How could any mesmer idol list not include supcutie
To be honest I never really saw anything of supcutie. Don’t know why^^ Is he no longer active?
Osi made me wanna be a mesmer

Yeah he’s actively playing the game, not sure if he’s on a competitive team atm though. He’s the author of the most comprehensive shatter guide I’ve ever seen, posted on these forums a few months back:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Supcutie-s-Comprehensive-PvP-Shatter-Guide/first
Well… Sensotix taught me how to shatter I never thought a guide would be neccessary :P
Osicat is the number one skilled mesmer of all time… Just saying.

Not gonna lie, I’ve got to hand that title to Supcutie easily.

To each their own… Supcutie is mainly pvp Osicat is mainly wow.
Give that man a like.
There is a difference between peasants and kings. Lord Helseth is the best mesmer multiverse.
Give that man a like.
Oop, that’s true.
No matter what you say, Vashury is the undisputed king of dope burst.
Lest he call us all virgins, I offer up the name of Helseth, Lord of mesmers
^^^ or pieces of downstate, my favorite.
Lots of good mesmers out there, but the one that stands out for me is Seven Mirror.
Seven was easily the best solo/small man wvw roaming mesmer to play the game. Definitely in the running for best roamer ever. Seven was top notch in both theory crafting and gameplay. He led the mesmer roaming meta for a long time. On top of all that he was a great guy.
A real shame he left the game. Any wvw roamers should check out his YouTube videos, even if the builds are completely outdated.

As much as all names mentioned are hella skilled, I’d have to toss out two more:
Who knows, maybe (one of these days) someone’ll eventually mention me

Sanderinoa as the King of Pve-verse
I feel a song coming on…
:D
- Andromeda (forum name: Themanbat) – Formerly from our server, and one of the downright sickest 1vMany Phant-mesmers I’ve ever encountered.
I’ve been in Andro guild ( XOXO) for a long time. Him and Obsession were crazy mesmers.
Actualy, my two favorite mesmers are Vashury and Wing. But Osicat, Flimpy and Seven Mirror still hold a special place in my mesmer heart
As much as all names mentioned are hella skilled, I’d have to toss out two more:
- Flimpy – Considering I started as a pure Condi-mes, that man’s vids were a source of much inspiration

Did Andro stream or record any videos? I heard Seven talk about him before.
I am always going to be an Osicat fan. He taught me how to 6 person shatter, and I’ve always been a wvw fan.
After fighting seven mirrors multiple times I would say he is overrated. Andromeda was great. Skigit was fantastic he was the first person to show me 1v5 was possible when I started the game. Obsession and I held inner bay for ages against a zerg so he has a spot. Last but not least Wafflez for showing me how to blink stomp when I started.
sorry for the typos on my phone.

don’t think andro did, but I’m pretty sure he taught Seven how to mesmer.

^this
Andro did teach seven how to mesmer. Best mesmers i’ve seen by far on this game are Bamf Joe, Wafflez, Helseth, and supcutie. Helseth and Supcutue are tpvpers. Wafflez is retired. Bamf Joe still makes awesome outnumbered videos on youtube, you should check them out, (shatter mes).

Bamf Joe = Wafflez+Crazy Outfit
Wing is my favorite, only guy i saw that could do very legit fights outnumbered against good people.
I too won a 1v4 one time, but 2 of the 4 were upleveled and pretty noobish, way different then fighting 4 skilled players.
I vote for Dastion. In beta, he reported the issue that if a Thief used Blade Storm in the middle of a Feedback dome they could insta-kill the Mesmer who cast it. Since the daggers would reflect back to the thief and then be re-reflected at the Mesmer.
It WAS an extremely amusing combo though – right up there with Dark Path vs. Feedback.
Seriously though, I don’t play favorites. I’m glad for their to be so many prominent Mesmers out there who come up with unique builds. I’m looking forward to the 15th.
Guanglai Kangyi is my mesmer idol.
Funny how overly PvP centric this subforum is.
It’s pvp centric because that is where you really get to see the difference between good and bad mesmers. PvE is essentially Phantasm mesmer with reflects. So boring :/
(edited by PhDusk.2590)
The difference between good and bad mesmers is huge in PvE. Weapon choice, trait choice, utility choice, general tactics in combat, everything that’s relevant in PvP applies to PvE. The difference is, you can actually apply PvE knowledge in to PvP whereas people doing it the other way around normally ends badly.
I suppose I could always start recording pug mesmers if you don’t think PvE mesmering requires skill though, I’m getting used to people on the forum not being convinced without direct footage.
Osi made me wanna be a mesmer
yeah dont forget osicat in this. he made me use portal stomps!:-)
Give that man a like.
By chance, does anyone know what build he is using and the gear? This looks a lot like what I’m trying to do only with actual skill.
Zellqt is my mesmer idol, my knight who fights against virgin zoo neckbeards and condi AIDS. XD
I am honored! =] Thanks Me Games Ma.
Well, I look up to Supcutie (He took 3 hours of his time out to train me. The freakin’ man!) /Helseth (This Video inspired me to step my game up so hard) /Guanglai Kangyi (Guang is the man, taught me how to look at stats in a whole new way and plays BlazBlue.)
Oh and…
Fay – One of the first to defy the meta and the first female to utterly destroy me in a videogame =[
Pyro – Taught me to be confident in myself as long as I have the facts to back it up, and one of the coolest people you’ll ever meet once you step around all the jadedness and potential dooshbaggery (dat april fools)=P
Osicat – Pfft. Its Osi! ’Nuff said.
(edited by Chaos Archangel.5071)
Vashury, Helseth, ChaosArchangel, and Supcutie are the mesmers I’ve learned the most from. They all have definitely made me a better player for it.
My vote definitely goes to Osicat.
Back in the first year of launch, in May, I was duelling a 1vs2 with guildies. I thought I was some superior human being, or rather, a uber god. I thought I was one of the best around basically… But those guildies were a bunker ele (does no damage) and a warrior (were a complete joke back then). It took me a good 5 minutes straight to take thrm out… Then Osicat joined our duelling server.
I’d looked on the forum a few times , so I vaguely recognized his name… Then I asked if he is ‘that one cat from the forums’… But he was too busy utterly destroying my guildies in about a minute of time to notice me chatting.
“Oh… Am I interrupting?”
Fangirl mode activated!
We did end up duelling after alot of me being awkwardly excited, and I lost 3 out of 4 :P. I’m pretty sure he tried making up excuses when I won that one time, but I can’t remember what xD.
He used focus pulls, portals, amazing other things that i was unable to identify back then… And he blew my mind.
After a long talk his wve queue was ready, so I went to the forums to watch his videos… And felt inspiree to become a better Mesmer! Now I realize how much if a joke I actually was, and once I started wathing Osicat, I saw a maaaassssiiive improvement.
I still try to whisper him sometimes to thank him/invite for duels… I geta. Respond about every 2 months, but he always forgets who I am xD. I guess some relationships arent meant to last, or something :P.
Edit: that first day when I met him was actually on a Caturday. Coincedence? I think not. Osicat, if you’re reading this, you and I are soulmates. Will you mary me ?
Oh. It’s not 1st of april anymore?
/dissapointedly walks away.
The main person to ever get me into mesmer : Seven Mirror
First time I ever saw the dude in action , he made mesmers seem easy.
Osicat for shatter in my case.
Now for the list of people that hands down are on another level in terms of skill and play: (Also note, some of these i have met or played against so I can vouch) (except Osi and Wing, which I really respect their shatter vids)
Seven Mirror
Andromeda
Pryest of Lyssa
Osicat
Obsession
Bamf Joe
Wing
Not in any order, and im mainly wvw and roaming, dueling, so not from spvp or PvE if there is such a thing. So most of these guys are WvW oriented, and some sadly have left us, or retired, or gone Awol, or I havent seen them in a while.
I one day want to be as pro as these guys, 2500 hours on mesmer and hoping to reach high skill one day The Purple Army ftw!

