Feedback for Feedback
I would LOVE for Feedback to be ground targeted. That’s literally the only buff it needs.
You could place it on top of you as a more guaranteed way to reflect projectiles.
“The jealous are troublesome to others, but certainly a torment to themselves.”
Hrm, ground-targeted it’d spill too much into the territory currently selling you on the Focus trait, IMO.
Rather, what I’d do is make it substantially longer, to actually function as something you want to get out of or want to move the enemy out of if they run inside of their own Feedback.
Oh, speaking of which, why not make it able to be targeted on a friendly target?
Having it non-ground targeted opens up other possibilities that would otherwise be not possible. You can cast it through walls, through gates, on cliffs, anywhere you can get a target. There is no LoS restriction, and this makes it incredibly versatile.

This is true, but for common usage a ground targeted feedback will be better and it also won’t lead to a broken game.
Imagine how you can save your mates, making resurrection a bit safer.
Or how you can actively help to control a choke point in WvW.
I think you will forget about possibilities like cast-through-walls-advantage pretty quick =)
Prediction: ground-targeted Feedback will be a Grandmaster trait in the tree where another Grandmaster trait is already commonly used.

Just like the teleport to dead iLeap clone and non-revealing Decoy. Oh skri—

This. And, of course, making it ground targeted would make it unusable underwater. Buh!
It more about Play vs Counter Play, Player targeting doesn’t allow that since the other rival player decide where feedback lands.

I fail to see why this is a problem. You still choose when and how to use it, the enemy player only ‘controls’ the range of options you have.

And don’t forget the pets/ambients/boxes/downed opponents/ect that you can cast it on. =P

Aaaand allies with Medic’s Feedback! There’s your ground target. Did we solve it?
i have a question, does feedback trigger a combo finisher for foes? I mean If they are shooting form the outside of the dome? I was pvping earlier and casted a Feedback on a warrior, then i closed down on him (so me and him were inside the dome) then his ranger teammate who was outside starting shooting RF, i saw a lot of Confusion Combo thingies(not the purple damage balloon, the grey balloon thingies with the confusion word on it) when it got reflected back. Is this a bug?

maybe after the projectile is actually reflected and turned into a friendly projectile it can pick up finishers from friendly combo fields. just guessing. not sure that was the situation.
nah,, i was the only one with a combo field on.
Yes sticker, it combos. Feedback works as a barrier. If the enemy outside of it and shooting through it to the other side, it will combo. If the enemy is inside of it, all of their projectiles will reflect.
Fay, it’s a problem, because it makes feedback only reliable in a melee range. If it was ground targeted, you’d have a lot more flexibility in how to aid your team/self.
No one simply stands in a feedback bubble and fires away unless they’re a noob. At most you only get a few shots before they move out of it to continue firing. Then your only option is to run inside of the bubble yourself for further protection. I’m running a glamour build now (post coming soon), so I’ve been working closely with how Null Field and Feedback work.
Feedback is only reliable under 2 conditions:
1. If you have a way of keeping them inside (stun, immob)
2. You’re inside of the bubble.
Obviously with the way it works now, it’s hard to do #2 unless you’re in melee range like I’ve said before.

Wait what? if they’re inside i dont think it triggers a combo field for foes. because i think you cant use opposing player’s fields with your finisher. The reason i asked about my situation is it is peculiar. And yes I’m 100% sure that everyone shooting outside the dome will get reflected. Not so sure about finishers. lets duel again and test.
Only Friendly Forces outside shooting through the dome will get finishers, but for opposing players who shoot and get reflected?

Yes, reflecting missiles with feedback will trigger the ethereal combo field if applicable.

So does the location matter? Inside or outside as long as it is reflecting?

Doesn’t matter at all.
Wow thank you Fay! so feedback isnt just for reflecting kitten normally. So for example, if an enemy triggers confusion through feedback when using a physical projectile finisher, does that confusion scale with my condi dmg or the shooters?

Should be the opponent’s condition damage. Also keep in mind the projectile finisher through an ethereal field is only a 20% chance to proc for the iDuelist attacks. It used to be bugged to work 100% of the time and you’d see cheese builds here and there trying to exploit it, but even bugged it ultimately never really made an impact.
It makes sense for it to scale with their condition dmg. Also, I’m pretty sure it still reflects with both players inside of the field. The other night when we were dueling, Fang started coming into my feedback in order to “presumably” apply pressure when I was defending. That’s when I got more bursts of dmg on him.

Recall how a projectile reflect works. When a projectile is reflected, the game acts as if you cast it, but with the original caster’s power.
Now apply all other situational addons. You cast this projectile through your feedback ethereal field, so it acquires that attribute. When that projectile hits, it applies confusion. You cast this projectile, you applied the confusion, it scales off of your condition damage.
Conditions don’t come pre-loaded with some sort of set value. They simply have a value call to their owner’s stats, and will update dynamically as those stats change.
