About Spatial Surge Damage
I understand your concern about the misconception about GS AA but if you think about it, so is it quite logical. What you see on the screen will always be the sum of one skill, while the combat log will show each individual hit.
I would think it’s designed after a psycological point of view. People would feel it’s more enjoyable to see higher numbers on the screen than sevral small numbers.
I thought everyone knew that any time a skill hits multiple times the number you see consists of all the attacks combined. Thats why the number keeps changing instead of creating a new floating number.
I know the game doesn’t explain that any where, its just gamer instinct to know this kind of thing.
To me, if’s obvious. Multi-hit combos cause one number that centered over our target to get bigger. Multiple hits that aren’t linked are all off-center and appear almost anywhere in the area immediately above our target.
Yeah you would THINK it would be obvious, however that is not the case and they just use anything they can get their fingers on to say we are overpowered.
OP! Nerf all the mesmers!

Eh… maybe I’m in the minority, but I always understood summed-up damage works this way. That’s how summed-up damage works, after all.

I knew this since beta.
It’s quite simple to understand, really. I remember summoning a Phantasmal Duelist, and noticed ever bullet did the same damage… If it really added damage 8 times it would simply 1-shot everything >_>.
Also, Confusing Images is really weird, it’s the only exception in multi hit skills that doesn’t sum up the damage >_<

I think it’s because it’s not truly a multi-hit, probably because a multihit is a single attack in the game engine, so it could only apply a condition at a single point outside of external factors such as procs or combos.
While Confusing Images is 5 attacks, spaced apart, each applying 1 stack of Confusion.

Warrior 1h Sword Burst Skill is the counterpart to your argument assuming all the skills were coded by people on the same wavelength.
