Supcutie had convinced me at one point in solo que to take mantra of resolve over portal, and strangely enough, I find my performance as a shatter mesmer improving a lot in both solo q and team fights.

It’s not that portal is bad, in fact, it’s an extremely useful skill for team mobility. I thought about it, and it came down to the fact that even in team fights, barely anyone used it but myself so it was used less for team mobility and more for me getting out of bad situations in a more selfish way lol. I actually like it a bit better than null field for the reason that it is faster to cast and has a much shorter cd. Isn’t that weird? xD

You are not playing with organized teams. Portal is pretty legit, but it takes a real team to get the most effectiveness out of it.

MoD can be fun in a shatter build, often a F1 shatter will get somebody low and they’ll panic to heal and then you can nail them with a halting strike proc.

Yeah but Null is a Condi clear, boonstrip, AND ethereal field, and heavily discourages enemies off point

Plus.. Chaos Armor. So much chaos armor if you’re running staff.

Personally, I’ve taken a liking to Arcane Thievery especially with all the cele builds.

I run this in my condi shatter build that serves as a direct counter to cele ele/engi. It’s very clunky and takes some practice to ensure it always works.

I do love Null Field though. It’s definitely my favorite condi clear in other builds. I almost never use MoR, but there’s no denying that it’s our most popular one.

Even in pugs/soloque. I find portal to be more useful than mantra of resolve. But that is mostly because I dedicated myself to being really good at using portal for

• stomps
• jukes
• ele resses
• Evacs
• and general mayhem

You know you’re using portal right when you get hate tells about speed hacking >.<

Null field is awesome! There are two reasons I prefer MoR but this is just my personal opinion:

1: The cooldown, pretty straightforward. Only 20 seconds and I can keep clearing condis

2: Instant cast, this is going to sound weird, but I don’t like the temporary delay Null field has. Most of the time I have to use it to cure conditions on myself rather than for boon removal, MoR cures them the moment I use the skill. With Null field, theres this short cast time and can’t get conditions off me as fast.
