Menace's Hidden Plague-Mesmer Build
Oh you mean kinda like the build in my signature?
Only real difference is i have more healing you have more condition damage. And my build was made Pre-illusionists celerity nerf. Now its pretty much the same 0/20/30/20/0. But a permanent protection build is something that was viable before PU got a massive buff.
However I am curious. You have regen duration runes. Why? Through 3 traits you have gauranteed perma regen overall boon duration or protection duration would serve you better. And perma regen isn’t all that great since you are focusing more on condition damage than healing
(edited by jportell.2197)
Nope. Not your build in your signature. I have way more condition damage. I prefer condition damage. Bit different Utility/traits skills from your final build I see. Also way different stats. My build is more focused to condition. Yours is a little bit of everything, which i learned from my experience that it is not always the best idea. It is not the same my friend. BUt thank you for the feedback on the regen duration runes thing. I will update it later.

Actually my build has updated with mesmer changes I just didn’t post it because the updates just spread to those i play with by word of mouth. My current build for pve has been as such for a few months:
Healing/Toughness/Condi damage gear (so now my healing power is through the roof.
Traits are as follows:
0
20, (Protected mantras or desperate decoy), (Deceptive evasion)
30, (Illusionary Defense or debilitating dissipation), (Chaotic Dampening), (Prismatic Understanding).
20, (Glamour Mastery),(Restorative mantras)
0
Weapons include staff, Scepter Torch,
Skills are: Mantra or Recover, Veil, Decoy, Signet of inspiration.
Food is Omnom Cream, Master Tuning Crystal
My build has been attributed to keeping entire dungeon parties alive (glass thieves and warriors that would have died other wise). Reason being is because it focuses so much more on boon and specifically protection duration I have given entire party’s a full minute of protection. No small matter.
Not saying your build is bad but it is most definitely not the first to capitalize on PU. Maybe I should update my build to what I have been using since the torment addition to scepter. Also you should check out Chaos’ Archangels mesmer support spot light. I think he has several support builds from different poster’s on there just so you don’t double post builds Updated my pve build to what I have been using since 6/25
(edited by jportell.2197)
Yes i have seen chaos’ builds and there isn’t anything like it there. and plus this build is for wvw and PVP. I dont really see any reason for me using this build for PVE. Any class can do really well in PVE. That is where everyone shines. So I still feel that My build and yours is totally different. I believe mine is a bit more effective in wvw. PLus i never knew that you had a build like this. I promise. Just thought of it today….
Lack of research is all. Oh and I use this in WvW as too. It just floats across all modes easily. The downside to either of these builds in pvp is you won’t do much for your team. Your condition damage is out down by necros, warriors, rangers, engis. You lose the point when you go into stealth so your permanent protection is kind of a non-issue to the team. The only upside is when they are dumb enough to keep trying to kill you on the point and its three of them fighting one of you. Also in pvp I recommend iDisenchanter especially if you are fulfilling the role of a far point assaulter or a home point defender.
And it’s not Chaos’s builds it is a list that he compiled detailing all mesmer support builds made recently.
Yes. But you are focusing too much on the downside. It helps if you play my build and you will realize it can kill anyone, no matter how much defense or condition damage they have.
Edit: when you said you used this build in wvw too, did you mean your build or my build?? Cause I dont know. I dont think taht you would have been using this build since I just made it……

Been using MY build in WvW. However there really is not much difference you just have more condition damage and slightly less survivability due to less condi removal ( for wvw I use iDisenchanter in small roaming/duels and null field or mantra of resolve for bigger.) And I can kill ALMOST anyone (just so i don’t get a challenge from pyro lol ) its just out of a full attrition fight and tons of heals.

You know, menace – What server are you on, anyway? I’m wondering if I’ve run into you or not.

LOL. I’ve been reading his posts, it’s quite entertaining.
@pyro. I was talking about the majority, not just you pyro.
@Jportell. Yes i can see how you might kill lots of people. Good defense, condition, and healing. But I dont think it is good against stuff like the Condition Cat or other Condition Focused builds with lots of precision. My opinion only.
@ Advent. I am in Northen Shiverpeaks.
Edit: Pyro, if I can get good condition on you, your stuns ain’t gonna save ya, just saying. plus add to that the stealths options and healing. Peace.

My build can actually facetank two necros indefinitely in pvp and wvw. Actually got a few compliments from necrso such as Radd Nemesis (no not the other nemesis) on the difficulty of this build to kill. Condi mesmers are usually easy to deal with in it too but I must say condi mesmer is one of the more fun builds to play period.
Edit: and in Pvp your build will still perform sub optimally against pyro you may last alot longer than other fights you have had against him but I am guessing you will both duel in PvP and you can only get so much stat bonus there.

