Newb question:
Mistrust tooltip states that “Whenever you interrupt a foe, inflict 2 stacks of confusion in an area around them.” Similarly rune of perplexity "when you interrupt a foe, cause 5 stacks of confusion for 8 seconds. "

So when the cast is treated as an interruption? Does your opponent has to be in the middle of casting animation ? Will it work as an opener of the combat when technically you are not interrupting anything?

When you interrupt something.

This is, indeed, when you’re able to interrupt something.

So you’re asking whether an on-interrupt proc will work if you don’t interrupt anything?

Interrupts require a thing to interrupt. If you just randomly hit someone with a daze, you’re not interrupting them.

Interrupts are dangerous va players, but much weaker vs monsters. AI mobs don’t activate skills very often, and when they do it’s usually an instantaneous skill that is difficult to time an interrupt correctly with. GW1 meanders had a much better system. Enemy monsters had a cast timer bar, which we could see and know we could interrupt within that window. Now it’s just spam spam spam I got high cholesterol!

Daze, knockdown, fear, taunt, pushback, and stun will interrupt. That’s something people don’t post on the forums usually.

Certain “small mobs” are “knocked back” a little when you damage them, maybe that’s what you are talking about?

Yeah I noticed that too Gobbes. Kinda a weird thing.

I kinda guessed it happened with menders because asking people to use skills to interrupt is too much. No, bear bowing doesn’t count, they’re not doing it on purpose -.-

It really looks like they are interrupted. They move back a moment and their skill animation gets cut off. Maybe it’s a glitch, maybe its meant to be that way. All I know is that occasionally a good block stops an enemy skill.

some mobs are programmed to get interrupted by more than just dazes, stuns, pulls, knockdown, sink etc – for example the menders get interrupted by pure dmg, maybe the spiders too since all our blocks deal dmg.

It really looks like they are interrupted. They move back a moment and their skill animation gets cut off. Maybe it’s a glitch, maybe its meant to be that way. All I know is that occasionally a good block stops an enemy skill.

I believe its intended to give a bit more flavour in pve, another example of this is cows can get “feared” in Queensdale when they take damage.
Hopefully we see more of this in HoT contents.. a saving grace for interrupt specs as breakbar mechanic seems to deny interrupt entirely.
