PU mesmer
PU is completely useless in yolo queue and tpvp because stealth decaps points. So have fun in 8v8 zergs
Not accurate. Properly played PU builds can be extremely strong in solo queue. See the guide in my signature for more details.
A lot of people hate PU especially yours full cond variety. But they always hate someone or something especially when loosing every fight. I’d say kitten them. Who cares what dead ppl thinking. If you comfortable to play it go with it. Overall a lot of idiots even among mesmers considering PU OP easy mode low skill cap play stile.
The reason why ppl think Pu is op is because it is very forgiving. the PU can make use of almost every utility giving it alot of diversity. just like alot of ppl think sig war is op but thats also because the build is forgiving. alot of the pu build relies on keeping clones up which can be maintained in many ways. if you miss a move or two as a pu mesmer oppsed to a lock down interrupt mesmer, the pu one is way mroe forgiving. PU is really strong but it isnt op imo ppl that know how to play usually put up a really good fight and dont complain or they end up winning because they are better.
General consensus among players is that it’s too passive of a play style to be considered “good”. I think PU builds require a good amount of timing, though not necessarily skillful play. Even though they’re very forgiving, blowing all of your stealth skills in a short period makes you very very vulnerable. Not to mention the fact that all of our stealth skills are on pretty hefty cooldowns.
I wouldn’t really say that a PU build has a low skill cap, in general, Mesmers need to be pretty kitten good, and the better you are the better you will do.
PU-Condi Spec’d (See Build link in sig) it is very passive, however, you have to time things very well, and if you can play it well, you will do very well (until people just run away)
While PU builds can be strong in sPvP I really wouldn’t recommend it due to the lack of ability to cap and hold points, which is what Soloq and Teamq is mostly about, as you rely on a lot of stealth.
There’s no way to argue that PU builds have anything but the lowest of required skill to play and be successful, especially the condition variety that EVERYONE uses. That’s why people would be messaging you “Lol PU mesmer”. It’s basically them calling you out for using a build that plays itself for you.
Not that I condone harassing people via messages because of it, but that’s the reason it’s happening.
Condition PU is very annoying to fight against, and that is why there is so much hatred for it on the internet. In reality though, condition PU mesmers can only kill stupid and very slow people. All someone has to do to survive a PU mesmer is walk away and/or cleanse the torment from the scepter block. Without the torment PU mesmer has very mediocre/bad damage, and obviously no way to chase anybody.
Also it is not very forgiving at all if you plan on ever killing anybody. If you want to kill somebody with a PU build you need to squeeze as much damage as possible out of nothing, and good luck doing that against good players.
I also wouldn’t say PU is useless for spvp. There are definitely better builds, but PU is no worse off than most thief builds and they can definitely contribute in some situations. Like distracting 2+ people somewhere while your team caps everything, decent support in teamfights, generally distracting and annoying the other team, chaos storm rezzing/stomping.

Its only passive if you play it passive I actually play a PU interupting shatter mes and it takes alot of skill timing, knowing enemy skill hints n stuff to get interrupts. i only use the pu part to flash stealth to gain some boons n stuff or to escape. PU is noob or new to gw2 friendly because it is forgiving just like warriors are but if you are skilled its even better if you combine pu with other builds/ skills
Not any other good GM traits so ofc PU is taken pretty consistently. What I don’t understand is how people call it cheese or OP’ed when all you have to do is keep the Mesmer on target or just simply run away given most mesmers don’t spec appropriately.
^ stealth removes target

A lot of PU mesmers run 3-4 invis skils. Decoy actually transfer target from mesmer to clone and all other invis skills remove target from mesmer.
You can run from fully cond PU mesmer with Staff Sc/T but it is not that easy to run away from power PU with GS Sw/P especially with Traveler/Centaur/Speed runes.
To answer the basic question posed, People view PU as OP and Cheese because of two major reasons.
1. It relies heavily upon stealth, which has 0 hard counters in game at this time.
2. Mesmers can summon Clones, Phants and have them do damage. This damage and summoning process does not De-stealth the Mesmer.
People tend to frown upon PU for similar reasons to frowning upon MM Necros or Spirit rangers. When in a battle with any of these builds, you are fighting off AI more than you are the actual player.
It’s not fun to fight against, and it’s not very fun to play (IMO) either.
And as stated above, its a poor choice for more hardcore sPvP matches as it is neither a bunker nor a decap centric build. Aka, it doesn’t hold points and it doesn’t cap points half or even 1/4th as well as other builds or other professions.

then why isnt phanta builds looked down on gs-x/p phantas full zerker while stealthed can jst kill u with phantas and no one complains about that. all AI and sitting in stealth. alot of mesmers damage can come from AI other then shatter/ glamour builds.

Becouse it is easier to kill zerk phat mesmer.
Compare 14k hp 2k armor on zerk phat to 26k hp 3k armor full dire cond PU:) with over 2k cond dmg.
Also PU usually have 2x or 3x invis uptime comparing to phat
BTW who told you no one complain about phats. I guarantee you can find alot of complains how big bad mesmer kill some poor noob with huge scary phantoms and need to be nerfed asap

Are people really that bad at this game to consistently get completely fooled by clones and phatasms???? I’m new to this game and even I realize which is fake.

This is not true. I’m not sure why you would think this.

Mistake happens.
Deleted my game 2 weeks ago. after over 1.5 year of playing. It become really time consuming lately with my WvW guild. Can’t play for 2-3 hours every day. Need to spend time in real life not in a fantasy. Now i can’t stop trolling forum:) It is kittening addiction.

I think trolling forums is the lowest someone can go. You deleted the game, so that you can just come on here and work people up? Productive.

Phantasm builds are griped constantly about and complained about. Especially of the PU variety. (PU doesn’t automatically mean conditions) go into a hot join or dueling server with a classic 20/20/30/0/0 PU phantasm build with GS and Sw/T. Pretty soon everyone will be calling you out for playing cheesy PU

I came here because i am missing the game. Talking and reading about it takes 10-15 min of my time and ease out craving to play . If you can’t take a joke shut the kitten up

Dude. Then play the game
If you do something that is easy and counters them, you are running a cheese build. When you do what a cheese build can do but in a way that requires more skill, if you die you’re a noob, but if you win it’s still a cheese build. If your build or play style enables you to counter a crucial part of their rotation or routine, you are running a cheese build. If they are running a cheese build, and you do it better or counter it, you are running a cheese build. If you burst and kite, you’re running a cheese build. If you tank all their hits, you’re running a cheese build. If you build to have the best of both, you are running a cheese build. If you use a cheese build, you are a noob. If you fail at using a cheese build, you are a noob. If you don’t use a cheese build and fail, you’re a noob. If no one identifies anything cheesy and you win, you’re a noob out of spite.
So, we all run cheese builds. We’re all noobs. We should instead be calling each other “bigger noob” or stating that the other “uses more cheese”.
Basically sums it up
If you can’t take a joke shut the kitten up
Lol. 2ez.

Many people in general don’t know how to use stealth correctly in yolo que or team que. Most stick to the old ideals and then get fixated on when it was finally shattered.
