Guild Wars 2

Go figure, I mention the idea of getting all of us Mesmers together for a duel/sparring situation … only to find out that Chaos Archangel and Pyroatheist had been discussing a similar concept. So, let’s put the question out there … who’d be up for something of this nature?

Im thinking it could work as a guild in addition to a persistant thread. We can have people sign up as teachers or students, host bi-weekly tournaments, and schedule trakning times. I only have a US account so Id need someone on the EU side to help co ordinate.
We can put together a little application too, to categorize what kinds of Mesmer playstyles people are running and/or want to learn.

I’m all for this and would fully participate. We could permanently create our own PvP server just for this I presume? It would be great to test some theory-crafted builds with you all.

Something else I’ve thought about for awhile and have interest in doing is having a group of people (whoever is interested) to try/test new builds mesmers create and post here on the forums. I think the easiest way to do that would be PvP since it’s the most cost effective means. Not saying this has to be super organized, but people posting builds on the forums would know there are folks who have expressed interest in helping test/validate various builds, etc. Maybe we could make this part of the dueling/training idea, I don’t know – think it fits or should be handled separate?

EDIT: Chaos, +1 on the guild idea and everything else you suggested. Maybe we could add one additional category (per my post) – teachers, students, and testers?

That’s an awesome idea. Zumi had a similar idea for the Mesmerized podcast where a build would be tested and commented on by Pyro/kylia.. I think it’d work pretty well for the guild/thread.

Maybe the whole thing doesn’t need to be so specific, why not create a “GW2 Mesmer Forums Guild?” Where people can also find help/groups/tutoring for PvE/WvW and dungeons?

The corresponding Guild-thread could have updates on weekly schedules, PvP runs, dungeon runs, ect. People can try out eachother’s builds and give feedback. We could even do a sort of “Build of the Week” where a specific build gets put on display and our testers comment on their experiences with it.

So.. Combat-specific guild/thread, or all-encompassing?

I like the all-encompassing idea in principle, but not sure if it should go with the combat-specific idea. Maybe create a guild for both? Sure in both there is a training element, but very specific to each focus. I’m in for whatever is decided.

This sounds like a great idea. When I get home this evening I’ll put something together. I have an na account and an eu account, and can coordinate with Fay for the eu side as well, so I can cover both server sets.

There definitely should be only 1 guild. Most of us are close to that 5 guild limit I’m sure, and 2 guilds would get messy. The same problem exists with threads, more than 1 thread will get messy I feel.

The only problem with making a guild for both concepts, is that some of us (me, for example) aren’t walking around with much space for extra guilds. I will admit, however, that the overall concept could definitely pump up the skills of all involved. Which, at least from my perspective, was the initial idea.

Great thing is that we’ve already got ways to converge the NA and EU sides. Hat’s off, on that one.

Ranks – Tester / Teacher / Scholar

Any forum thread related to the guild will have the [MFG] tag in front of it? We’ll update bi-weekly with new events, schedules, ect?

We’ll have a person assigned to oversee sPvP, PvE, WvW, and Dungeon events.

The same guild could also be used as a mesmer in-game “forum” : D. People with mesmer related questions can simply whisper “teacher” ranks and get a quick answer ^__^.

I remember signing up for some mesmer school months ago, but the thread and idea was abandoned :/.

It will also be nice to have my kitten handed to me by better players every once in a while :P

Im on EU btw, and not sure if guilds can contain both EU and US.

That’s why I prefer more unique tags. Our guild is called Rogue and our tag is [DIFB]. No one knows what if means unless they ask (Do It From Behind), but it’s very unique.

imo you get better by dueling other classes. 80% of any fight is knowing what the other guy is going to do. As mesmers we know our own moves pretty kitten well already so there isn’t much to learn.

I’ve always found other Mesmers to be one of my hardest fights, because they know what I’m going to generally pull out. As for other classes, there’s a reason I’m working on all 8. /cue evil laughter

? im confused, are you trying to educate me on what the acronym stood for or are you trying to persuade me that it doesnt refer to profanity?

which it does “Oh My ******* God” and Anet are a lot harsher than what my opinion dictates. im not trying to be a killjoy i just wouldn’t like to see the guild get shut-down in its prime -_-

F could stand for anything like flying, floating, fat, fluorescent, etc.

yep sending me hate mail lmao thats cool, not you advent xD, but this doesnt rectify the issue, it still puts the guild at risk, one guy murders a school that doesnt make it A-OK to stab someone, little extreme of a comparison and considered a hyperbole but you can see my point, i just worry for the guild thats all.

This is the curse of playing a “T” rated MMO. Fact is, someone can pick any name/tag to get torqued off by. We’re Mesmer players, if it happens, we have enough brains amongst us to pick an even funnier name.
