False Oasis Healing Misconceptions
still doesnt make the skill good eaither way… if you leave the area its just a worse heal at that point and youd be better off taking ether feast… you know what just use ether feast its wayyy better..
Yeah, its a big conspiracy against Mirage, it isn’t that everything about the spec is useless and poorly designed.

but those Mirrors… are just godawful…. how did that get past any alpha testers to be even remotely okay?

The mirrors stayed because they’re gorgeous. Of course, that’s the ONLY reason. Its hard to believe a single E-spec could have so many awful mechanics bundled together and make it this far…

They kept the mirrors because some artist made a .psd file of a shiny mirror. They HAD to design the whole elite spec around a picture, you know… (Source – last Guild Chat).
Mirage Mirrors are annoying either way.
Almost to the point where I’d almost rather main another class for PvP. (alongside all the other problems that Mirage brings.)
False Oasis should have 3 pulses. Pulse 1 heals, Pulse 2 heals and Pulse 3 gives us Mirage Cloak & restores some endurance.
You’re not supposed to use False Oasis the same way you use Ether Feast, it’s an overtime heal with a combat buff; you use it at the beginning of the fight, essentially shoving off 5~ seconds off its cooldown.
I feel like they could make it more useful if they either removed the mirror spawn outright and buffed it elsewhere, or fixed mirrors to be more consistent (like making mirrors grant a longer cloak).

use your healing skill before fight lol on a elite spec without sustain dmg and sustain heal or defense .
by your logic they could reduce a lot of heal to half coz they can cast before fight .
so you have to purposely lose 8k hp just to make heal skill use before right then for 25s u cant heal from beginning of fight ?
i thought people defend deadeye 107k dmg from one skill is ridiculous enough,guess im wrong

No, the heal is ticking while you take damage. It’s not being wasted.
I said at the beginning of the fight, not before. I chose that word carefully.

False Oasis feels more reminiscent of Troll Unguent for ranger – and in that way I agree with Daharahj it makes sense if it is intended to be used preemptively, and then sustain you through some time in the fight.
However due to the nature of mesmer, and in particular mirage, this kind of heal doesn’t help us as much as it does for ranger – because ranger has mechanics and gameplay that synergise better with small healing per second over a longer time.
It could work for mesmer, but certainly needs a cooldown reduction for a start.

Was going to say this. I actually still use Troll Unguent sometimes even with how much better Heal as One is in every build. But Mesmer and Mirage in particular can’t really make use of it in the same way Ranger can. Also Troll Unguent has a much better trait.

Your suggestion is not valid.
Majority of professions either have poison application or take sigil of doom. So in middle of a fight, you are more than likely to get poisoned. That severely cripples the amount of healing you can gain.
I would have no problem with this heal if it had a reasonable cooldown.
I think the reason that this heal has a high CD is that it brings a utility. i.e. the mirage mirror.
However, mirage mirror is close to being useless with its current implementation.
The heal is not the only skill that hurts from it. We have other utilities and traits that are underwhelming due to this mechanics not being as strong as Anet devs imagined.
