Mesmer Personality Quiz! Exclamation Points!
Just a quick heads up, Mesmer’s balance preview is going to be the subject in the ReadyUp livestream this Friday at noon PDT
The ready up shows are almost always at noon pacific.
Perfect! I’ve been trying to decide between elementalist and mesmer, given the state of the two classes. This should help out tremendously before I start investing in supplies!
Yea I just found this out from the spvp forums. I am really nervous for what is going to happen to us, anything could happen honestly.
6am my time. I can confidently say I won’t be waking up for it.
Still think bug fixes on iWarden and iLeap are way more important than any of trait/skill changes.
As long as they don´t touch CI I´ll be fine…
I’m hoping they nerf iWarden back to what it was before the “buff”.
MY BODY IS READY
What Exciton, Schattenlied and MailMail said.
Good, I was getting really impatient.
Now I can just be nervous.
my 2 fav classes! Excited
Yeah let us hype new Bugs and “1k healing”-Traits they will add.
Cant believe anyone is Excited about this…
My two main classes!^^
The mesmer has seen adjustments in a few areas. For this update, we’re looking at improving multiple traits, utility skills, weapon skills, and illusions. We’ve taken a look at some of the new grandmaster traits and improved upon their original implementation. We’ve altered the scepter a bit, pushing it more toward the condition role we would like it to have. In addition, you’ll see some awesome improvements to offensive mantras and a rework of the Mimic skill, which will now copy all boons on your target to yourself.
Mimic seems like it will be a great skill now. Can’t wait to see what happened with scepter too!
Mimic would need to be instant cast for it to be useful in the new form imo.
Not to incite unwarranted hype, but I was curious … did anyone else notice something odd about the Mesmer/Necro picture on the blog post this week that gave us a vague outline of what is to come?
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/balance-changes-in-the-september-2014-feature-pack/
Namely, the picture shows the Mesmer has cast Illusionary Leap at the Necro. There are a full set of illusions (2 clones and 1 phantasm) out. Notice, however, that the back Mesmer (where you would expect the player to be) has no animation showing, something you would expect considering: (1) the distance between the Mesmer and Necro, (2) the lunge animation of the other two Mesmers, and (3) the animation/timing for Illusionary Leap you currently see in game.
I suspect the back Mesmer is actually a clone, and the ability has been changed to leap the Mesmer forward. What this means for Swap and the immobility I don’t know. What do you think?

Great observation!
Maybe we’ll now summon an illusion on the current position of the target and then leap to them on the second activation…
Interesting
I am pretty sure those two Mesmers in the front are regular sword clones doing their third AA chain attack, Mind Spike. Cause that’s exactly how the animation looks.
Interesting thing happened:
Anet employee was running with us in wvw and on our ts. So I took the time as I always do when I see anet running in the group, to bemoan the state of the mesmer. What he said was interesting:
“It is a common misconception that the Mesmer is full of bugs. That is not actually true, a lot of these things work as intended.”
that is what he said. I have to admit I was a tad ticked. I do kind of with I had pressed the issue a bit, but I did not. Problem is not just the bugs but the massive constant nerfs to memser that bug me. But I just thought it was interesting.
Either way I still play Mesmer, find it a lot of fun. Frustrating, but still fun.
I’ll keep an eye on this, but it has to be some pretty kitten revolutionary changes to make me reinstall.
Now that I look close at the image I want to confirm something. The off-hand weapon is proberly a torch but don’t you think it could also be a scepter?

It has been awful to play Mesmer for a long time (I play since Launch. My PvP graph is so freaking purple.), and some dev that certainly doesn’t play Mesmer (like any other dev at Anet) says that the class is working as indeed? Based on what?
Just.. wat :^)?
That’s a regular Ley Line torch wielded as offhand.
And the clones are regular sword clones doing their AA.
Stop seeing things.

Are you kittening serious?! That’s kittening insane! Two possibilities: 1) Things are not working as intended at all and this idiot is a kittentard who doesn’t know what he’s talking about (how hard is it to get a job at a game company anyway? Being a scientist myself I can say from experience that just being able to code something doesn’t make you smart or really have that much ability to think clearly at all).
or 2) Things are working as intended, meaning Anet has absolutely no kittening clue what they are doing with the class if this is the intended kitten product of their work on it. Again my parenthetical remark above is relevant here.
That is hands down the most stunning thing I’ve ever heard regarding this company.
That ileap would be cool though, and considered a huge buff. It’s essentially the offensive version of Staff 2.

Offensive phase retreat instead of the unreliable thing we call ileap? Yes please.
hope they fix the fact arcane thievery doesn’t work if there is even a 2mm difference in terrain height between you and your target =/
If it was an “offensive phase retreat” would it require a target? I really hope not but given how some illusion summoning skills fail without a target this might be the case.
Also what does the sword clone do if swap is still a mechanic? Sit there doing nothing? Slowly walk over to our target so that swap moves us no where?
If this rework does really happen I’d prefer iLeap not initially spawning a clone. Then have some functionality like thief sword 2 that allows us to move back to our original location. It could require a hit to proc. Make it turn into a phase leap so that we can leap in and out and spawn a clone on our way out.
What happens to the cripple/immob though? and this wouldn’t necessarily be ideal for shatter IP spike if you have to leap away to immob and spawn a clone.
Still think bug fixes on iWarden and iLeap are way more important than any of trait/skill changes.
Exactly what i think!
Fix the bugs instead of implementing new features/traits which will be obviouly also buggy xD

Devs are allowed to go on players TS and give them inside information on the game? That seems a bit odd to me.

Do you remember the name of said Anet employee?
I can say with 100% certainty that there are less than 10 people within the company of anet that have the position of knowledge and power to make that statement. It’s both highly unlikely that you met any of them, and it’s even more unlikely that they would say that.
Edit: And pretty much none of those people would hop onto a player TS that they didn’t know.
For this update, we’re looking at improving multiple traits, utility skills, weapon skills, and illusions.
Maybe – just maybe … I’ll throw in some items: Rune of Strength, Scholar, Sigil of Force, Accuracy. Maybe some nice additions would be: Spotter, Sigil of Fire, Air, …
From the looks of what they posted, it seems we’re getting a big possible chunk of love this time around.
If you read other profession overviews of what is changing and compare it to ours it seems like Mesmer has a lot of changes coming.
Hopefully they’re good fixes.

True.. Just gotta stay positive, but this is Anets last chance for me. If this isn’t positive changes and fixes I’m gone for good.

Seemed odd to me too but they knew some people in one of our servers guilds.

I don’t remember no. Who knows maybe it was someone trolling. But this person did know some people in a particular guild which is why they were on our TS. But they were chatting about this person being an anet guy before I made the Mesmer comment.
EDIT nope he was on again tonight, with the anet tag.