This is funny.
Hey menace, thanks for sharing your build. Here are 2 cents of objective feedback.
First, you have a decent build. If you’ve never seen jportell’s protection master before, credit to you for putting together a nice build. Fact is though, the focus of jportell’s build is the same as yours, perma-protection and regen. The damage that is dealt is just secondary and really just a variant, not a new build, IMO.
On another note, you advertise perma regen but you have very low healing power. Regeneration really shines with higher healing power and if you’re going to advertise it, even to the extent of using dwayna runes in the build which extend regeneration, I would try to get it ticking off at least 200/sec, which would require about 600.
Ty for aweseom feedback. Peace and good day to you sir.
Another idea for you, and this from one of my secondary sets of armour:
You want to go for Condition/Support(i.e. Regen/Prot), replace the Rabid Armour with Apothecary. You’ll lose Precision, but gain Healing Power to fuel the Regen. You could also mix Apothecary with either Settler’s (bit more Toughness than Apothecary, similar stat break overall) or Shaman’s (Vit/Healing/Condition). In my case, I went Apothecary/Shaman, but feel free to tweak things around.
As for your server, I think we’ve only fought NSP once … I may have fought ya, or not.

@Advent, I appreciate your help. Will definitely try to incorporate it in polished version if possible.
@Sckamow. The build’s purpose was actually not be protection regen entirely, I actually just wanted another version of PU condition mesmer build. I came across this one during my thinking.
Also, I believe that there are lots of people out there that tried every type of trait set up. I mean, there are like millions of players. I should think that someone already devised the Shattercat before Osicat did and actually tried it out. In my point of view, every new version of a trait set up is a whole new build. If the purpose of the build is also different, then it makes it even more unique. Just saying. no need to comment on this or anythin….

Hi Menace,
I highly suggest you to join our mesmer forum guild (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/OMFG-Official-Mesmer-Forum-Guild/page/2#post2741914) and work with Testers on your suggested build(s).
Testers are people volunteer to dedicate their time to run and test out new builds. By working with them in-game, you will benefit more and improve your build effectively with broad experiences.
Also, this is a bit off-topic but i think we should agree that the idea of posting a build on forum is to share the build with the community and if the build is proved effective and fun to play, people will acknowledge it and give the poster due credit.
If you think about it that way, your contribution to the mesmer playerbase would be far more important than build ownership matter. Your approach would be then likely to meet with more friendly discussion, especially when someone has already come up with similar builds before you.
In short, its more about sharing and caring, and less selling and yelling.
Ty Keenlam for invite. I know you mean it when you typed this, but i have a bad history with Pyro and all. So if I were to join, I would like to apologize again to Pyro first and him responding back, until then, peace…
You know guyz, now that i think about it, I dont neccessarily want the extra 40+ regen because 160 is enough. What matters is that this is sustained, and i feel strongly that me going settler or shaman disrupts the entire build, however, I am considering of using Sword/Pistol instead of Staff for extra bleeds. I feel that in doing so, I would be lacking a bit in my boons, but I also believe that my only source of Support for my teamates could be just Protection and Regen, therefore i am sort of considering the Sword/Pistol combo. The downside of me losing staff is me losing a good source of Aegis. I feel that with the staff, this build will have a bit tougher time against bunker Guards, Warriors, and Spirit Ranger. I’m not sure. I am just tryin to make extra precautions. Hope you guyz comment on this. Peace…
To be honest, I would decide and test which weapon set is better. If you like sword/pistol then go for it. If you like staff, then use it. Just test it out and see which weapon set fits your personal playstyle better. I personally do fine against the 3 classes you mentioned with staff. Your clones can block the ranger shots, and can kite the guard and war. All in all , just play what you like more, both work.
Retired.
Ty for comment Chaos. I thank you that you would rather want me to go with the weapon sets I like, But i would rather make weapon sets that is better majority situations wise and something that a lot of people in the Mesmer forum can appreciate. If you can, plz explain more deeply which weapon sets I should use against bunker enemies. Peace….
For majority, I would pick staff. It is better for solo and group roaming and still does good damage. Since you are using DE and the on death trait, the staff clones can die often and can stack a ton of bleeds on someone. Staff also gives the aoe and condis boons from chaos storm and clones. Another point is only staff gives constant burning. Also, one of the best ways to kill bunkers is to use the sigil of doom, which applies poison on weapon swap. Combined with torment, it can burst bunkers down quite fast. You can easily swap your accuracy sigil for the doom (its only 4 silver). Usually I only have doom on my scepter and then energy on my staff.
Retired.
Hmm, yes. I can just apply poison to those bunkers. I already had that sigil in PVP, but I didnt no if I should use it in WvW. Thank you for your help Chaos. I shall keep the staff. If you could, you dont have to, can u bring more people to this thread so they can take just a peek at this build? I feel that this build is pretty ok…. Peace…
Edit: Never Mind Chaos. you do your own thing. Forget the favor I asked you. Peace….

