Guild Wars 2

I started a Mesmer and I’m having lots of fun on it, but I kinda feel I’m not playing it properly. From what I played I like the idea of killing a enemy with condition damage and shattering. I’m trying to make a hybrid between these two kind of builds, but I only confused myself even more. My questions are:

1. Since I’m a PvE/Dungeon only kind of player, which build is “best”? Condition damage or shattering?
2. I don’t like much of greatsword, so is there a way to make scepter/staff (don’t ask me what off-hand, can’t decide) work on hybrid build i want?
3. Trait wise, I was thinking maxing out illusion and placing 20 on dominion. The other 20 should I place on chaos or duelist?
4. Equipmet stat wise, should I go condition damage + power + thoughness or condition damage + power + precision?

1. I have had the most success from a DD shatter build, dont really think codition damage is top for mesmer, more like necro…
2. Can’t really help there I use GS FTW, I’m sure there is a build in these forums for you but I think best is to try things out. Probably gunna have to sift through these forums and review all the builds for what you like.
3. Again not my style so can’t really help but do you want toughness (chaos) or precision (duelist)
4. Depends on your build and playstyle. I run power/prec/crit damage full glass cannon so my points are 30/30/0/0/10

GS and sword for power crit build. all other weapons for condition damage.

for a mainly pve/dungeon build, condition damage is weak, because you’re going to be running with 4 other people in dungeons and potentially more for DE’s, condition effects like bleed cap out at 25, so you’re going to lose some damage potential from that.

I started with Mesmer recently as well but a thread earlier with four part YouTube comprehensive guide to Mesmer rly helped. I always thought I would love running staff and sword sets and I love it after I learned how to use it with all the combos and such.

Staff has a ton if condition work with combos with chaos storm and tons Of clones that has winds of chaos which stacks things really fast . Not sure if it will be the most effective but it def fits my style more. I break in with sword sword , sword torch or sword focus depending on what I’m running w at the time and weave in and out of ranged and melee

For staff and torch and other stuff u have some really great offensive and defensive conditions and boon which also helps alot. Both in keeping ur clones and phantasms up and giving urself and allies protection and chaos armor and other neat things.

I’m still exploring but u can really work out a good condition power build. So far soloing swarms, vets three to five levels higher are manageable. I prefer the aoe from these sets of mine more than what gs can offer

Things can go down fast! But I’m no pro yet xD will learn more and perhaps be more useful later
