I have played Mesmers since release and have always been a main-Mesmer – I was so hyped for Mirage but it ended up very… Lackluster

I was kinda hoping that it’d get more powerful clones and/or phantasms, it did (maybe) but very very minimal.

The idea and mechanics of Mirage were cool, I liked the Mirage Cloak and the idea of Ambush(es), shrug

Mirage’s Elite Skill, Jaunt, IS VERY VERY SAD. “Shadowstep” with SUCH A RIDICULOUSLY SHORT RANGE (400), it’s not even viable for mobility, has limited use, low damage, and isn’t as valuable as Chronomancer’s Gravity Well or Signet of Humility (Moa) (or even Mass Invisibility)

I have also tried other elite specializations (including all Elite Specs in HoT) Firebrand, Spellbreaker, Scourge, Holosmith, and Weaver; and I can say that these Specializations can outdo a Mirage in most (if not all) aspects, and as what nothelseth said in another topic, “Condi, power, tank; in all 3 of these archetypes you’re inferior to chrono in every signle way” — Additionally, these other Elite Specializations seem more fun to play with, Mirage feels like it didn’t receive much time in building the Elite Spec and it looks like they do not have a space in game because they can easily be outdone by everything else.

In line with Mirage, I thought we were getting a buff on Shatter Skills and Phantasms (and even damaging clones) and revolve around that but nope…
Also, Axe feels like Scepter – just a little more mobility.

Personally think that Mirage was pretty underwhelming and has little to no synergy to other skills/traits.

i liked what it was trying to do, I liked some of the damage my clones were putting out. I like the spamminess of some of the new skills. but all in all, the axe felt like we are forced to play a face roll warrior without the survivability and gap closers. we have evades and maybe some Mirage evasion and mirrors you have to actually run to and dodge here and there… but all in all.. that’s not enough, it doesn’t help in pvp/wvw situations. also especially as classes like thieves already dance around long to close range in no time and from my experience every couple of players is a deadeye kiting from long range. Mirage can’t reach the target and when it does its not like we can survive close up anyway without building traditionally, blinks, PU in my case, using the standard staff or sword, pistol, whatnot. the Mirage axe feels gimmicky. I’ve played power and condi, ive used all the weapons before and the axe is completely underwhelming. I can see if it’s possible to get used to the Mirage dodge and ambush attack for all clones, and see how to apply that but I don’t see a reason to use our new weapon the axe nor alot of those Mirage slot skills. the older builds were a lot more useful and effective?
