block trait? should be very interesting for solo runs.

GS on guardian is lacking some real CC, the specialization could really change the PvP scenario and not to mention the extra mobility and also I could see a good condition build arising as well.
I wonder how they’ll balance these for wvw – some of them look insanely powerful ( especially if the tomes also get the proposed rework ).

yes i am bit famous now thanks to helseth of trying out builds and comparing them to the meta
helseth said it on the condi mesmer build (maybe on my game also. dont care) . so maybe he would think of this condi guard also as crap.

Longbow is just flat out amazing. Lower the cooldown on 5 and it’s just amazing-er.
traps in wvw can be great for roaming with traps rune and hybrid dmg
in group you wanna take power zerk and direct dmg abilities
in pvp with all the cc of the ele, engi, hammer warrior, dont know if it would shift to the guardian
but sure i can see now hammer/lb with vulnerability trap for insane cc lockdown for 12 sec with huge dmg. combine with meditation
i expect it to get nerfed since it seems to strong in its current incarnation. they even said its good to start strong and whittle down.
besides that overall the skill functionality looks great. but yeah those numbers will be nerfed no doubt about it.
I personally love the visual effects of the new skills. They may obstruct some view of the Dragonhunter’s character animations but the visual effects of the skills are all VERY unique and easily identifiable.

The name now makes sense after they explain it.
Guardians become some kind of Witch-Hunter, which is fitting for the profession.
However, since there are no Witches in Tyria, they named it Dragon-Hunter instead.
Witches were once considered a source of evil. In Tyria though, Dragons currently hold that position.
This is like asking why there is no “Guild Wars” in Guild Wars. The game was named Guild Wars for a different Lore-related reason.
Ok so it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Yes the name still makes no sense….but anyways.
Longbow skills.
I personally think the auto attack needs a buff, looked much weaker then a ranger and without the pet tanking we need a little more damage even though the arrow can pierce one enemy behind.2 skill looked pretty nice. Good damage. Aoe power shot I can live with.
3 skill shoots an arrow that blocks projectiles and causes blind. Still have our blind which is nice!
4 skill the ground targeting trap? Gives allies vigor and burns foes. I think this will be sort of useless with the new f1 skill, really just gives allies vigor.
The 5 skill. As shown in the preview a barrage that locks up to 5 people in a fence. Looks great but video showed a 60 second cooldown. If that’s the case way to long.
Overall I did like the longbow but I ton it needs some tweaking. Coming from being an open world pver I have nothing good to say about the heal, or the traps, or elite skill.
Heal will be useless unless approaching bosses in melee and dropping it down other traps did nice aoe damage, fast cast times, great stacks of bleeds and vunurability. However will be awful in pve. Amazing in wvw though I think.

I must say I am extremely disappointed in the guardian elite spec. Even the best features trait wise and skill wise seem lackluster. This all after they dropped chronometer on us. They did such a great job with that elite spec. traitwise, skillwise, everything (the name included) just made sense and left you eager to play it. Why no love for us guardians =(. I main guardian and was epically saddened by the live stream. This whole concept of traps on a guardian makes no sense. It feels like it was something they were working on for rangers didnt like it and so edited slightly for guardians. They could do much better.
Spear of justice looks nice.
Wings of resolve was kind of disappointing, was really hoping for a reduced CD or increased healing given the nerf to the AOE size on the heal.
Shield of courage looked nice.
Puncture shot looked alright, damage was a little low however.
True shot looked fantastic.
Deflecting shot seemed really niche. Would be nice if they made it block projectiles & count as a block instead of simply destroying projectiles.
Symbol of energy, liked the damage & the burn. But vigor ? I think retaliation would be better.
Hunters ward. Would much prefer an immobilize over a ward (stability makes wards a joke). The CD also seemed excessive for something that could be by & large avoided.
Purification, don’t like relying on an enemy to trigger a heal. It also discourages leaving a point where you set it up.
Fragments of faith, looked nice & could have nice synergy with traits. CD was a bit excessive. (maybe lower number of fragments for lower CD)
Test of Faith, Looked intrusting. Again though CD seemed excessive given that its just a damage & cripple (maybe add in some bleeding at base or lower the CD.)
Procession of Blades, looked quite nice. Again however CD seemed excessive (why are they all so long)
Lights Judgment. Finally one worth the CD.
Dragons Maw. Love most of it but again stability will make it moot. Would be great if it did immobilize instead of a ward/barrier.
Mechanics are fine, I actually liked the entire LB skillset, and the traps look visually appealing.. and they might prove interesting to play, can’t complain that much..
But the spec name is still dreadful and impossible to deal with..
