Looking for some constructive advice
First of all: Please don’t let other people’s class opinions affect your choice!
Everything from your playstyle to your personality determines how much you like/click with a class, and a lot of people talk either from their personal experience or from what they’ve “heard” about the class.
Guardians can kill fine, and if you really enjoy the class then you’ll find a way to make it work for sure. Mesmer can be specced to do just about anything; its a jack-of-all-trades class that can be specialized to fit pretty much any aspect of the game. If you like the Mesmer, figure out your favorite weapons and consider which playstyle you prefer (Shattering illusions or keeping them alive) and build from there. Mesmer generally is better at small groups, but there’s some WvW zerg builds as well.
I’m talking from experience; when I first unveiled my support build I received a really mixed reception. “Impossible. Not viable. Mantras suck. Guardians & Elementalists can support better.” Initially outweighed the positive responses, but no one took the time to explain why. They were all talking in hypotheticals, it’s easy to shoot something down before you encourage it. Yet the more people tried it and saw the results, the more the support stigma was broken, now support Mesmer isn’t such a far fetched concept.
Nothing new ever gets discovered by mindlessly jumping on a bandwagon. You have to follow your own desires and kitten what everyone else says. If you disagree, prove them wrong.
TL:DR- Don’t make your class choice based on satisfying someone else’s opinion or else you become little more than “yet another guardian” or “that mesmerish guy.” Stick with whatever you have fun with the most, and forge your own identity. You can make any nearly class work with just about whatever kind of playstyle you want.

Well this is RPG Game. Role Playing Game. MMORPG Coz it’s Online and Massive. U just need to find what role u like most. GW2 doesn’t use “Holy Trinity” Rules. It’s a rule like Stone paper scisor. Stone beat Scissor. Scissor beat Paper and Paper beat Stone. In RPG it’s like Support, Hiter, and Bunker. The meaning GW2 doesnt use holy trinity is simply every class in GW2 can choose their own ROLE by using correct traits. For example of no Holy Trinity in GW2 is like Mesmer Can heal Allies Using Mantra, Guardian can heal Allies using Dodge/ Staff Empower, Enginer can Heal Allies using water field + Blast Finisher. Every class has its own way. Just like that.
TL:DR – Every class is good.
Anyone telling you mesmers suck at pvp and wvw are wrong. I’m sorry, I value most peoples opinions for being opinions, but in this case the facts just don’t support that in any way. Mesmers are devastating in spvp and specifically recruited in wvw for their amazing utility abilities along with being one of the best small group/solo classes. I’d go so far as to say they are top-tier in both right along with guards and eles.
As for guards, they can certainly do damage. Everyone sees them as bunkers and healers, but that’s a stigma they brought from other games. Just realize you won’t be the super support tank that most players run while using a dps build. Guards are pretty much how anet intended the game to work and are working to bring other classes in line with that design.
Necros have a new spot in the meta since their recent buffs, and most players are figuring them out, and some players starting to find new counters for them, too. It’s not very stable yet, so expect some changes, but in my limited experience with them, they are fun and offer a different experience by playing with cc and condition/boon abilities.

Awesome, I appreciate all of your guys’ advice. I think I will stick with my Mesmer cause i do love the illusions, and being able to do some melee and ranged. I’m still pretty new to this game so i don’t understand all aspects but Thanks for your help on not letting people sway my interests.
I’ve always found my mesmer to be the most fun and I always come back to it regardless of how handicapped we’ve become. That said, I suggest going with whatever you find fun. Currently, mesmer is one of the weakest classes in pvp. If you are looking to faceroll then play your necro.

Stick with your mesmer if you like it but don’t ignore your alts. I would at least try all the classes or just check them out in pvp so you see what a lvl 80 can do. My mesmer is my main at about 1k hours on her. 7 alts have a total of 1k hours as well. I like to consider my account as a stable of heros.
Sometimes it just depends on the mood your in. Easy mode? GC Warrior or AH Guard. Noobs need to be carried through ac exp p1? solo most of it with my ele. Up for a challenge/shenanigans? Grab the mesmer or engineer. My thief, necro, and ranger, despite the recent buffs, are actually not getting too much play time. Not enough time/don’t find them as fun.
One more thing: My mesmer has 6 sets of armor/gear for different builds. Mesmers can definitely pull off a lot of things but they do require specialization.
Well I would deffo say you can do decent damage without a slight breeze killing me
Enjoy some shatter cat Heavy gameplay:

lol that is pretty amazing
All i can say is: “if i was your guildie, i would tell you to follow your heart, not to base your decisions on what others think”.
Ok, i can actually say a lot more than that.
Guadians can definitely kill people, if you build for it. As of the build diversity patch all professions can do decent in pvp, ive even seen people accomplish akittenng things with warriors! (Warriors used to be a complete joke in pvp).
Mesmers are amazing in pvp, which is just my oppinion ofcourse.
My favourite builds for pvp are shatterbuilds, like Osicqt just linked. With all the unlresictable bursts, tons of mobility and stealth, theres room for a lot of improvisation and self improvement. Ive player my mesmer since the 3rd beta and i still have aloooot to learn ^^.
What everyone above has said about mesmer versatality is definitely true, you can spec for… All kinds of things, really!
Heres a video guide ive quickly put together on boon support, its not perfect but it shows the massive boonage we can achieve quite well ^__^.

Lyssa’s Grimoire – a guide every Mesmer should read.
anyone who tells you that mes sucks in pvp has no clue what they’re talking about and i wouldn’t trust them to operate a toaster
that said, you should choose a class you love and enjoy playing, not a class just because you think it might satisfy your (mostly self-imagined) constraints
But I can operate a toaster :<
