L/F nice support build (Fractals/WvW)
Well, for ideas, you can check the Chaos Maestro (in sig) and switch from the recommended gear (clerics/magis mix for 2.9k burst heals & 300+ regen ticks).
It offers literally everything you listed, and works with any armor setup… BUT has not been tested yet for fractals past 15.
(Typing from a phone sucks btw..)

Ooh hello! I read all your posts about it and was severely umming it with the 4k Mantra heals before, nice to meet you! If you like sometime i’ll test it out for you, I make Youtube videos and have up to Fractals 32 unlocked, should I settle on your build that is. I like to weigh up my options first off. I currently use Berserkers with Pack runes, so i’d be making an entirely new set up, just debating on the Magi’s at the moment. I’ve looked on the wiki and I don’t see any Ascended Magi gear, otherwise it’d be clear cut to have Clerics armour and Magi trinkets. Also what sigils do you suggest for Sword/Focus? I see you listed Battle or Life for Staff, but I’m not sure what for S/F. Is Battle in the case that you are constantly swapping weapons on CD? =o
Edit; You’re on Anvil Rock too! Yay! <3

Haha good to meet you too!
Well, I meant that while I recommend mixing magis & clerics for the power and precision (if you can get your precision to 20-25% then the constant Fury will make a noticeable damage difference) and vitality/toughness mix, any sort of gear-even Zerkers- can pull off the majority of what the build offers.
Also.. theres quite a bit of informative discussion in the comments about variants and other support builds. Pyroathiest, Fuscia, Handin, and Fay also have strong support builds.
Right now Im messing with Sigil of Battle on Sword & Staff with Life on focus. The Runes of Altruism are rather important as well. But the playstyle is VERY support-oriented. You pay more attention to allies than enemies and your offense is more control/damage mitigation than actual damage.. not necessarily because your daage is poor but because there is SO MUCH to do between heals, constant boons, reflects, and balancing shatters with phantasm placement (iWarlock doubles as main damage & regeneration turret)
I tend to start with sword+focus and swap to staff for a full Boon Storm(which ends up usually with a burst heal & all boons in game except Stability for anyone standing in every second chaod storm I cast).. but for ANY support build you gotta mske sure your team knows to either stick togethr or make a conscious effort to touch Temporal Curtain and Chaos Storm.
Feel free to PM me anytime in game(though Ive been mindwracked with computer issues) or on the forums if ya want. There are a lot of other helpful people in the Chaos Maestro thread aswell if ya ever want someone to reach out to. (And yeah Id LOVE tp talk further on fractal tests)

You could also give this a go. It is more focused on giving ur party perma protection. In pve use Sig of inspiration and omnomberry creams. I have also swapped all knights armor for apothecary to up the healing and Condi damage.

I’ll have a fiddle with it! I’ll probably set up another set entirely for it, though if I like it i’ll keep it permanently. My main goal is to stay alive and help my team-mates…Basically be as annoying as possible for the enemy. I just gotta work out which pricey rune is going to go on my Minstrel. X’D…
I really can’t decide on which armour to use, it’s a bugger.
I’d recommend something with Toughness (rather than vitality) and Power, and if you want any kind of damage you’re gonna need precision. Eh, sounds like Knight’s.
Btw, in addition to jportell and the people I mentioned before, ya might wanna check out skcamow’s Paladin Mesmer build.

I’ve been having a fiddle about and i’ve not had much luck, bleh! I’m finding it kinda hard swapping from my usual play style.
I usually use for the majority of the time Sword/Focus. I set down #4 then use Leap to grab retaliation and the immobilize, then 5 and leap again for blurred, I only use secondary weapon when backing off, which currently is a Greatsword. I usually dodge once, then swap as my GS has a Sigil of Energy attached to it so I gain an additional dodge, all these creating 3 clones which I can use for whatever I may need. If you like I can see about recreating my build on an editor and showing you. I just wanna be a bit more useful but still retain my damage, which I know is asking a lot to be honest. I was thinking swapping out my GS for a Staff and having a few gear alterations could help a bit better. =o
For high level fractals significant toughness isn’t really nessecary. Even if you run full knights you’ll die in one of two good hits, learning to properly dodge, block and distort through attacks will serve you much and leaves your gear free for functional stats (Power/Precision/Crit, or in this case, a bit of healing and boon duration runes).
The more DPS, the faster your enemy dies and the less you need to worry about surviving for an extended period. Running boon support build alongside DPS tuned stats will allow protection and regneration to further take the edge off the incidental hits without slowing down the fight

That sounds good, I’m currently running full Berserkers with Pack runes, and a couple Cavalier Trinkets, I also had toughness there for WvW too. What kind of build/gear would you suggest for a DPS/Support build?
I imagine in fights like Shaman, a staff would be preferable because of boon drops and the long range of the staff.
Bibbity bop boop. Anyone out there got an answer for the cute british kid? ~
there are a lot of ways you can go for this, as indicated here and iin the chaos maestro thread. the focus reflect trait is super useful, but can be situational in fractals. I’ve run 30 in inspiration to get that and mantra heals before, but you can also do 20 in inspiration and switch between the two traits as needed.
Lately I’ve found myself moving away from mantra heals. I’m already giving them regen, protection and aegis…if the party is decent, they shouldnt need that level of consistent healing.
Basically, at this point I’m running a standard phantasm build, but I have runes of altruism and sig. of inspiration. I also swap between idisenchanter and idefender. for me its a good hybrid of support with decent dps.
the great thing is sig. of inspiration and runes of altruism make mesmer supporty with a variety of builds, so feel free to try any variation or tanky-shatter-phantasm/support.

I see, that sounds interesting. =o
Yeah it really depends on what you want to do. With my build if I know I am doing fractals I will take that 5 points out of illusions (not as necessary as everyone and their mom thinks) and use s/t and s/f just incase I get the harpy fractal. It also depends on what kind of boons you want to give your group. We can give everything from extra stacks of might (warriors still do it better) to perma protection (I think mesmers do this best.)

I’ll have to test it out sometime, what sort of set do you use/got a link? I’d like to stay DPS whilst having loads of support or healing. X3

Rune is 2x earth/2xwater/2x monk. Gives 90% boon duration w/ chocolate omnomberry cream and 110% protection duration (if using Sig of midnight).
I use all apothecary armor/trinkets and rabid weapons (thinking of switching to Apoth weapons to.) When taking clone on death traits and using the staff. The DPS is still pretty good actually. And the HPS is pretty sweet as well.

I’ll have a looksy on buildcraft and see if I can edit it up to my liking. =3
Yeah the big corner stone to the build is PU and the rune set. after that u can adjust as u want
