Q:

I’ve been trying to run some frontline tank builds recently, and I’m wondering what utilities others are taking. Veil is usually on my bar, but in addition the following are all useful:

- mantra of concentration
- mantra of resolve
- null field
- decoy/blink/mirror images for additional stunbreak and repositioning

Anyway, what do people generally use? And also, is illusion of life of any value?

nb. Medic’s feedback rocks. My new favorite trait.

Medic’s feedback is also my favourite trait. Though, 10 seconds does seem awfully low. Knowing Anet, it’s probably a mistake and they’ll bump it up to 60/90 sooner or later.

Don’t jinx us, Zach. MF’s situationally useful, and would get hosed hardcore if the ICD were jumped past -say- 20 sec.

I always have blink and Null Field. The other depends on if I’m the veil mesmer on my raid, or Feedback in other situations.

Then, we have a portal mesmer in my raid which we use as an offensive tactive. He uses normally Veil, Portal, Blink and Mass Invisibility.

Veil, Null Field, Blink

Mimic is interesting, good that someone mentioned it. but it’s solo use, it will really make you plow through anything, i’ve gone solo into a zerg of like 20-30 and ran out the other side like that lmao but i mean it only benefits you, so if you’re necessary, you might need the other stuff. I can imagine if you’re the driver/commander of a zerg group you might need to be the one that just plows through so the zerg can follow you with their skills and stuff, but if you’re helping the group probably not mimic

Portal only if the commander needs it

Agreed with always blink, lots of CC getting thrown around, lots of movement, you need to keep up, gain distance and also get out when necessary

Mantra of Concentration, Null Field, Veil.

I might switch Null Field for Mantra of Resolve if there’s no warrior or guardian in my party.

As for veil, depends on how many mesmers we have online… if there’s at least 2 veils, the others might run portal or feedback. In some cases even mirror images or signet of illusions (makes more sense for GvG than in zerg busting).
