Mesmer is weak
I agree that in PvP mesmer is a bit lackluster compared to all those op spec, But mesmer is definitely not WEAK 1vs1.
In dungeons, mesmer does struggle a bit to dish out high dps. But the strong support and utiliy from the class is often enough to win a spot in the team
Mesmer is not weak, in fact it has been buffed several times recently. However it cannot compete with the current celestial meta in team fights. Mesmer can still work, but you need to be very coordinated with your team to do so, as it now takes a bit of work to remove a celestial ele and occasionally an engie which is a lot to handle when you have a thief on you at the same time.

Are you for real? I own as mesmer.
Dude.. Mesmer is monstrous in 1v1s against nearly all classes. What build do you run?

Do you have plans to improve mesmer?
and why:
in pvp
mesmer is weakest in 1vs1 .
in Dungeon
not strong nor as dps nor as support (Occasionally they throw you out for it that you want play mesmer but it is ok bigger problem in pvp)I enjoy just Mesmer so I wanted to know whether it will change or not.
I wanted to know because otherwise not worth for me to keep playing GW2
Not sure if serious. This mesmer guy is able to solo the full Thaumanova fractal level 50. The class is not weak in dungeons. It is fantastic with a “ridiculous amount of unique mechanics” (quoted from the epic mesmer guy)

This is absurd. If PvP was based around 1v1s, mesmer would be god tier. It’s only because PvP absolutely isn’t based around 1v1s that mesmer is weak.

The devils in the details. Focusing on your question in particular, what do you mean by “improve”?
I get the general idea, I’m sure. You’d like it to become easier, with more easily applied AoE spam, easy access might stacking, improved spammable condition application, all while being uber tanky. Ultimately you’d like to be able to faceroll without proper appreciation for the class or the care to succeed with it.
Why not just roll cele ele, turret engie, hambow war, or any other easy pees’ meta “cheese” (not actually cheese, just working a phat rhyme).
It’s hard to do. It’s gonna take a lot of work, but you’ve just got to learn to mesmer.
Mesmer isn’t weak, but almost every meta that wasn’t the first quarter of release (when no one knew how to fight it and would get lost in clones) would over shadow any viable specs.
1v1 mes is strong at a high skill cap on shatter, and a moderately difficult skill floor. (low skill floor to moderately high cap for PU and Phant.) So naturally you need to try harder to succeed. But that’s offset by the abundance of lower risk builds that counter it head to head such as any heavy condi build, and most celestial specs. To make things worse most of the glass cannon counter parts have significant advantages over it. Such as fresh air ele having little to no setup, medi guards being able to out last it while contesting points, as well as thief’s nartual mechanics shutting down Mesmer’s set up.
Mesmers are by no means weak but they require wayy to much coordination on specific team comps for them to be worth while, and 1v1 you get a lot fewer mistakes compared to other builds.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
lol mesmer is weak? omg i play lockdown roamer in wvw and its beast staff scepter/focus with reflect trait is amazing i really love full glass ranger with LB Temporal Curtain and they are dead by her own spike

I mean to don´t have a chance to kill predominantly class in celestial armor (warr, ele , engi )
have more stamina than Mesmer put damage with berk armor.
It’s frustrating when you stand 1200 target distance you have 3 copies and his life goes up ……..
and when he goes after you basically do not have a chance.
Because Mesmer not kill him and he will soon yes
I’d love to see them restore Mimic back to it’s former glory but I highly doubt they’d do it :\. It was one of those unique utilities no one expected you to run and take ppl by surprise. If it does return it would provide a nice counter to those rapid fire rangers.

Why? nobody use it b4 as it was…. & even less as it is. My suggestion, remove it & replace it with something new & useful. This game has a lot of un-useful fluff for traits, skill & others… time to clean the garbage out. Replace by new & innovative stuff that will make players go WoW!!!

Why would you want players go to World of Warcraft :c
I asked if there was a good mesmer build in the spvp lobby, and to my surprise, the consensus was no.
PU is a terrible build. Yes it bunkers, but you’ll lose the point your holding, while bunkering… so what’s the point of it?
Shatter is a terrible build. Yes, if they all hit, your opponent will die, but that doesn’t make it a good. It’s like all these traits are based on using your clones, and your clones have all these skills, but if you just blow them up instead you’ll win…..
…unless your opponent dodges, and then you’ll lose.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.
The oldschool mesmer thief guard warrior ele comp that TCG used to run is hell of a lot better than the cele meta in PvP, the thing is that it’s 10 times harder to pull off. The biggest downside to that comp is the mesmer. It’s a beast but the issue is that you have to babysit the class. 99% of mesmers play like kitten and can’t kite which makes it really hard to babysit it. If you have a mes that knows how to kite and position yourself properly, your job is a hell of a lot easier.
Mesmer strips boons like a maniac, almost all players in the cele comp rely on boons. A player that relies on boons with no boons is a dead player. The biggest mistake most people make is stomping the cele players, they they’re back after 15s and it takes a minute to kill them again. The best thing you can do is to leave them to bleed off point. Then they’re out of the game for 1 minute or possibly 2.
Mes isn’t weak 1v1, it’s really good, just not on point and it isn’t easy to learn how to 1v1 with, very unforgiving.
The reason why mesmers shouldn’t 1v1 in PvP is that they can get +1’d and most of the time die (I did win a few 1v2s though but players were really bad) Truth be told I’m not that good at 1v1 because I am never required to do it.
I think mes has great DPS in dungeons, though I’ve never played anything else in PvE. The utility is also amazing. I switched to a s/f + s/p setup for dungeons. Illu duelist out DPSes the swordsman IMO and is safe at distance the entire time.
Everyone saying mes sucks in PvP is just really unskilled, playing the class with the wrong mentality and/or unexperienced. It works like a charm, but not everyone can play it right.
