Might be a totally broken idea but i’m just curious if anyone has thoughts on a build heavy in these three, as I’m new to the profession and metagame.

As a general rule, the more healing power/toughness you have, the less damage you’ll do.

- Healing Power is good in builds that have a heavy support focus (better for WvW and in some cases sPvP). The more healing power you have, the stronger your Regeneration boon (assuming you apply it) which helps fight Bleeds/Burns/Torment and restores life of lower HP classes (Guardians/Eles/Thieves) at a pretty decent rate. You don’t actually need more than 900+ Healing Power for a decent regen.

- Toughness in PvE is better if your active defenses (dodge, teleports, ect) aren’t enough to keep you safe from soaking too much damage. Toughness works better with healing power than Vitality since you’ll have a lower base HP but endure more damage.

In general, a build with toughness and healing (Cleric’s) needs heavy might stacking to maintain decent damage. 2x Sigils of Battle and Runes of Altruism really help with this, but there are other means too.

TL:DR- If you wanna take a heavy support role, grab some healing power for yourself and group but you’ll be sacrificing damage (so you better have some way to stack 9+ stacks of might) The better you are at dodging, evading, and using your active defenses the less toughness/healing power you need.

Thanks very much for the response, that reinforces what I was thinking about healing/toughness combo. To compensate for that damage, since very high healing is not really neccessary, could more be put into power/precision/crit? Or is that just spreading stats out too thin to get much benefit?

Actually, mixing gear isn’t that bad of an idea. Power/Precision/Crit is Berzerker gear, which can definitely be mixed with healing power for a strong regeneration while maintaining good damage. A good example of this is the Paladin Mesmer by skcamow

Which combines Zerker gear for damage, a bit of Cleric’s gear for healing power, and stacks 15+ might like a madman.
