Moa Morph: Targets transformed by this skill have 5 new and less-frustrating skills, and this skill can also be used underwater to turn enemies into tuna. This skill now removes Death Shroud from the target instead of the necromancer being stuck in Death Shroud.

so… ok we can use it in the water… but why make a skill designed to frustrate people, for a short period of time, on a long cooldown, less frustrating? -_-

Portal: This skill’s recharge has been increased to 90 seconds.

I don’t think this will effect a lot, other than for those who use it regularly in combat, but either way, it’s a nerf.

Illusionary Duelist, Phantasmal Swordsman, Phantasmal Mage, Phantasmal Defender, Phantasmal Disenchanter, Phantasmal Rogue, Phantasmal Warlock, Illusionary Mariner, Illusionary Whaler, Phantasmal Berserker, and Phantasmal Warden: These skills must now be cast in line-of-sight of the target. These skills now behave as normal attacks that the mesmer must connect in order to summon the phantasm, and they will fail if the mesmer is blind or the ability is cast on an invulnerable target.

I suspect most of us saw this coming, but still, it removes one unique utility feature we had. IMO this wasn’t needed due to the relative ease of destroying any of our illusions. Definitely a severe nerf. I wonder if this means summons can also be dodged, etc. if they are going to take out the utility and require these skills to behave like all other weapon attacks, then I think we should get sigil bonuses on them as well.

There’s going to be a huge amount of complaining as we’re used to with the Mesmer forum, but honestly I don’t see myself being negatively affected at all, and I had no desire to be buffed in any way.

At least we aren’t Engineers who were told they’d be getting a lot of fixes, only to get ZERO major issues fixed.

I don’t like the Portal CD increase because it doesn’t fix the actual issue with Portal (which is all to due with rendering and culling) and will just limit the creative use of Portal within active combat. Now it will be saved to used for Portal Bombing and pretty much that only. I like using it for misdirection within battle, but at that CD rate, I might as well only have it for called culling. =/

I do hope they really fixed Phantasmal Haste. Still no word on fixing or standardizing the regen, retaliation and fury for Phantasm traits.

The portal nerf should have been something like “maximun number of portal uses reduced to 5”.
It will still be abused in wvwvw porting massive zergs instantly, all this change did was make jumping puzzles less forgivable for us.

I was expecting some nerfs to our surviability and damage department, in that way I am happy with this patch, but thieves are still murder machines in pvp.

The portal changes were incredibly pointless. A zerg typically has 3 or 4 mesmers, an extra 30 sec CD changes nothing. It does however mean PvE mesmers and their parties may have to sit around and sing campfire songs while they wait for the CD when leveraging it. Making the portal die after say, 5 uses would’ve resolved this

As for removing our last ability that can hit guys on top of walls, I ask Arenanet: “What do you propose we do in WvW? – Throw insults?”

I’m really not happy about the Phantasm Line of sight / blind changes. Illusions can be negated really easily already and now with blind… that’s another way!

Phantasms aren’t normal spells so i don’t see why they’re treating them like they are. What’s next… are they gonnna make the phantasm just a spell effect and not a physical construct? >.>

Man do you even play a mesmer or hell even GW2. None of these changes will really impact a 1v1 or 2v1 situation. It was all WvW whinning on forums that got nerfs. What this did is make mesmers even more useless than a Guardian on sieges.

I can understand people not liking the lack of needing LOS on things like berserkers, but this also includes not being able to target things around doorways that your illusions can walk around. this also removes one of the very few unique functions we had in WvW, which is clearing crap from behind walls. LOS is also buggy enough anyway. go play a ranger and check out how many attacks miss due to LOS that you have a very direct line of sight on. the difference is, we have much longer cooldowns for illusions.

I’m really glad I switched to a warrior as my main, since they keep getting buffed and mesmers just keep on getting nerfed. Oh, and more PvP only nerfs for Guardian, but nope! Mesmers are OP in PvE! Must be nerfed across the board! It’s not like they’re the most useless PvE class or anything.

It’s absolutely ridiculous, but what can you do. Anet hates mesmers. Jump ship, warrior is tons of fun!

Mesmers’ motto should be “Anything I can do, absolutely anyone can do better”.

Recharge time not working. It seems to be more along the lines of 7-8 seconds and recharge time of attacks not gaining anything from Phantasmal Haste.

Also, the damage in the tooltip for Phantasmal Mage seems to be wrong. At 2k power it states 796 damage, with 243 damage on confusion tick. At 1800 power it states 400-500 damage on hit. But in game, its hitting for 243 damage on LA target dummies, the same amount of damage on medium Golems in the PVP lobby with a small change in damage from Heavy armor (234) to light armor(266).

Well I just messed around with the nerfs and Im heavily dissapointed.. My IZerker seems to be doing less damage than normal (600-1k Crit instead of 3-5k depending on crits). It also blows that the Zerker and any other phantasms for that matter can fail and start full CD while clones still pop on anything Invulnerable or dodging, have yet to try blinded but im sure its the same. I can understand the LoS although I did enjoy it and I think something that fragile wouldnt be so game breaking when it gets 2 shotted by a butter knife.

Time to start rethinking my build. To bad a Mesmer in the right hands can be amazing and so we’re penalized for it.

This is actually a very good suggestion and it doesn’t hurt the PvE party that consists up to max 5 players. It will also eliminate the portal bomb tactic and the culling issue in WvW by limiting the number of maximum portal uses to ~5 or 10 before the portal dissipates. Increasing the cool down doesn’t really solve the problem but only prolong the current relative issues that it has.