Yes. But you are focusing too much on the downside. It helps if you play my build and you will realize it can kill anyone, no matter how much defense or condition damage they have.
This just proves that you don’t listen to anyone. You can not make claims like this before you properly test a build. A few posts after you said this you also said “I just thought of this”. I know ALL of my post are always ragging on you. This build is by far the closest you have come to making a viable build. I am just trying to get you to realize that you simply cannot make claims like this like you have ALWAYS done right off the bat.
I CAN KILL YOU ALL NO DOUBT 100% GUARANTEED.
lol jk
but honestly, how can any player say they can kill anyone, any class, any skill level, etc. there’s too many varying factors. Someone can build a build just to counter yours. Someone may have way better actual gameplay skill and strategic mind than you. Can you kill anyone if they all came at once? i.e. 1vX? Someone might be better condition than playing a tired you. Who knows, so how can anyone ever say such a ridiculous statement? What’s more ridiculous is saying that this build, or any single build can kill anyone… Give it to a really really really bad player new to the game. You think they can kill anyone? These statements are just so ridiculous. You can tone it down and it will sound a lot more plausible. Like this build in the hands of a good player can easily win fights.
Regenerationand Perma Protection, thetwoone most useful boon[s] in the game
FTFY
160 heal per second? Will totally outheal damage… (Fyi, let alone burning does like 700 dps)
you will realize it can kill anyone
I lol’d
@Hexxen. Yes yess, I know. But you have to realize that I actually tested this build out before posting. Ty for being more calm with me. I appreciate that. Peacee…
@Inoence. A PU Mesmer COndition build is so op right now Inoence. I am sure taht you know how OP these type of builds are. You act like this healing does nothing in general, however, since all PU builds have good stealth, the 160 heal per second is maximized. Reason I said this build can kill anyone is because it has constant output of condition, just like any other PU Condition build. I was just thinking of using
Sword/Pistol to make it even more of a formidable foe. Peace…
I have updated the build in my very first post. It is better. It has lower overall boon duration, but it doesn’t really matter much because the boons I’m focusing on are
Protection and Regeneration, which can still be applied permanently with lower overall boon duration. I recommend the Signet of Inspiration because of the good Aegis, Swiftness, Regeneration, and Protection it provides. Because you have good stealth, it is sorta hard for enemies to put condition on you. Also the sustained Regeneration is enough in my experiences to put out conditions and be very useful in the long term. I would accept any suggestions. Plz comment regularly about anythin. Peace….
Dont you get annoyed when people just walk away from you? You cannot kill anyone unless they kill themselves and no CC or snare to stop them leaving. You could kill a suicidal person but not one who just walks past you. I guess it works when they are in a position when they have to kill something else near by, like defending a camp or something like that. It is very hard to kill though.
Hmm, yes. you are right. I should think that I need a bit more power or something. Peace..
you know, I thought that this build will need a little less changes, but I thought wrong. Coulter here graciously shed light onto me that this build will not be able to trigger a fight with the staff, well, that is what I have come to understand very well. I thank you Coulter personally. I will put up the updated build soon. One will be for solo roam, and other for small group or zerg. Hope you guyz like it.
I have updated the builds. The solo roam build is more than enough to be able to trigger fights. The group build has good allies heal and Long boon durations to spread to group. Since this group build lacks the Veil skill for more protection on stealth, what I like to do is spam all of my stealths, gain as much protection as possible, apply chaos storm on a part of an enemy zerg where I take decent damage, put on chaos storm and chaos armor, and watch as all the boons flow to me. Then I decide to spread all the boons that I have accumulated.
Guys, plz take a look at my updated WvW Solo&Group fight builds for the PU condition mesmer. I need all the help I can get on this build. I am wondering if perplexity runes are worth it. Im trying to keep up the protection duration and poison duration for more effectiveness in combat. I dont know. Plz comment on this.
“Please respond.”
- You don’t need to post 4 times… There’s an edit function
- Why do you keep renaming your build?
Because it should sound “cool” even tho there have already been a few builds that are like his out for a few months at least the name can be witty and original!
I have updated the Hidden Plague solo roam build. It is designed so that you won’t have to try to switch to the group version of the build so often. You can carry the solo roam build straight into a group battle with minor adjustments. It is very effective now in condition removal and healing. Hope you guyz enjoy it.
Hey guys – I’m trying to find a build that can kill anyone 100% guaranteed. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
menace – it’d probably be appreciated if you did some research, became familiar with the already established builds and then did some testing on your own builds before throwing them up on the forum the moment you think of them. Honestly, your posts are just clutter and ignoring them doesn’t help because you bump your own threads repeatedly. If you weren’t so persistent I’d assume you were just trolling.
Yes, I am sorry that I said that this build can kill anyone 100% guranteed. I just got caught in the moment of the conversation that it slipped from me. I did some massive testing you know, I dont really get why you think I just throw this build up. I thought about it, played it for quite some time, and posted it up here, and any good changes I can make I update the post. Plz have a look see at my build and comment on any feedbacks that you can give me. Ty and peace….
Edit: I want to have a good amount of protection, but still love the Perplexxity Runes, I also want a bit of poison in my arsenal. What should I go with? I personally would think of using Perplexity just because it is OP, and perma protection is really not neccessary unless in group fights, and poison for 7 seconds with food buffs seem ok too. What should I do???

