Hey dear community,

i searched the forum a bit but couldn’t quite find a match for my question. So i hope you will be so friendly and answer some of my questions.

Since the Kasmeer staff came out, i dusted off my mesmer and wanted to play her as a solo roamer in WvW! So my questions are:

1) Is a Soloroamer mesmer with staff viable in WvW?
2) Could you give me some tips about playing staff mesmer?
3) Do you even have a build ready? I tried to play around with traits, but i dont really get satisfied ^^
4) What to use as offhand-items? I went zepter and torch.

I would enjoy to read some answers of you!

A staff +Sceptre/Torch roaming build hmm,

If you want to run as a condition build with a ton of survivability, have a look in my signature for my Blackwater build, might be just what you are looking for.

1: Staff is very viable, depending on your play style an which build you want to use.

2: Generally about keeping your distance, and using phase retreat when you need to, to get out of attack range from stuns or to put some distance between you and your opponent.

3:The staff is generally more of a condition weapon, but also works well in a shatter/power build, there should be some around the forums somewhere ^^

4:Offhands depend on the build, with a shatter, probably something like sword/sword, or sword/pistol. Most condition builds would go sword/pistol or sceptre/torch, or sword/torch, or sceptre/pistol.

concerning the armor, i will have to rebuild it a little bit; atm i have carrion on it and seems i need the crits out of this build…

i’ve watched some of your videos! they are pretty cool! but another question: would this build work (with some adeptions) also for smallscale groups or zerg?!

The question comes and goes, its kind of “meh” for a Zerg situation, I think there were a couple of good builds meant for zerging around If you can find them, but otherwise, my Blackwater build was never intended to be used in a zerg situation.

For small scale groups 3-10 I usually don’t have too much of a problem using it, but the large the scale gets, the worse off it will do.

You can mess around with ’’op’’ perplexity runes. (They’re quite balanced in large groups though…)
I play confusion spreader with perplexity runes, shatter and staff / sword-focus.
The build is on my twitch channel.

I find builds like the Blackwater to do OK in large disorganized fights. If you find yourself in a blob however, you’ll probably be wishing for something else.

i play a staff build with prismatic understanding.

Staff / Sword/Torch

its very good on solo roamig and small group fights.

its a hybrid mesmer. so you force on relativly high crit dmg (50%) and crit chancse (50%)
u go for Condi dmg (1350 with sigill buff) and power (around 1500)

u can chose with rings/ trinkets and amulett u use by your own. some options are in the build.