Also number one rule for mesmer and thieves and any other class, have a good internet and good setup. I play on bad connection and lag a ton. I usually still outplay some, but on good days I can attribute my success to 20-30fps (if lucky), usually thats when i bust out the squishy builds, when fighting, take into consideration Opener , position, terrain and pressure, those dodges are vital and resets.
Osicat and Flimp got me into playing mesmer, but i think it’s best to work for being your own idol.
Guanglai Kangyi is my mesmer idol.

I was going to say that I learned how to PvE mesmer from hendo/colsey. I was camping staff + greatsword before I read his posts
I started playing my mesmer actively after seeing Osicat’s shatter cat video’s. Those were just the bomb. He’s a really great mesmer, although he often uses skills that can save his life at unnecessary moments, but it works for him!
I was in his guild this past summer and I remember dueling the first time again him as my, back then, recently nerfed ele. I thought I could handle a shatter mesmer quite decently.
Only, he wasn’t shatter, he just switched to the Blackwater build. I got schooled hard. I couldn’t find him anywhere and got melted by conditions. I used the build on my mesmer too, immensely strong.
However, on pure skills from what I’ve noticed, Vashury is better. He bursts harder, his actions are quicker and it’s more violent. Osicat’s playstayle is go with the flow, which is also great
Anyone of you guys know Doiid from the old RedGuard guild?
He is nr.1 imho
Special credit to Osi, main reason i play mesmer since the beginning, even if he doesnt play shatter sometimes (why Osi why >.<)
Flimp when he was a Shatter Mesmer. (this is like more than a year ago though lol)
Supcutie too
My mesmer idols are colesy and Sanderinoa
Special thanks to colesy. My enjoyment of this game has grown exponentially ever since I changed my build after reading his advice. I still suck at the game, but I am having way more fun and feeling more encouraged to improve myself. I admire the fact that up till this day, despite all the forum discouragement, he’s still trying to help people improve themselves in PVE. Thank you colesy! Your voice is indispensable to the community.

Cheers to both, absolutely. I forgot to mention Sandy in my post above— I have learned an incredible amount from him as well.
Well if I should name someone, it’d definitely be Sandy. He’s the one who made me change my main to mesmer for PvE! He also was kind of my mentor at first when I was practicing my Lupicus solo
(edited by Jeremlloyd.6837)
I love the mesmer community. I have improved my play soooo much just by reading these forums at work, and then going home to try out what I learned when I game at night. I think we have the most constructive community where the top players are willing to share their knowledge. There was a stretch for a few months where I played the elementalist. You look at their forums and you have people posting videos of their leet game play and then refusing to share their builds because they put the work into figuring it out and they somehow cling onto their knowledge as if they have something to lose by sharing it. The only exception would be daphoenix (not even sure if he plays anymore).
The people I’ve learned the most from:
Oscicat - hands down. I think to myself…hmm I want to do damage but still survive, or how can I get more mobility. I just simply go to his webpage and find something that works.
I used to learn a lot from seven mirrors, but he left the game
And I’ve always appreciated Pyroatheist’s constructive forum posts. I’ve learned a ton by reading the knowledge he shares.
And just recently I’ve discovered Allisahcat!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos and I strive to be a fun, skilled player like yourself.
Had to edit the post to add Supcutie :> This guy is not only extremely good but also very kind and helpful
He spend more than 2 hours of his precious time to make me better
