It feels a shame that I’ve only recently begun to fully understand the worth of glamours. In a PvP setting, is Dazzling Glamours worth it without Blinding Befuddlement? How useful are the blinds?

Not worth it IMO. Maybe in a group setting where your team is based around you it could get some use. I’ve tried beefing glamours and none of the glamour specific traits are especially powerful, or even work! (Has Temporal Enchanter ever worked?) This blind trait would be great if it was pulsing(similar to a necro well) but alas, it is not. Glamour mastery is the only glamour specific trait I’d consider taking.

IMO, this is a very useful trait in WvW depending on your group composition. Obviously a condition damage spec’d mesmer would get more out of this trait with Blinding Befuddlement, but even power spec’d mesmer can provide some nice damage mitigation by taking this trait and Null Field/Feedback. When using it, I will typically drop Feedback on the enemy’s frontline instead of the backline. This way it blinds the frontline inside the bubble while simultaneously preventing the backline’s ranged attacks from going into the bubble as well. If timed/placed correctly you can prevent a lot of damage this way.

The dilemma is that there are a lot of other good options in the illusion line to choose from, and a lot of other classes have much better options for blinding than us anyway. It’s one of those traits that you’ll probably switch around a lot depending on how many people you’re running with and how they’re spec’d.

In WvW it can just be super fun to use. Add in a condition epidemic necromancer you could cause some serious damage. That and if you get caught out alone, and you notice a thief going at you, drop staff #5 at your feet, as soon as you expect thief drop a glamour field, get that blind up or use the #2 block on scepter. Deny them an opening, and for added lawls if you have a focus and portal, position the portals near each other or overlapping, use focus #5, pull the enemy through the two portals (each a seperate glamour field) this piles on blind, confusion, (from entering, leaving, and being blinded so lots of nasty damage). So you can have lots of fun with it.

I use it with blinding befuddlement for AoE confusion. I think it’s standard for the WvW glamor build.

The problem is it is two traits (that must take up the Master and the Grandmaster slot) for a really quite mediocre effect. If you also take Confusing Enchantments then Glamours would be quite potent in WvW, but that’s another 20 points in Domination.

IMO, Confusing Enchantments and Dazzling Glamours need to be merged into a single trait in Illusions: inflict Blind at target location and when foes enter or exit their areas.

Definately mediocre, nothing to see here, move on
