Full rampager gear with rampager jewelry.

Staff/ Swordsword OR Staff/Swordpistol

Pick up the CD reduction tactics from the Toughness and Crit trees for Staff and Swords.
The Clone on dodge tactic and the tactics that boost mind wrack. I also like the 20% cd on manipulation for blink.

Mantra of resolve, Ether feast, Decoy, Blink. Mass invisibility ult.

This is a dueling open Wvw spec for solo or small team roaming.

I mostly hang out and duel thieves or enemy solo roamers in WvW.

WvW Builds

Offensive Feedback Fun:

30 / 15 /0 / 20 / 5

Majors:

Dom: empowered illusions, confusing enchantments, greatsword training
Duel: phantasmal fury
Insp: glamour mastery, warden’s feedback

glamours give confusion to anyone entering or exiting the field – this makes feedback especially fun. temporal curtain and warden reflect ranged attacks. 30 dom / 15 dueling means phantasms still do decent damage.

I usually run this build with rampagers with centaur runes. Survivability can be a bit low as you give up some escape skills for glamours and you don’t have fast clone generation.

Zerg Support

0 / 0 / 20 / 20 / 30

Majors

Chaos: Descent into Madness, Chaotic Dampening
Insp: Glamour Mastery, Warden’s Feedback
Ill: Master of Misdirection, Dazzling Glamours, Blinding Befuddlement

I run this is with a mix of Mortal karma armor and Carrion, with Superior runes of Lyssa

Feedback, Null Field, Portal, Mass Invis

This build can survive being focus fired for a decent amount of time. You give up quite a bit of up front damage with no Domination or Dueling traits – but Feedback, Null Field, and Portal cause blindness and confusion. Feedback, Temporal Curtain, and Warden, and Mirror (heal) have reflection. Then of course Chaos Storm is wonderful support. Mass Invis has a relatively short cooldown for an elite and with Superior Runes of Lyssa turns you and anyone near invis, gives you every buff, and removes all your conditions.

My current build, I used to run power instead of crit but this offers more versatility.

I often swap my Illusions traits depending on the situation my team needs in the dungeon. I use staff as primary weapon, create clones with dodges and shatter them. I can protect myself and my team with feedback, distortion and chaos storm.
I can spam some nice illusions with dodges and skills to blast them for dps.

Stinky Stink’s WvW Build:

I’ve been a gamer for a long (long) time and the #1 most important thing in PvP in an open world is speed and avoidance. You’ll never see a Thief without the 25% speed buff in WvW. Unless he’s just trying to die. If you can stay out of the fight until it’s on your terms you’re much more likely to win. Therefore:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgEQRAra7dlwzip3QzoGbNJhJFDv3nZAdpjWQJF4O3A;TYAqiMFJKyWkrIZRA

Once I got comfortable with it, I don’t think I’ve ever lost a 1v1. Not even vs. thieves who get the jump on me. My duelists do the vast majority of the dmg. My precision is through the roof and phantasms have fury and cause bleeding. I use scepter block and alternately blink and cloak as I run in circles and summon more pets. I use signet of illusions because pets tend to get popped pretty quick with AE’s flying and they are my major source of dmg.

In my swap weapon I have focus for speed and to occasionally knock ppl down. If a target stands still, I can use warden. Mostly vs. doors or in dungeons or in big group fights.

I found I need the +range on pistol because it also includes how far you can summon your duelist. And having him out is important. They have the buff that if I stand near him I get regen. And if I get regen I get protection. This is also good in a dungeon. 2 duelists and you have permanent protection and regen. I can tank some big stuff. I don’t stand still much in WvW but you will pass by your pets and pick up those buffs. Protection is a kitten good one.

Remove a condition on heal has helped me countless times.

The Lyssa runes are a seemingly odd choice. But every time I heal I remove a condition and gain a boon. The big thing, however, is you often find yourself in bad bad situations in WvW. We have one of the fastest recasting elites in the game. When I cast group invis, I gain every single buff (and double up on protection because of my tactics) and I go invis and I remove every condition. Hard to beat that. And we can do it every 90 seconds. It’s really hard to stop me at that point. Because I can recloak after it wears off and blink. It’s my get out of jail free card. If a fight is going bad I’ll do that and watch my target get shot up while I reposition. Or I’ll just run away.

I’m not saying I can take on 3v1 or anything crazy, but I can go anywhere and not be very worried. Only thieves can seem to keep up reliably and if it’s just one I’ll turn around and either kill him or make him run.

