Matra Build im currently running
I’ve grown a love for Mantra builds, and I see a couple interesting concepts here, how do you like the +25% damage when each mantra is ready and you have 3 clones out?
Why torch, and whats your secondary weapon?
And, I’m guessing this is for PvE? Even so, I wouldn’t spend 20 points on traits just for the sake of swiftness, swiftness is more of a convenience than necessity. And what kind of gear do you plan to use. Deceptive Evasion is far more useful when you maintain Vigor, but with such a low crit chance you won’t really benefit from Critical Infusion.
Also, shattering seems counter-productive here if you wanna maintain your damage boost, I’d replace Mental Torment with Empowering Illusions.
On a side note, does anyone know if your traited effects (Specifically Empowered Illusions/ Empowering Mantras) also affect Phantasm damage?

Let me try to answer your questions in order
The damage is the reason i’m using this build. I was running full confusion for awhile, and it just didn’t do it for me. I’m not saying it’s bad but not for me. The damage is definitly nice.
I use torch as a secondary weapon becuase i love the stealth honestly. Ive heard people say it’s a get away for bad players, but thats fine for me :P i still get away when i get in to deep.
Im running full zerker gear. And i just cant do WvW without the swiftness. I feel like a turtle.
With 30pts in deuling and my current gear im at about 40% crit. But i need to switch out a few more peices.
As for shattering. Does the +9% damage from each active clone affect the shatter damage? i assumed it did. But if not then yes ill switch. I was kind of torn on if should even shatter or not, since im more defensive not shattering, and do more damage.
Ill test that phatasm stuff right now!
Edit: Dosent seem to help the phatasm damage. At least on the target dummy.

I don’t get why you need boon duration. With Mantra of heal and Centaur runes, you should be getting 100% uptime. The runes will proc on both the discharge and the charge of the Mantra. Just remember there’s a 10s internal cooldown on the proc.

Sidenote: the damage output with Scholar runes is pretty obscene. By obscene I mean fun, and you, too, can scratch your head at people who think Mantra of Pain is underpowered.
The centaur runes dont proc off each cast of mantra of heal. Its very inconsistent and i don’t know why. I was going to submit as a bug, but it seemed so minor i doubt they would care. It really bugs me though.
Make sure you wait the 10s ICD.
Just tested it over and over and over again. Cus this would give me alot more flexibility. But it is inconsistent. I even put 10 points in chaos to make the swiftness 12 seconds so i knew i was waiting the 10 seconds. It still only goes off half the time.

Yes it does but there is a 15 second cooldown (This includes the 10 second swiftness) So you only have 5 second downtime in between where it’s still on cooldown. I have a video on my mantra build thread demonstrating how this works and how Centaur runes proc with Mantra of Recovery

well really u have to wait just 3 seconds since rune of centaur give u 20%+ swiftness, so is 12 sec speed buff
I would run the build Chaos Archangel described, but with GS + S/S (I already do run it with 30/30/0/0/10 + Centaur Runes):
GS gives you range and a knockback, S/S gives you melee dueling ability. Specifically, S/S gives you a block and invulnerability on short cd’s when traited. You also have Diversion and Distortion availble with Deceptive Evasion and high crit. And even your clones do non-trivial damage with this build, with all its damage boosts.
Just giving an update on my Mantra build. Now that ive gotten all my gear set. I absolutly love how hard it hits. Big numbers make me smile, and i dont think im going to apologize for that :P I do feel squishy at times, if i can see the enemy coming, im usually fine. But there are times when i get caught, and then i get quickly dead. Ive resigned myself to keep the 20 in chaos as well. I just love what it offers to much. Am i losing a small bit of damage? Yeah, about 200 power is a big hit. But the toughness and the safefall and the damage reduction helps me feel not so squishy.
Mantras take time to get used to, but ill never go back to confusion
Oh they nerfed the ICD to 15s? Lmfao.