#2. As for the phantasms nerfs, I am too DEEPLY saddened by this change. I’m afraid Mesmers will bring little to no benefit in bringing suppression firepower when helping the team capturing a tower/keep/castle. Severe lack of decent AoE and slow maneuverability are two of our most significant weaknesses. Outside of WvW, we’re even going to have a harder time in making the “tag” count in comparison to Elementalists and Rangers who have access to skills like Fire Storm and Barrage. The nerfs on top of what this profession lacks the most – AoE is the least thing I’d expect to have happened. I have well over 1100 hours clocked on my Mesmers to know very well of our strengths and weaknesses. I have strong believes in Arena Net to make the right judgements and make changes in the most balanced way. After this patch, I’m not so certain if these changes are indeed balanced in helping what Mesmers lack the most – AoE. This change is a relative negative impact to the overall effectiveness of phantasm summoning skills in comparison to what other professions can bring to the table.

I’ve invested too much time in Mesmer that I do not want to repeat the same process of each progression again on a new profession. During the beta, I had my heart set on Mesmer because it’s the most interesting profession out of the typical warrior, caster, summoner, and rouge type of classes that I’ve played for many several years from other games and including GW1. If I had known Mesmer will be hated so much by the community along with thief being the #1 most controversial profession, I’d not have chose this path. “if you really hate MMOs, you should really check out Guild Wars 2”. This is the main reason why I really hate MMOs in general because of the constant nerfs and balanced changes from one’s perspective. By now I’ve really learned the lesson of not to buy any MMOs on release but rather at least 3-6 month later to save myself from a lot of griefing over the long excruciating process.

I’m kinda annoyed tbh. They need to fix the obstruction bug in WvW with NPC archers on walls at towers like Bluebriar, for instance. There is CLEARLY LoS but I continue to get obstructed with my autoattack and anything else besides Mind Stab. Berserker was the only thing that would work on them and now we don’t have that while the archers can continue to fire at me.

LoS is being able to see them, right? So surely my attacks should work on archers on the edge of the wall?

And this whole thing about blind and invulnerable enemies? Whenever people cry for nerfs because of what happened in PvP, they get what they want. Kinda disappointed.

No, when steps towards balancing are taken its fine, outright nerfs based on QQ to an already intricate class that meatheads cant counter are annoying. Furthermore, thinking this patch is a good thing means you either havent played a mesmer or got ROFLstomped by one.

No, But fixes overall would be a start.

I mean, Phantasmal Haste is STILL broken.

Lot’s of people , from all classes were expecting some major improvments, what they received across the board were stupid nerfs while leaving what actually had to be balanced , untouched.

Thats why its a bad patch. Moa Should have had a reduction on duration for PVP only, not a brand new fakking set of skills.

Portal should’ve been changed not to allow resources to be taken during uses. not a CD increase ( or recharge, wtv).

It was swing and miss with this update for mesmers, and for almost every other profession.

Warriors got combo’s added! Of all things needed to be tweaked in warriors, they actually escaped unharmed one of the biggest patches from Anet! Shocking!!!

Engineers have been wishing for Turrets to be tweaked since the start, even in beta, 0 work on turrets. (Gz you can now blow them underwater.).

Mesmer’s have been begging for massive AOE overhauls from the get go, we’re having trouble tagging multiple targets ( read, more than 5+), when in a medium-large group during events. We either go all out to get something, and end up in Cooldown, or we only do enough for some barely noticable Experience, and no loot.

Other classes press one button and theyre constantly aoeing without worrying. Im actually suprised chaos storm wasnt nerfed even more this time around!.

This was a great opportunity for Anet to show they care and they are working on balancing.

Screw new content, when most of the released stuff is still broken.

For god…. SINCE 2005 ! With GW1 Anet still didnt learn to make smart skill balance, instead they still totaly kill a skill, or make it OP…

I can understand why they changed the fantasm spawn because of the Wv3, but seriously, the ability to fire the berserker even if my char wasnt seeing the mob in pve was just pretty usefull…

Crap skill update as Anet as the secret since 2005….

I have a suggestion for Anet, delete the mesmer ? no ? tsss…

or totaly rework the mesmer to make it closer to what he is in GW1, like that no more clône and fantasme.

Preety sure those skills dont have an HP Bar associated with them, nor a travel distance at the speed of a slug nor do they prevent defensive measures to be activated.

All channeled abilities will have 1 tick of the channeled actually blinded.

These abilities DO go on cooldown when used while blinded.

These abilities DO go on cooldown when used while blinded.

I’m taking Hundred Blades as example, but keep in mind that I could have mentioned anything else, anyhow first, you won’t even need a target and second if you cast it while blinded you’ll lose in fact one thick out of 8. So, I don’t know really what YOU are talking about. Are we playing the same game, because i’m not sure.

Why is blind stopping us from channeling a phantom? i mean if anything i should just transfer blind to the first attack of our clone/phantasm to miss it’s first target.

Unkittening unbelievable. I’m demanding that all class if blind or if they attacking one invulnerable target get’s their skill under cooldown. Especially channeled skill and AoE type shouldn’t keep going on while under those effect.

Pretty sure that all professions abilities go on cooldown when they cast them while blinded, or a target is invuln.

This is true at least for Necro, Warrior, and Ranger.

Nope, you can spam all day long channled skill and AoE if blind or vs an invulnerable target. You’ll just lose the first hit. LOL! kitten this is it, i’m tired.

You seem to be complaining that something working as intended is not the way you think it should be working, if I gather correctly.

Channeled abilities lose one hit of the channel each time they are blinded, but nothing changes with the cooldown (the ability still goes on cooldown).
