Hey guys, I’m in need of a new mouse! Been using the steel series GW2 mouse since a month or so into release. But it’s over worked, less responsive, and my hands sweat a lot no matter what I play, so you can imagine what the maintenance that’s like with a white mouse trying to keep it some what nice xD lol. I chose to ask about it here being that mesmer is my main and has a few more buttons compared to others.

Anyways I’ve been thinking of the naga hex, I’m already used to just 4 buttons so +2 is… Well +2 =D. But to be totally honest I’m unsure if I’d use more than 4 or 5.
With my current set up I use my mouse for all of my weapon skills excluding auto attack, and 2,3,4,5 on my keyboard for the shatters. The Naga Hex would be great for this, hell I could even move my auto attack to it presuming the mouse feels comfortable

The other nagas though seem to have the page up, page down buttons on the side and then 4 rows of 3. Although the other naga have TONS of buttons I’d go, page up, page down 1,2,3 (first row) and get all my attacks in one go, and I question if this might be more comfortable. Compared to the Hex.

Ps. I’d love the MMO R.A.T but that’s a bit out of my range.

TL;DR read the bold text.

Give me your your thoughts on what you think would be more comfortable please. Also don’t hesitate to share your mouse and setup.

Logitech G700S wireless mouse
17 buttons – all programmable with the LGS software
Wireless or Wired (I play with it wired but with the batteries removed to keep it lighter)

One one the reasons I use this mouse over the Razer ones is because the razer ones are quite small. Also Logitech > Razer as far as reliability is concerned.

I have the Naga 2012 edition and LOVE it. Weapon swap set as roller click, have Elite set as Zero and the rest are kept the same really, love the feel of it. Good size and has interchangeable sides as well to adjust for hand size.

Razer Naga Molten for me. At first it felt awkward but after getting used to it I’m feeling very comfortable.

Since you asked about set-ups (you may have to view a model of a razer naga as you read this), I place the profession mechanic f2-f4 side by side in the mouse buttons specifically button 1, 4 and 7, since they are the ones on longer CDs and therefore has no need being in a more welcoming position.

Beside the left mouse button the Razer naga has additional 2 more buttons. I’ll name the foremost as button A and the nearer to you as button B. Button A I designated it as my heal skill, accessible by my right forefinger at all times, button B is the f1 skill mechanic, since having a low CD merits it this spot, letting my forefinger have some share of the load. The scroll button is my weapon swap tool.

Then for the weapon skills. Buttons 2, 3, 6 and 9 are for weapon skills 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively, having been arranged so that the shorter CDs are more comfortable to the thumb, while the higher CDs require the ocassional effort of thumb reaching.

Button 12 is where I designated my elite skill, since it is usually the one with the highest CD and therefore merits the spot where my thumb would require the most effort to reach. The rest of the buttons are for the utilities, which only a few have lower CDs than that of weapon skills.

Spacebar is for my autoattack. Left Alt is the jump button. Rest go unchanged. This let’s my WASD and QE get more attention now that I don’t have to flip a finger every now and then to the default skill 1 key.

This setup lets me have my left hand focus on mobility, and my right hand focus on the skills. Do note that Naga Mouses have a trainer stickers which you can attach to select buttons so as to memorize the locations of your key bindings (they are designed to fall off after some days of playing).

And turn off the mouse lights when you play. It gets hot. Just turn it on when impressing chicks lol.

I hope it helps..

Is my mouse of choice. The additional, bindable index finger buttons are invaluable.

Not sure if the mesmer forum is the right place for this thread, but I’ll throw my hat in for the g600 as well. It’s like the Naga, but fewer misclicks.

It takes a week or so to get used to gripping it with your pinkie finger (the ring finger rests on a shift button), but once you do, it’s great.

Here’s my purpose xd

I have a 3 buttons mouse (Razer Deathadder) and I don’t feel I need more buttons. I also sweat as hell and mouse is working the same as the first day. Having it for 1,5 years using it nearly everyday in all situations.

This is how I play:

I have healing and blink in lateral buttons and elite skill in roll. the other 2 utilities are in !z" and “x”.

The key for me is to move using qwe instead of traditional wasd. This gives me more acces to F1-F4 and 1-5 buttons, so I don’t suffer when fighting.
With thumbs I control heal and utilities without the need of moving other fingers.
With index fingers I control the skills with longest CD (Distortion, Diversion, Elite and 4, 5 weapon skills).
And with middle finger I manage shatters and the rest of weapons skills.

The best part is that you can use these kind of mice in more “serious” situations, cause taking your mmo mouse it can be awkward and freak at work xd Also there’s no need of having 2 mice…

I’ve had one for about a year and I love it. BUT, I had to send it back in May because it stopped mousing. They replaced it at no charge but just something to be aware of.

Razer Naga Gaming Mouse. 12 buttons on the side and I use them all. It took a good deal of getting used to but once I got it under control I noticed an extreme increase in my response times. Never look back. 12 Buttons is the way to go. ^^

Personally, I love my razer Naga 2012 edition, took a little while to get used too, but I couldn’t live without it now.

Mice I can advise:

  • The Logitech G500. I have this thing for ~3 years now, and it’s still in rock-solid perfect condition. It is in fact my second, my first had a defect from the start but Logitech replaced it immediately. Absolutely unbreakable as far as I am concerned. 1 point deducted because the centre of the three thumb buttons cannot be mapped directly (have to use a key macro).
  • Roccat Kone XTD. My GF has this, and it’s heavy, sizeable and so shiney it hurts your eyes. It’s software is quite bad, but you only need it once so it could be worse. The mouse itself is amazing. Glides better than my G500, and has a better click-point, too. Nice side buttons, lots of lights, good DPI settings and a voiceover for feedback.
  • Saitek Sensei. I am considering getting one after using one for a while now. The software is insanely bad, but the mouse is just as good as the software is bad. Plus, leftie-capable, a big plus for me (I could perfectly use the left hand if I wanted to).

Mice I would advise against:

  • Anything from Razer. Too pricey for the mediocre quality you get. Ok as mice, but not for the money they ask for them.
The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.
