I’ve read about the new mechanics they want to add to the game and thought where they could be added to the mesmer:
An attack “that starts at your character and extends forward over time”. They can make AoE fields alter their size.
“This skill creates a directional wall in front of your character […] it follows your character!” Yay moving skills!
New Boon “Resistance” (Immunity to Conditiondamage)
New Condition “Slow” (Slow down cast time by X%)
New Status Effect “Taunt” (disables skills 2-0 and forces movement towards the enemy)

- Feedback
- make it follow it’s target
That could be fun. I also wondered how the new projectile-in-circle mechanic (Revenant) would work out if you placed a Feedback ontop.
New Boon “Resistance” (Immunity to Conditiondamage)
I do not feel that the access and uptime of Resistance should be too high. All of your examples will have a rather high uptime considering its effect. I’d say it is unlikely to be implemented in such a way. That aside, I generally don’t think that Mesmers are the class which should have a good access to this boon.
IF Resistance was added to Mesmers I’d rather see it happen in form of:
New Condition “Slow” (Slow down cast time by X%)
- Time Warp
- make it cause 1s of slow per tick
This is kind of a no brainer. Really hoping for it to happen.
Other places I can see it:
New Status Effect “Taunt” (disables skills 2-0 and forces movement towards the enemy)
- Confusing Images
- add 0.75s of taunt to its first hit
This would be fun but probably way too easy to use. Scepter already isn’t considered to require too skillful gameplay. If Confusing Images caused Taunt you’d just hit Sc#2, let your self being hit, hit Sc#3 and your opponent is either likely to die or has to blow both: Stunbreak and condition removal.
If Taunt was added to Scepter, maybe to #2.2 so you can’t get full Torment + Confusion while your target is taunted? Otherwise it’s just too efficient.
- Counter Blade
- change daze to taunt
Personally, I would hate it. I prefer the daze. I see the appeal for Scepter MH but for Sword MH not so much. There also are many daze related traits which would no longer work with Sword OH this way. I wouldn’t want this to happen.

Well, there goes OH sword. Onto the trash heap with it!
“New boons, conditions, and status effects have been added to the revenant as well as spread across other professions’ specializations”
This is important. I think we’ll see a few changes to particular skills (Time Warp for example), but not many others. Literally, I only see TW being changed as well as maybe Veil (slow). It would make sense to have MoD cause Taunt, but I don’t seem them making such a change. Resistance seems like something the Ranger specialization would get. And obviously, Slow will be the Chronomancer’s main condition!

It goes without saying that Time Warp should get slow in addition to quickness.
I like the ideas for Null Field and iMage.
Heh, there would be some major whining about Feedback with that.
CI – hell yes, put slow on there in place of the cripple, that would be great.

I got confused by that quote at first. The thing is: Our current classes already are a specialization. While existing classes might not be the most prominent place to add the new conditions/boons I’m carefully optimistic they won’t be exlcusive to the new speczialisations.
In the end it will probably be more about the effort it takes to rework existing skills rather than if it makes sense to do so. For example, Resistance could be an interesting way to make Rangers (not Druids) more group friendly through Nature Magic (Shouts). But this might require too much work to happen.
Not sure if current base professions will be considered Specializations.
If they are not then we will likely never see any of these new boons or conditions on any of them, they will be as stated, for the new specializations only.
I’m thinking…
And I am praying so hard that they don’t put Slow on Chaotic Interruption over Immobilize. Slow does NOT affect movement speed. I’d rather see it on Wastrel’s Punishment or Furious Interruption. Imagine Furious combined with Chaotic if it had slow!? 2/6/6/0/0 here I come.

You’re doing it wrong. Instead of telling them what you don’t want, tell them to replace Cripple on CI with Slow. I think we can agree that this would be pretty awesome.
Not sure how Slow would work with Wastrel’s Punishment or Furious Interruption. Personally, I don’t think it really fits there. If anything, Furious Interruption could cause Taunt.

Ah brilliant!
Wastrels I was thinking something like “Apply 2s of slow to an inactive target(5s icd).” Assuming ‘inactive’ means dazed, stunned, ECT. Furious I was thinking to apply the slow at the same time we gain quickness, but taunt makes more sense.
Man.. I cannot wait to see this new trait line!
I’m sorry guys, but CI is already an amazingly strong trait. They are NEVER going to buff it even though cripple makes 0 sense. I also don’t see them buffing Chaos Storm for similar reasons.
Still, my gut tells me these new buffs/debuffs will be mainly incorporated into the new specializations unless it’s an OBVIOUS fix to an old skill like Time Warp. There’s some interesting ideas here though.
Taunt doesn’t make sense on iDefender as that’s really OP to have an interrupt on such a low CD especially in this capacity. I don’t see us having access to taunt whatsoever unless it’s one of the new utilities. And let’s not forget this: we WILL be getting new utilities. They could be related to the specialization (new “chrono” category means we get 4 new ones?) or could simply be 1 each of a glamour/clone/manipulation/signet/mantra utility.
