Don’t forget, all the rangers and elementalists are voting for their professions as well, which means Mesmers will probably fight just to end up in third place.

Currently, Mesmer is somewhere in 4th place, behind Necromancers!

If you put rangers and elementalists before mesmers, you have to be OK with the thought that the balanace team may not get to working on Mesmers for another year – 12 months, if at all!

Curunen speaks the truth though. Eles and Rangers do need more help then us. However, Mesmer and Engis should be tied for 3rd, because they are both insanely buggy and need a lot of reworking. I do have to say though, after playing ranger, they are really sad to see right now compared to Mes. Same story with Ele. Its not that we are fine(because we aren’t at all), its just those 2 need more help then we do.

Maybe this is yet another ‘smart’ trick, to make the lowly peasants (everything except mesmers and guardians) think thy are listening to our feedback, communicating with the community, and have an idea of what theyre doing.

I also included Mesmer in my list, but had to put it behind Ranger (#1) and Elementalist (#2) as I feel those need the most work.

One would hope objectivity would reign in situations like this, but more than likely ppl who main a specific class are just going to go in and vote for their own class. Fail idea IMO.

Im starting to think arenanet consists of only Mesmers (even though they only play warrior).

If you look at it the way you said it, thr point of this whole cdi is just to create the illusion that theyre listening, making customers happier and buy more gems, indirectly.

yep after 15 seconds he is screaming veil and during the whole raid he keeps screaming veil…but noone is a mesmer until the end when 1 guy joins in as a mesmer

yeah bug fix will def help but, it will not change the fact that mesmer has no aoe dmg in wvw raids. we are wayyy to much about ai and not enough light armor. ai classes are usually medium armor and not light. we are not rangers, we are mesmers and therfor need viable non ai aoe.
i wish our shatters would work without clones anyways. ip is just soo hard to spec for. maybe move ip a little further down… so i can shatter wihout ai up and have a build that is not a pure shatter build?
maybe anet just needs to change our traitlines around a little and remove useless traits. and maybe a few less illusion traits and something that can help us in raids would be great.
(p.s ill give up veil,moa, even tw and idefender andphanta disenchanter and mimic and u can have all the mantras if u give us viable non ai aoe options either through traits or new utilities.

They should add a trait that fixes all current bugs. Make it a grandmaster. I don’t care which line, I’d take it.

hmm how about an f5 button(fixes ai bugs, allows ileap on uneven terrain, allows blink on bridges)

They should have a different poll in different subforums (sPVP/PVE/WvW). The last thing sPVP needs is ranger buffs.

Also it doesn’t matter how dogkitten mesmers are they will be hated simply because the class mechanics are designed in a way to frustrate bad/new players.

Sorry but I have to be objective. As much as I love mesmers, I feel rangers and and elementalists need more help than we do. To paraphrase what I stated there, I won’t even touch rangers because of the horrible pet AI. As for elementalists, I want to be Zuko or Katara, but I have to do the avatar dance to be viable and I hate that.

In my list, mesmers are 3rd and even then, I only place us above engineers because I main a mesmer.

ugh we lost. looks like we will be veilbot for the next 1 year and will be stuck with our broken ai….

well remember when the illusions got bugged out 1 week ago?yeaaaah so thats your wvw mesmer right there. ai dies way to quick in a group fight so unless u have ip trait no traits that involve shatter will be useful. the clones simply wont reach the zerg. phantasms are either bugged out or die after 1 hit if they dont bug out due to los issues. also 1 meteorshower and boom your phantasm dies before it hits anything. staff aa is ranged but too slow, mh sword is suicide as u can never get close to the zerg so all u can do is kill a few casters in the backline and veil the other classes.
our class has become a pet class only after all non ai builds were nerfed to the ground. so yeah in spvp i do great with my mesmer as everything i have is 1v1 skills and traits.
all we need is a trait like ip that allows u to deal dmg without illusions and ground target aoes.
other light armor classes are better of as they have aoes that are non ai based.

Well, that is caused more by thieves being over the top than mesmers being bad. Take a look at some of supcutie’s most recent posts, he puts it well.

