Mesmer Balance Changes
Yep. Basically we knew only half of the nerfs.
The buffs were only on already useless things instead of lacking but usefull/better things.
Some QoL (feedback/ Ether Clone)
Rework/buff on scepter was basically the 5%

Yeah I mean the best thing I see is the feedback being ground targeted after…. How many times it’s been asked for that change?
I’m glad they nerfed our access to resistance though, it was OP having BD apply 5 seconds of it on a shatter with a long CD.
Not liking the Chaos Armor/Dampening changes either. But I guess we see how it all plays out.
Still can’t believe they stuck with the aegis pulse for 3 seconds. So freaking stupid.

Ok, wait a minute, why was our Resistance nerfed? BD’s was on the shatter with the longest CD, and Temperal Enchanter is barely used as is. This doesn’t make sense to me.
I like the Mistrust change, though. I’ll be sure to try it out.

Yes, which is why condition mesmer in PvE works with bleeds mostly. Now conditions should outDPS power.
Scepter: Lazy slap-on of conditions on the AA and +5% on MS, the weapon’s cadence is still monstrously slow and clunky, skill 2 still useless. THIS is your big scepter rework, really?
Alacrity and Quickness, the only reasons anybody tolerated us in groups, nerfed heavily.
Feedback change only makes it slower and clumsier to use instead of being a near-instant single button press.
Chaos Armor and Chaotic Dampening nerfed, because staff was such a useful weapon before, right guys?
Duelist’s Discipline still useless because we have too many other offhands.
Restorative Mantras still useless because mantras are still useless.
Furious Interruption still useless outside builds you’re already destroying in many other ways.
Evasive Mirror still useless. Seriously in contention for Mesmer’s most useless trait, which is saying a lot.
Mistrust useless.
Malicious Sorcery already covered, absolutely pointless change that does NOTHING to address the problems with scepter.
Resistance nerf.
Well of Precognition joins the ever-growing garbage pile of worthless Mesmer utilities.
Thanks so much guys. Thanks for this. You outdid yourselves in proving again, has you have many times before, that you hate Mesmers and that them being strong and useful is considered an unacceptable problem.

You will still rely on AI (duelists) to apply it. (Ex. seekers will soak it up)
Look at the thief changes—thief will eat mesmer alive (again)…especially condi mesmer, because guarded initiation removes confusion on a 1s ICD.

The annoying part from this is:
- tempest auramancer slightly nerfed (duration of auras reduced) + celestial
- scrapper barely nerfed
- DH barely nerfed
- Reaper buffed
- Druid buffed
- Revenant nerfed, but will still have OP sustain in glassy amulets
- Daredevil buffed
- Berserker buffed
- Chronomancer: assassinated
So all the OP builds (condi and power rev, scrapper, druid) will still be there, the mildly OP will be fully OP (reaper), the non-OP will now be OP (daredevil), but mesmer is nerfed to the ground…
I am sorry but I do feel like the only class fully screwed by this patch.
Alacrity nerf seriously hurts.
And reapers are super scary. :o
The effect of 33% alacrity on shatter builds not running wells or shield, whether power or condition is awful.
Completely invalidates the build I was playing as cooldowns are all too long to justify the damage output.
That’s because we were the only one seriously screwed. Did some changes happen that will hurt other classes? Sure.
But kitten man, the buffs to thief alone are bad enough not to mention that the buffs to necro would eat a boon sharing Mesmer alive.
Meta for a couple months and people lose their kitten. I never played Chrono bunker as it’s not my style, but it was counter able and the buffs to those classes alone would have been enough to counter it
They actually nerfed Temporal Enchanter… because… Glamours… I don’t… wha…
Mesmer changes:
The change to Scepter is nice although they certainly made it sound more impactful. The change for Mistrust is good but I still feel it needs more. Interrupt builds currently don’t work. The change to Restorative Mantras was needed. The change to Duelists Discipline is nice but doesn’t solve the issue with the Duelling line as a whole.
The other stuff isn’t worth mentioning from my point of view. Our viability in PvE will still depend on Alacrity. I don’t see any improvements from a PvP perspective so we might be back to square one. And I also don’t think that those changes matter for WvW.
A change I enjoy:
King of Fires: This trait’s functionalty has changed. It now gives fire shield on a critical hit (15-second internal cooldown). Using berserker skills detonates any fire shield currently applied, inflicting 3 stacks of burning for 3 seconds to nearby foes. Increases outgoing burning duration by 33%.
I’ll miss my pre-Meta-Burnzerker but it was needed.
A change that made me laugh:
Stalwart Defender: Increased toughness gained when wielding a shield from 180 toughness to 240 toughness.
Why? This was just wasted time. For everyone.