This. Menace, you seem to have a decent grip on the game but get caught up on little things and gimmicks over effectiveness. I mean, that isn’t a problem, but it doesn’t belong on these forums bro. You can try but when you don’t get anything but hate, go ahead and STAHHP bumping your thread!

Yes i understand. I will try not to bump this thread too much. I am sorry. I apologize to the community. But can you plz give any feedbacks on this build? I really hope that you guyz will be able to try it out and see. If you really want to, I can give you my PvP build of it right now. I am using it as I type. and Overlord, that is my private matter, but I am not that young. lol. but not over 19 too.
Someone once told you, don’t bump your own posts. If your thread is interesting enough, it will be bumped by OTHER players.
So… stop self bumping! And don’t apologize for this. If you continually have to apologize, then you are continuously doing something wrong, try to fix what it is you’re sorry for!

Alissah! Thank you! I luve you!! Lol JK. BUt before you try it, I will post the build like right now. Hope you guyz also get to try it out in spvp.
Hey guyz, I have updated all possible combinations for my build, and in combination I mean situations. So far, there are WvW(Solo&Support) PvP(Solo&Support). I chose to have scepter as support for WvW, while I chose to have sword for support in PVP. Reason is because, in PVP, there is lesser space to move around, so melee weapons are essential. I really have not much love for PVE, so I am trying not to put it up here. I realized one thing over my testing experiences. Perma Protection is really not necessary for a PU build, because all that stealth and armor makes up for not having perma protection. This is my personal opinion, and if you get lucky, your stealths might just give you over 20 seconds of protection with only 30 points in chaos, and with no additional boon duration runes
WvW solo: Perplexity runes
WvW support: same runes as link
PVP solo: Undead runes
PVP support: Undead runes
WvW solo purpose: Roaming 1 vs 1+
WvW Support purpose: Small group/Zerg roaming
PvP solo purpose: Killing enemy NPC monters, Trebs, and taking on people by yourself. Best maximized if it is constant roaming, no holding caps
PVP support purpose: Good ally revive. Awesome boons and boon spread. good condition damage. Best for capping or roaming with more than one person.
(edited by themenaceofseventhdimension.2075)
Most people think that when you have a PU trait, you have to have tons of stealth skills, so they invest all their slots with unnecessary amount of stealth skills. If you are truly to maximize the potential of the extra 1 second stealth, you must first have a skill that you are able to use in that additional stealth time, to do that, I went with mantras and traited for extra healing when activating a mantra.
You can say how good your build is but calling out other PU builds that use massive stealth and saying they are unnecessary is over stepping it. The PU build I have uses all the stealths just fine thank you. As well as other PU builds that are out there are are tried and tested by a pretty massive amount of skilled mesmers. Also, there is more to being in stealth than just being in stealth. You mannuver yourself, you spawn your phantasms.
If you are truly to maximize the potential of the extra 1 second stealth, you must first have a skill that you are able to use in that additional stealth time, to do that, I went with mantras and traited for extra healing when activating a mantra.
This may just be you yet again messing up your terminology but the mantra trait heals upon that charge not that activation.
This is my last bump on your ridiculous build posts. You clearly have no idea what you are doing and you don’t listen to anyone and just say we are attacking you when “feedback” works both positive and negatively.
Last bit of advice like I said above, talk up your own build but you need to stop attacking other builds which you do here and have done in the past by saying they are ineffective or lack something that you build has miraculously compensated for. Most of your accusations have been wrong by the way.
Come back when you learn to take criticism.