Here’s my Allround build: 20/0/20/25/5

It gives me a decent amount of power and reduced cooldown for gs and staff.
It also allows me to survive nearly any fight due to toughness and vitality.

Especially in WvW I win fights by wearing off my enemies. Pretty fun build with high survivability.

Hardcore PvP Build 2

hey i posted a build a little earlier and I tested it multiple times and was getting aggravated b.c it wasn’t working to my expectations so I did a little testing . Here are my opinions on some builds, I use to rock the sword/sword, scepter/pistol and it was alright, had mild cc and dmg out put but it was kind of hard to land your Main hand sword skill #2. Then i tried a condition dmg build with Staff/Scepter+Pistol, or something else, it varied. I really like the condition dmg build because it has good survivability, good AoE, just an all around good team battle build. Illusion elasticity (+1 bounce attack) is a necessary trait for any condition dmg build b.c it greatly increases your dps/condition stacking ability. The only problem I saw with a condition dmg build was that verse some enemies I simply couldn’t produce enough DPS and so I would just run away b.c I wouldnt die and my enemy wouldn’t die. I did a little research into builds and this is what I came up with as the optimal build

Optimal PvP Build
This Build uses the GS/Scepter+Sword
There is a little leniency in choosing your traits and utility skills but in general you’ll want to stick to the 20-20-0-10-20 regime. The way I use this build, I will open up with Scepter+Sword, I’ll call my sword phantasm out first, this one does lots of dmg, then depending on the enemy I’ll either use confusion ray or one of my 2 block skills. This build is good vs. thieves and warriors because you have 2 blocks and the trait that grants retaliation on block which is extremely beneficial. Next I’ll either do a couple scepter auto attacks until the cd on my sword phantasm is up, but if you do not want to wait that’s fine, just switch to your GS. Hopefully you’ll have one sword phantasm out by the time you switch to your GS so then you can do your #4 skill for another phantasm and #2 for more clones. Then I would advise doing some GS auto attacks. The procs from your weapon enchantment and trait where illusions have the chance to cause bleed, will allow you to stack bleed on your opponent for more DPS. Dont forget to shatter and use the appropriate shatter skill for each situation. The GS + cd reduction traits will make it so your GS has the highest clone production rate of any weapon. As for utility skills, I’ve been using blink, which is a good stun break and useful to escape a ganking situation. Also arcane thievery, I know that it is still bugged but it can still be useful, swap when you either have lots of conditions on you or if your opponent has lots of boons. As for the last utility skill, I’ve been mostly using the stun signet or the illusion signet, but you’re not a fan of either of those feel free to mix it up. the only problem i’ve seen with this build is that sometimes I do not have enough skills to escape a sticky situation since all i have is one blink as opposed to 2 with the condition dmg/staff build. This build will put out alot of dps which is good, hope you enjoy

This is a build that I just ended up with; I actually really like the flexibility it provides. It has made [most of] TA a joke for me, and it great fun when pushing against a zerg in W3.

I use my scepter/focus or staff about equally now, dependent on the situation. If I want a bit higher non-condition damage output, I bring out the former and can swap Temporal Enchanter for Malicious Sorcery. Then I latter for more defensive type or area effect engagements and change Phantasmal Haste to Illusionary Elasticity, since the staff will give me greater range to engage and Phase Retreat on a 5s cooldown.

The first thing I love about it is that it allows me to shut down most projectiles (exceptions include larger creatures with a mortar-like projectile). With Feedback lasting about 7s on a 32s cooldown, and Temporal Curtain lasting about 5s on a 20s cooldown, I can avoid most attacks in the first 15s. That works on PvE mobs that are not chasing something through the effect, and usually works in W3 in zerg type engagements; sometimes it works in smaller engagements, most people roll out of feedback so I’ve learned to roll into it myself. I’ve also found Temporal Curtain is more useful when escaping because any ranged snares and roots bounce off of it after I’ve gone through.

It also gives me plenty of avoidance tools. With Blink on a 20s cooldown and Phase Retreat on a 5s cooldown, I can escape large area effects if my endurance is too low to otherwise. If it’s a non-projectile based engagement I can toss in Illusionary Counter on a 10s cooldown as well if I’m quick about it. I need to work on my spacing of the abilities so that I get better all-around coverage between dodging, Blink, Phase Retreat and Illusionary Counter still. I get hit too much.

Using a condition damage build, doing my final tweaks, but at about 24-25k hp. My real weakness has been direct damage over conditions, but that’s in part thanks to my groups. Friends tend not to have weakness or protect, but plenty of cleansing and regeneration to help me mitigate damage when Null Field is down. Honestly I use Null Field more for ripping boons than cleansing conditions.

