Colour-Custom Spells... Gem store?
I would totally make Goku and shoot a kamehameha out of my greatsword
Nyan cat greatsword beam!!!!!!!
Yeah, I think it would be good – give another option for players to give some uniqueness to their character.
Having said that I’d probably still stick with pink because I like pink!
I’d finally be able to take Charr Mesmer seriously!

There were requests a few months back…but the fanboys ridiculed everyone who said they wanted the option for new spells for God knows amounts of stupid reasons including them not being ‘man enough’ to handle pink and breaking immersion. That’s right….breaking immersion…with people with holographic dragon wings, tentacles, minis, quaggan back packs, everyone being the only commander of the only pact in Tyria and a complete sex change in the shop they’re talking about breaking immersion by having different coloured particle effects.
+1 for option to change colour effects (you know it won’t happen though right?).
The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name.
Nothing is more humiliating than getting killed by glamorous pink glitter and butterflies.
Just sayin.
I’m all for more diversity, but I’d probably stick with pink/purple.
Don’t see this happening anytime soon though, since Anet wants the skill effects of every class visually distinct. Introducing a range of colors to each class would necesserarily “blur” those distinctions.
Hopefully it’s near the bottom of their ‘to-do list’ if anything then ;3
So long as all available colours are shades of pink and purple, that’d be ok with me.
Reason:
It’s part of how you identify a Mesmer. Our spell effects are quite distinct. I think this is an underdeveloped concept actually, it works for Necro, Mesmer and partially Thief and Guardian. It lacks development for the other four classes.
It is something carried over from GW1, where you could tell who’s casting what and if it’s worth interrupting just by looking at the spell effect(s). It worked really well but hasn’t carried over well into GW2 simply because so many spells are massively flashy and interrupting key skills is more niche than it was back then.
Easiest way to identify a Profession now is to select them. you can then see their buffs, which can often give away what type of build they’re running too, especially when you take a look at the weapon set they’re sporting. Observation on that scale makes a much larger impact than what colour the butterflies or fire trails are.
If anything, allowing more customisation of our UI layout and size would help much more with that, even if it is just something as simple as being able to move elements around and resizing them as we see fit, much like we had in GW1.
Colour changes to skill effects is something I can get behind for deeper character differentiation. It would be something to get used to, but in the end you’ll always know that a guardian can’t cast a feedback nor can an elementalist channel cleansing flame.
I allways wanted red necro spells and sometimes yellow for mesmer or guard. Oh my

My only concern, though, is that WvW would look like a rainbow unicorn barfing all over the field.
Personally, i wouldn’t want that. Would make it way too hard to keep an overview in a fight. If they should ever do this, than it should be for the person using it only.

Or an option to toggle on/off as with team colours.

This is actually the better option as it would still allow someone to “boast” with their color.
As with team colors, i would like this to default to standard colors.

YES. YES. Makes sense for ANet to add this now. Thank you for the feedback!!!
