Are there any plans to address Mesmer damage in PvE. When compared to all the other zerker specs we have Elementalists at the top, Warriors a little behind etc… but Mesmers are at the bottom barrel.
For the record, I play a Guardian. I’m just curious as to why Mesmer damage isn’t up to par with all the other PvE damage specs, especially since the class is so squishy and situational.
I’d love to get some feedback from the community and the development team.
What am I reading?! Mesmer have the highest single target damage in dungeons with phantasm builds….I recommend you to look it up on the mesmer forum. Thieves come second, third is warrior, followed by eles which without FGS they actually rank among the last DPS, so basically eles DPS comes from a bug which might get fixed soon. You are greatly uninformed, my friend!
As for squishy, I would like to remind you that the squishiest class out there is the elementalist, which lacks any clone, stealth, armor, health, utilities (cantrips) on less than 75-90 CD, and has nerfed healing skills.

Mesmer dps is misleading. In giant test the time is bad as mesmer cannot buff himself and needs time to ramp up 3 phantasms. In group settings (full buffed ) @)and just onephantasm up mesmer dps= warrior dps.

If there is a wall, and 2 warriors and 1 guardian ele is top dps with some awful boring builds.
Otherwyse nothing beats a warrior ….
When i switched to mesmer was because i hated low dps of ele <.<
I still hate how HIGH HP, HEAVY ARMOR deals more dps than light low-mid HP….
GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
… and a warrior deals even more damage with a guard than a 2nd warrior. Same for Mesmer or Engineer.

Mesmer damage is super duper high. This is modulated by your ability to keep the phantasms up, but even with 1-2, you’re doing very well. And no other class has the ability to increase everyone’s damage like Time Warp can.
The video is also missing some of the latest updates to the mesmer dps builds. It’s more optimal to go 10/30/0/20/10, and to use empowering mantras on your dueling 30. With 3 mantras powered up (recovery, resolve, concentration) you get even more damage.
Mesmer damage is ok like any other class, not low, nor super duper high (unless 3 iWarlocks on dwayna 25k <3). The question is allways: Will you count passive damage for yourself or for others? If you do it for yourself we got an Elite that simply deals about 175’000 single target and 525’000 cleaved damage. But nevermind ye? It’s passive damage.

It’s more accurate than the one Brazil made since I made it yesterday. (it’s not with a full phantasm build)
And with the same setup, it could be done faster since the warden kinda bugged for both kills
From what I’ve tested a 30/30/0/0/10 build (like what Jerem posted) with 3x Mantras and 3x Phantasms sustains some very impressive damage, ranking near the top. Fire Staff elementalists with the right build can sustain a bit higher DPS and can burst higher with summoned elementals. These are both situational though and not fully sustainable in most situations. Again, what I’ve seen from my personal solo testing, could be different in group settings.

Probably should have used a duelist. Warden bugged out and since you are using a mantra build with 10 or 30 in domination, and this is supposed to be a DPS test, why not use mantra of pain/distraction at least once for a dps boost while keeping the mantras at 1 charge. I’m sure you could have gotten 13 and 16 seconds with the two builds tesed, maybe lower.
with some awful boring builds.