GS and Staff

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgUQJARWlwzaoXTzoGZNJiJF9GyhWAJFqWqVmBudhA;ToAg1CqosxYjwGrNObk2s8YUB

I use this for my PvP but I do use the same points used for my PvE build too. I change Illusionary Defense for Debilitating Dissipation in general PvE unless in dungeon, as the extra random condition is great and I don’t take as much damage. I use different utilities for PvE also, but change them around depending on the area/situations (Elites especially).

I actually call this my Martyr build, as I rely just as much on the clones getting destroyed through replacements or actual attack, than I do using shatters. Anyone near a clone when they go, get a stack on confusion per clone (and a random condition if using Debilitating Defense). With 40% less CD for getting illusions out and the dodge clone, there’s a lot of exploding clones around.

The reduced CD’s using GS Training and Chaotic Dampening are not only great for getting illusions out even faster, but it means less waiting to use all skills. Plus the extra power on the GS is nice and changing to staff with it’s extra toughness really helps to survive many crowded situations.

I hope no future changes cause me to lose this build as I love how when my clones are alive, they give bleeds but when killed, they give confusion. And I seem to have the right balance with the power, crit and condition damage to make it all count. I did use the Divinity runes but now prefer Dolyak now for the extra toughness in PvP.

Behold! A mesmer build that actually uses stealth! *GASP
The build itself is center around staff’s spamming of conditions and boons, and the supplements of the shatters.

Now, You might be asking, “Why blink, and veil? and traited?” The answer is actually simple. dropping aggro. My biggest problem has always been my clones not receiving aggro due to me having an overwhelming amount. the cloaks help circumvent this. another benefit is the ability to easily revive people, which surprised even me.

For the domination trait line, they are completely subjective to what you want? For dungeons, ripping boons off was more helpful than not, but it can be substituted at will. The only thing that is necessary is to have the 20 points in domination. why? because your worthless F3 shatter now stacks 25 vulnerability, that’s why!

As for armors and stuff. I used to run full Carrion with Monk, simply because the addition to damage and health was good. And then Apothecary came out.

Apothecary is THE Go-to set for this build. it has healing power, toughness and condition damage. the toughness is always welcomed, and more toughness adds to condition damage, a double bonus. But why healing power? With the large amount of toughness you have, your health isn’t as high as other builds. With almost no vitality and full apothecary, an uncloned ether fest pretty much gives you 3/4 of your hp back. All the more tankier. without sacrificing damage.

So yes, I quite possibly run the strangest build on these forums, but just because it doesn’t fit the standard glass cannons or bunkers doesn’t mean it’s ineffective!

This is a new build I am trying out currently. I call it the Brave Mage mesmer build lol, cause you have to be brave to play this build.

I have been using it in pvp and am still learning. any suggestions would be appreciated.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQJARWlwzKoHVzoGa9ICqHbX39dkUoapWJF42FC

Basically it’s a compromise between greatsword skill power, escapism using clones or fighting using shatter skills. My main concept is trying to build a mesmer around greatsword and staff, as these two weapons I simply love. This build is for punishing enemies thinking they can own you with using retaliation and reflection shatters so that they are hitting themselves, while also getting the most from your greatsword, phantasmal berserker and being able to create clones while you dodge for more illusion shatters or escaping. Make sure to use signet of illusions so that you can recharge your shatter skills faster.

In pvp fights i will (of course) try to stay ranged as long as i can letting my team go ahead of me. I put 20 into domination to mainly grab greatsword training, but also took the empowered illusions trait. I also put 20 into dueling for phantasmal fury and deceptive evasion. At ranged I will spam as many phantasmal berzerkers as I can but between these use the deceptive evasion to create clones while dodging. This gives me some illusions right at the start at ranged and can sit back and switch between gs and staff if I want using null field, chaos storm, and time warp aoe’s on the fight. I try and get chaos storm down from staff on fight and then switch to gs to get my phantasmal berserker in their so that it can collect random boons—I try to this as many times as possible within cooldown, and filling in with preferential clones. The dodge roll clones I also simply like for easy extra clones and escaping fights.

Watch the enemies and pay attention to enemies that start to come out at you, this goes the same for one on one duels. Switch immediately to targeting the enemy targeting you that is closest and make sure if you don’t have any illusions out that you try and dodge roll to create some—try to get as many out on top of any berserkers you can create. Switch to staff when in being attacked so you can use phase retreat or chaos armor if you have to. Now use your appropriate shatters using the traits below. Also remember to immediately after shattering, dodge roll some illusions if you can, and use your signet of illusions to get your shatter back up for a second use.

