I was reading about various thief skills and I found something interesting.

When stealing from a Mesmer a Thief gets the skill “consume plasma” which nets them 10s of Protection, Regeneration, Vigor, Might, Fury, Swiftness, and Aegis, as well as 3s Stability and 5s Retaliation. Could Mimic be used to get all of the boons for ourselves? (Besides the usual usefulness on Guardians and Elementalists of course)

I know this usage is extremely situational even in pvp. But the thought occurred to me because I usually have one spare utility slot(usually for condi cleanse or portal).

What do you think?

Between blink, decoy, condi cleanse, portal, glamours, mirror images and even signets… I think it’s hard to justify mimic in its current state at all, just to use it for a very specific purpose that might only happen very rarely.

Its exactly as you said. There are situations where Mimic could work, but like Feedback, Illusion of Life and so many others.. There’s just better options available and vying for that precious utility slot. Hell, Mimic + Arcane Thievery + Signet of Inspiration likely was anets idea behind the new mimic… And that’s just a recipe for disaster. X.x

You’re dangerously close to being added to the list of people lined up to be executed for the current state of Mimic. Anet Devs and whoever approved it being at the top. I’d back away slowly and not make eye contact if I were you.

(Just so you know, OP, Buton -Ross- had this awesome zerg busting build that relied on the old Mimic.. It went extinct with this craptastic change.)

For the OP, but you probably dont get half of the warnings coming to you, Chaos.

I really miss the old mimic.

Mimic does work on thief when they have all the boons but the problem is that they can easily steal yours.

Mimic also has a long CD that means you have to use it at the most optimal time…

All the boon spam classes can also continuously re apply their boons which typically have short durations on them… Mimic isn’t a good option against these as it only puts you on equal footing for a few seconds…

The current mimic doesn’t strip boons, which is far more important than copying them.
