GS/sword-focus build?
I need help with my current GS/Sword+Focus, phantasm mesmer with restorative mantra build… 4 (III,X)/4(II,VI)/0/6(IV,VIII,X)/0
I dunno which runes/sigils to use.. Currently my equips are: zerker backpiece and armor, cavalier trinkets, and legendary weapons (i dunno which stats to use)… any suggestions? Current runes are scholar, sigils are fire/accuracy for GS and fire/perception for S+F

considering the new meta since the patch is condi – with torment and poison being the main forms of condi… absolutely.

The heal is bad, I don’t care how much torment and poison you have on you.
If you really need additional condition removal, you should trait mender’s purity and use ether feast or the mantra heal. You can also take some utility based removals as well. Using a crappy heal isn’t a good choice.
Thank you very much for your replies. Definitely looking into your suggestions.
My build utilises GS and sword/focus too, check it out here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Smirgel-s-Shantasms-sPvP

Wear sword / focus when you enter the dungeon, to bluff people into thinking you actually use them.
Which gamemode? Pve/spvp or wvw?
Domination: Mental torment and Shattered concentration.
Duelling: Far reaching manipulations anf deceptive evasion.
Illusions: comfounding power (or whatever its called… I really dont care, cuz it doesnt seem all that usefull), Illusionary invigoration (im really sad that rhy moved this to master… I used to have illusionary elestacity and this one :/. They claim it was a buff, but it’s actually a MASSIVE nerf.), illusionary persona.
Rune of the traveler.
Either purity and generosity, or energy and bloodlust.
Berserker amulet… Obviously :P
Warning: link may contain traces of awesome.

Is traveler better than pack for pve?

Traveler is terrible for pve … so what game mode?
PvE?
WvW?
This is the most important questions but I have to agree with Pyro: So far there are some facepalm suggestions – oh god …

I just created a Tank-ish Interrupt build that used GS and s/f. Uses Disruptor’s Sustainment (6 pt inspiration) trait to give us the +1000 healing on interrupt.
It’s more of a power/toughness build that uses the +healing for sustainment, while still being able to pump out decent damage.

Yeah, don’t do this. If you have that trait, you made an enormous mistake somewhere along the line.

I’m curious as to why you’re opposed to this trait, Pyro?

Because it’s just useless. It gives you 1000 healing power for 5 seconds on interrupt. This doesn’t stack in strength or duration, so what are you actually getting out of this?
A couple ticks of regeneration? Maybe 1 heal if you happen to interrupt something precisely when you need a heal? Nothing. You get nothing out of this trait. Add that onto the fact that healing power scales horridly with almost everything makes it even worse.
It’ll make tick for 125 points more, so you’ll get maybe 500ish healing total from an interrupt assuming you’ve got regen running and you actually need it. If you have ether feast, you’ll get about 1000 extra healing…but this is only if you can use your heal when you interrupt, which isn’t always viable.
Basically, the concept is total crap. Think about it a bit. When do you usually really need to heal? You need to heal after you get hit by something big. When is a good time to land an interrupt? You land interrupts on big things. If you got hit by something big, that means you just failed your interrupt. If you succeeded your interrupt, you don’t need to heal. This trait just fails completely.

I’ve found it works great with Mender’s Purity and Mantra of Recovery. You have a heal at the push of a button. Maybe 2 as it’s 2 3/4 seconds. That PLUS the uptick on regen. I think you can take of advantage of it more than you suspect. In group fights, with aoe interrupt capabilities, it’s not hard at all to get an interrupt and heal a good chunk.
It’s a heal option that phantasm builds have sorely lacked for awhile imo. BUt, to each their own
Yeah there was quite a bit of analysis on DS pre-patch and in my mind if they allowed the trait to stack in duration, it might have some potential. I’m not sure even then, but it would at least have enticed me enough to unlock it to play around with it. At the moment I have no desire to whatsoever.
That said, I can’t deny I’m curious though for anyone who is running it or have tried it.

Phantasm builds lack healing? What are you talking about? Phantasm builds generally go into inspiration, which means you have easy access to one of the strongest healing traits in the game: restorative mantras.
Also, have you actually run the numbers on how much it provides you? If you burn both charges of MoR, you’ll gain 800 healing from the trait. Restorative mantras only scales .2, so you’ll only get 200 healing from that trait. When you consider that the base heal from RM is already 2600, it’s absolutely worthless. Additionally, since mantras have a 2.75 cast time, it’ll be incredibly difficult to reliably get that heal off in the 5s duration of the boost.
On top of that, if you’re going 30 into inspiration, you have other traits that you need to take. If you care so much about healing, you absolutely need restorative mantras. If you don’t have warden’s feedback, then your build is bad. Those two traits take up your master and grandmaster slots, leaving no room for this trait.
It clashes in so many ways and has such a tiny boost to healing it’s ridiculous.