Aye. I play a S/S Staff zerker shatter Mesmer and the changes to chaotic dampening/armor will hurt. The lack of blind will sorely be missed as it was a major way I was able to survive without having to use blurred frenzy and f4
I mean at least they could have boosted Flow of Time back to 1s per illusion…
Or increases MtD back to two stacks and made condi a better choice.
So the healing on mantras is increased from 2600 to 10,400?
Guess I’m not playing with the Chrono tree anymore. Or did I do my math wrong?

Basically healing power will affect it. Yet you have to spend stats there to have any effect.
So lets all sacrifice offensive stats even more ( power/precision/ferocity/condi/condi duration) to support rather the same

Most of the Mesmer changers are fine.
Alacrity changes are to much for chrono. This should have never been nerfed so hard. If outgoing alacrity was an issue all chronomancers should retain their 66% and make outgoing restore at a rate of 33%

So we get a very significant nerf (alacrity & quickness rez/stomp), and a couple of buffs to fairly niche traits makes that better? Also nerf some other traits, because reasons (glamour GM)
PvE:
We literally only got one actual damage buff in DD… Our support gets wrecked but we don’t get actual damage concessions to keep viable?
Scepter:
Scepter buffs look like bandaid cover-ups to convince people its not bad. Glad it’s more torment as it’d be a shame to have a broader range of conditions. When am I going to sit on Scepter with 3 illusions just for a couple torment?

I just liked the way they made it. (sarcasm)
So scepter is one of worst mesmer weps -> buffs = 5% and overdue QoL
Sword/Dagger of thief = best weapons ( and top dmg coeficients over all Sword/dagger wielders) -> buffs = 40% on dmg and ~30% (?) faster chain (attack speed)
I guess we got the amount of “love” when nerfing than other classes in buffing
Same applies to buffing: we got the same amount of love when buffing than other classes in nerfing.

Yes. Big numbers. 400% > 0.8.
That being said, it’s quite entertaining that basically every class aside from Necromancers is upset. Even Thieves. So yet another 3 months to wait, I guess?

This tiny piece of balance changes for each class is the much-hyped “quarterly balance patch”? With half the skills of every class practically being never used, that’s not even to mention traits, we get 1-2 dozen changes per class? Ugh.
At this dev speed, there’s no way they can keep up with a changing game. I was expecting balance changes per class as long as the entire all-classes list. :’(

I agree that I was expecting more damage modifiers to a broad range of skills, CD tweaks… that sort of thing. Just making bad traits marginally less bad is not a balance patch.

Well yeah. Thieves, guards, and ele’s have always been meta since I can remember. Thief gets pushed out and Katy bar the door buff them so that they’re even better +1’ers and decappers. (Can someone explain to me why there’s a problem with this amoung thieves? You choose a class that’s meant to be played squishy and “attack from the shadows” yet you want more build variety and stand on a point to tank it. Makes no sense).

I just went against 3 necros and 2 thieves. We still won tho, but kitten… I was the only mesmer.
I went Sc/Pis condi cancer to see how well it works. It’s pretty good.
I was ready to kitten my pants when I saw the team composition thought.
The composition means nothing if your opponents are not at your level or your team. The problem comes when you compete with the level of your league, qualifying, semifinals, etc. So, wait to the next season… We’ll see the wall and if we’ll be able to climb it or not.

Seeing as its F2P on top of everything else making me like this game, I’ll say that it’s DEFINITELY worth a shot, despite the horrid queue times (my server can go as high as 90 min before getting in, so it’s worth considering when loging in)
Plan something or log in a couple of minutes before being able to play, my own tips.
And beware of gold seller spamming the chat, otherwise the game is satisfying me more than gw2 did the past year.

Not everyone wants to play condi though… it’s super boring and takes no effort to spam condis and wait till your enemy dies… which is exactly where this next meta is heading. especially with all the resistance nerfs and then the boon corrupts on necro.
So sure maybe condi mes is ‘saved’ but its not gonna be any better than a condi necro or rev or even a war for that matter.