I voted for boosting Ranger and Ele and fixing bugs on others (like iWarden for Mesmer)

If i think about which classes would require most work to make more balanced I think both ranger and thief requires a way bigger overhaul to their base mechanics, initative being such a broken mechanic in many ways and rangers reliance on a barely controllable horrible AI. However if i think from a viability point of view in spvp i’d vote mesmer and ele first.¨

Going to be honest, I voted Ranger, Engineer, Warrior, in that order.
Rangers because their pet system needs a rework, Engineers because Turrets, Gadgets and the Mortar need a rework and Grenade Kit needs a role which isn’t all-round, and Warriors because they need a nerf to their passive staying power and general control coupled with their high burst damage.

All of these I see as more important issues than what we have, sorry. And it’s not like I don’t have a long list of things I’d love to see changed, I just feel that especially Rangers need to be looked at first. Their pet-mechanic is crippling the class when it could be an amazing F-system to add depth to the class.
(I’m a bit biased ofc, my GF plays a Ranger :P )

In a certain way I agree, but to me it’s not about the impression it leaves, rather about what a terrible idea it is to listen to the vocal minority in a MMO. Because the minority is usually very minor and very vocal. Your forum community. And they’re a very biased subset of players.

In the end, they’re asking 10%-15% of players, largely players who are angry at the status quo, to vote on what to do.
It could be that the other 85%-90% think that the most important thing to do is remove Engineer Backpacks, and they’d never find out this way. Instead they’ll think that sPvP per-class balance is the important thing to do, when I’d bet my offhand jade sword that it’s the least important thing for the majority of players, who’d love to see the toxicity of champ trains worked on, champion loot in general, boss design, downscaling, upscaling for WvW, crafting, those things.

But it’s no use asking such a heavily biased sample as us forum-goers. A large part of us are sPvPers (because for some reason those are naturally more angry, in all MMOs I’ve players ) and come to vent our frustrations with class balance and what we think it should be, another large group are people unhappy with the current living story content.

In general, we’re unhappy. It’s a bad idea to ask us, we’ll never be remotely objective or constructive.

Still, Rangers first. Their F-mechanic needs a re-do.

I come from a small group of friends who emigrated from UO to EQ2 to WoW and finally to GW2. After the initial levelling up to 80 and some time discovering the game I am the only one left because I’m the only one adicted to pvp. All others left the game because they found those things you mentioned important to their play style and didn’t like the way they are implemented. So you are 100% right.

As far as voting I underlined how Mesmer needs many bugs fixed (especially iWarden) but my list is Ranger, Ele, Mesmer

I also gave a nerf list which is wars, thieves, engi
And that’s ofc based on my personal experience.

I’m having a hard time with that thread and didn’t vote so far (not that my vote would make a difference ). The only class I would not name is the Guardian. All other classes could be put down there depending on which perspective you take.

From a class perspective, Rangers, Engineers and Mesmers need major reworks traitwise and all of them need bug fixes. But the Pet AI on Rangers is probably the most pressing one. Elementalists to my knowledge don’t suffer that many bug issues but are in dire need for help because of their class mechanic and the dependence on Water and Arcane.

From a meta perspective I’d like Warriors to be changed so there actually is a trade-off (DPS vs. CC vs. Survivability) which I feel is not the case right now. Thieves probably need slight adjustments to make them a less obivous choice for PvP instead of Elementalists or Mesmers. However, they also can need help when it comes to their Venoms and Traps.

I’m not even remotely sure what to put down there since I enjoy playing most classes and don’t want it to come down to Mesmer Mesmer Mesmer just because it is my main.

That’s… extremely lame. That just makes us (as a class) look really bad. Can we call out multi-voters in the main thread? So hopefully someone at ANet gets angry and removes their posts entirely?

I had to put Mes and Thief 3rd. Fact is, both classes mainly need a looksee into class bugs and Trait interactions. Otherwise, my #1 and #2 had to be Ranger and Elementalist, respectively. Ranger, due to it’s Pet AI reliance utterly hobbling the class’ overall function. Ele, since – in their attempt to reign in D/D spec – ANet blasted them into the dirt for freaking months.
