I see what you’re trying to do but mechanically it’s not going to work.
Also, one cleave from an enemy weapon will tell them which is the real mesmer as your 3 newly created clones instantly die XD
Ye I doubt it really works. :P But the range of the area where the clones appear could be so big that you cant aoe them down. Still it would only work in 1v1.
Also, It only works if the Illusions you’re creating are ranged… Otherwise all the clones are just going to run directly at your opponents face.
I’d like to see someday recreation of baldur’s gate teleport field arcane spell that randomly teleported everyone around in area
Personally I wouldn’t use it because the idea of rng positioning sounds painful – what if you port into a DH trap or similar bad position?

I’m going to take this one step further, put it on a 70 sec cooldown and instead of teleporting you to a random position you swap positions with your target. You do not spawn clones but could synergize well with other skills.

Description: Target an enemy. Stun the enemy for 1 second and generate 5 Clones surrounding the enemy approx 300-400 units away. (You will also surround the enemy on a random location. So that would be 6 of you surrounding the player. For 3, seconds you are allowed to shatter those clones BUT only 3 will shatter. If you do not shatter within 3 seconds, you lose 3 clones automatically.
These are only clones so they don’t do much damage. However, they are effective at deception.

You can’t have more than 3 clones at a time… all the newly created force one of the clones you had to disappear, while I like your idea, it would require Anet to go around one of the very basic algorithm ruling over mesmer’s head and that’s not a simple matter to go over.

Yea it would definitely be part of the manip utilities. The high cd was because you could reduce manipulation cd’s by 20% so yeah 70 is high but 50 might be too low with 40 s cd. Sweet spot may be in the range of 50-60.

That’s true. Although it would be really cool if this is an exception. But perhaps 4 of your surrounding the player would be a great idea as well.
For a skill named Shuffle, I would have imagined that it scrambles the enemy’s skillbar. That would be a nice mindtrick

I like that concept, although I see it only as being used in PvP. Maybe if we add a “daze/stun” to it to PvE monsters.

I was thinking of using stealth and then mirror images. You have to come out of stealth as the clones attack so you’ll confuse others. However, our boons do not copy onto the clones.
