To all the players attacking the origional poster and defending Mesmer. Yes Mesmer is broken and insanely OP right now. Yes I play Mesmer, and yes I am admiting a class I play is unfair at the moment because it is. The class almost takes no skill to pull off ludicrous amounts of damage while having some of the best active defenses in guild wars two. Don’t kid yourselves trying to suger coat and pretend the Mesmer is fine… Lol it is far from it. Best Mesmer player in the world even stated they are broken as hell.

Nope, mesmer is perfectly balanced. In fact, it’s never been more balanced, it’s probably the most balanced class in the history of gw2 atm. Don’t kid yourselves and pretend mesmer is op, it’s just a l2p issue.

Also, If I play Mesmer, and I beat a Mesmer in a fight, decapping, killing, and capping his point, is Mesmer OP because I beat the other Mesmer, or UP because the Mesmer lost? The OP should be able to tell us; fountain of wisdom and all.

To the OP, regarding rangers – the power longbow builds are weak against mesmers yes, but that is a ranger problem to do with their stunbreaking abilities.

Yes I also believe confounding suggestions should have a 10s ICD per foe (and mantras reverted back to background recharge) which would fix the stun problems.

Everything else with Mesmer is perfectly fine.

For the record my primary alt has been a melee power gs+sw/d ranger and I have zero problems fighting power mesmers with the ridiculous amount of evades, nevermind quickness on pet swap, maul damage and so on. And escaping condi mesmers is likewise easy given how hard it is for them to land damage in the first place and how weak that damage is.

People will cry hard that chrono is OP. And after things settled in a month, you start to have 4 scrapper meta^2 in tournament.

In PvP snap ground target will benefit engineer a lot.

Anet needs to make a sticky “mesmer OP QQ” thread already they come around so often.

Game isn’t balanced around common players but top players. It’s about top level play and what classes are capable of. If you balanced around common players then in top players’ hands things could be ridiculously op compared to other things.

I hope you keep in mind, that the MMR in PvP is kept for each class separately (as far as I know). Meaning if you usually play above the average the system will need to find the appropriate matchups when you hop on another class. How many games did you play with Mesmer already?

I agree that Mesmers have many awesome tools, especially in the areas of mobility, survival (not to confuse with tanking) and controlled burst. But just listing all the utilities we (can) have, doesn’t really make a compelling case. This game can be played with all professions. I would love to see you play and witness how easy it is as Mesmer for you.

I personally play mainly Mesmer and Neromancer and with both I can deal with Mesmers quite easily. The burst is actually in most cases really predictable. Mesmer is unproportionally strong against players with low skill. But the strength evens out the more you get to the top.

Oh F here we go again. Don’t you hate threads like this? “OP” "OP and “OP”. what defines “overpower”? people use the term so loosely these days. If anything good about a particular class but their own class do not possess, it’s automatically OP. We got threads like war is OP, guard is OP, Nec condi is OP, thief burst/veil is OP etc…. the whole concept lost the meaning don’t you think? who is it that is OP , make up your mind.

There is by definition n-1 overpowered professions in this game. So sad I play the other one.

I don’t mind, and I even encourage “X is OP” – threads, as long as they contain some logic and are based on facts.
Discussions about certain balance issues is a valuable indicator for Anet when they look to improve balance. I’m pretty sure they have some stats to look at how much certain classes and traits are played, and if the stats support the crying in forums, that’s a pretty good clue that something is wrong. PU was a good example.

But this thread. This thread should’ve been over after the second post, as the 66666 supermesmer with 2 amulets the OP described, is sadly a myth.

I had a friend on an enemy server approach me because a guildy said he would report him for hacking.

I calmly told my guild member what traits they were using, and that this thief was not hacking.

The whole misunderstanding could have been avoided if my guildy was actually familiar with the traits on thief.

Likewise this whole thread would not exist if OP was truly familiar with mesmer.

Life as a mesmer, joy…. :^)…. This thread was a dried up raisin from the start, There’s no point in continuing but I know it will so..oh well
