Recently hybrid builds have been appealing more and more to me. I liked how someone said in one thread, “if you focus too much on one, if you run into a counter build youll have a hard time. Combining condition and direct dmg means nothing can directly counter you.”

So after mixing some stuff around, i came up with this.

The weapons that come to mind when i think hybrid are pistol, GS, and staff. Ideally I’d have all 3, but staff is hard to get lots of offensive pressure with, which is why i chose GS. iZerker and iDuelist are the best phantasms to proc sharpening images, since theyre both multi hit attacks. They both hit very hard directly, and apply lots of bleeds, and thanks to traits, attack 20% quicker. Sigil of battle in both weapons since might affects both direct and condition dmg. Once you get the might stacks flowing (really easy with mirror blade being only a 4 second CD) the final stats are 2100 power, 1000 condi dmg, 60% condi duration, 65% crit dmg, 30% crit chance, and 2k toughness. This looks really strong for WvW roaming, but im looking for critiques and help with maximizing both the direct and condition dmg.

The heal gives me ample regen as I tend to always keep three illusions up, and the on heal is very useful to get an iDisenchanter back on the field if you need it “now”. With a 16sec recharge it doesn’t happen very often, but it’s a nice back up for heavy condition specs. Offensively it excels at clone generation: GS clone every 4 sec, Sword ever 7 sec. Works well for me, and has countered a number of PU builds, although it’s hard to gauge if the PU player was really good at that build. I also love the extra bounce for GS clone and iDisenchanter.

Edit: This is as close as I can make the build as it use to be when iCelerity was a 5 point trait. I loose the ability to take 10 in Inspiration line.

3K armor is actually kind of high, don’t need 2k if you can effectively 100-0 most people.

Hmmmm… Lack of condi clears may turn into a problem. Arcane thievery on a 45sec CD may make fighting condi classes difficult.

That’s really the only glaring weakness that I can see.

3k armor is indeed quite high. You can 1vX with 2.4-2.5k no probs, especially with gs/staff. I ran gs/staff extensively in wvw, and its a kiting machine, nothing can get close to you or put pressure on you, while your damage is steady and frustrating for the enemy.

The lack of condi clears is also what i see but just slot in a Disenchanter when you need to or pop on lemongrass poultry as well. necro coming in the distance? slot skills xDD

If I’m going 20 into Illusions, and I don’t plan on having PU, then I’m certainly going to take the extra 10 to get IP.

Dang, high toughness with very little vitality, and 45 second CD on your condi clear…yeah condi classes would eat you alive.

I know 3k is high, that post was directed at the person above me. And with all great mesmer builds, condi clear is always a problem would GS/Staff or GS + Sw/P be better?