Now I put 30 into illusions for the shattering effects and signet of illusions so i could recharge them faster. I also really wanted illusionary persona trait so that I could shatter on myself for melee attacking, as melee is usually what ends up killing the mesmer. Take masterful reflection so that your illusions can shatter on ranged attacking you, granting you reflection. All of this takes great timing which is why i call it the brave mage because you will want them to hit you but shatter timing must be skilled. If a warrior charges me or any melee is about to own me I shatter on myself causing retaliation and wait a second while they hit themselves, I also try to wait and give time for any of my illusions that are far away to be able to shatter on enemy before I stop kiting from enemy and let them “hit” me. If you have a lot of phantasms out, try to get them to go through a chaos storm before they shatter. Make sure to dodge roll if you can before they get to you if your existing clones are too far away or dead. If it worked or didn’t work the first time, make sure to dodge roll kiting away from them, and use your signet to instantly recharge your retaliation shatter—all this of course while you are damaging them anyway you can. If a ranged is attacking you I would pop chaos armor with staff and try to get your chaos storm on them and then switch to greatsword. Use your reflection shatter and try to get them to do a lot of the work for you while taking advantage of dodging and your greatsword. If none of this works try to dodge roll, and whatever else to confuse and get away, often, but not always, someone will show up and kill them before they can kill you with their health signiciantly down and your heal skill just coming off of cooldown =)

Everything else I am still experementing with. thoughts? improvements?

There really is no ‘PvE’ Calculator setup yet is there? Just stand-alone spread sheets sigh Anyways

My Human Mesmer, Ligina of Twilight Avengers (TA) from Jade Quarry, uses the ‘Masquerade’ Rare, Crafted, Lv 80 Cloth ‘Set’. With a Full Valkyrie Prefix and Berserker Suffix. (That’s Ruby Orbs, none of those pesky runes) Berserkers Spineguard of The Berserker (Exquisite Ruby) & (Masterwork) Ruby Mithril Jewlery of the Berserker. Valkyrie Krait Crook of Earth & Valkyrie Krait Slayer of Earth (Rare Crafted Staff & Greatsword w/ Superior Sigils of Earth)

My STats @ 80 are (In LA)
1,880 Power
1,484 Precision
1,166 Toughness (-50 Toughness when using GS)
1,476 Vitality

2,864 Attack (1880/984/50)
31% Critical Chance (31/84)
1,981 Armor (1166/815)
20,682 Health (20682/250)

I Normally hang back, Make a Couple Normal Clones with Mirrior Image, Then use Phantasmal Warlock and cycle that in until I have a full set of three out beating out on the Target While auto attacking with Winds of Chaos, and Following up with Chaos Stom When Available.

—My Phantasms Hit/Crit anywhere from 3-9k,based off the number of conditions on the target, about every 2-3 seconds each (I think) once in full volley. I on the Other hand only hit from 400-1000 with My Staff in the same area.

—If I use My greatsword Its for a Quicker form of DPS, and generally AoE on Tougher mobs that need a faster response. I Really only use Spatial Surge and Phantasmal Berserker, Mind Stab if they need boons stripped, but other than that I normally don’t touch the other skills, unless I’m caught off guard.

—My Signet Usage is non existant, I don’t shatter, unless its the end of the fight and things are about to literally drop, and, i never get enough boons to feel the need to copy them to allies whom never seem to be nearby…

—Hounds of Balthazar is my Elite skill of choice, great CC/DPS for those, OH SNAP! situations, much better than mass Invisibility or other human Racials, and Moa is only so much fun until it gets annoying in PvE, or rather annoys others in PvE. (ZOMG STOP MOA"n The Boss!) meh…

P.S. – Sorry For all the text, I tried to fulfill the Request by the OP Mod…and got carried away :P

I didnt want to post prematurely but I think my build is ready. I wasnt sure before before today. Ive kind of been avoiding PVP up til now but after spending all morning being the top player of all the teams I was in, Im thinking its time to share.

I humbly submit my Bleed/Confuse Mesmer build: http://tinyurl.com/cpm28n7

The point of this build is to come on strong with confusion and bleeds.
All of my illusions cause crippling and confusion whenever they are killed so it serves as a constant source of CC. Since my I also have the Sharper Images trait which causes bleeding for every crit my illusions have. This is especially for my Illusionary Duelist since each of his shots count as a separate attack. I generally score about 5 stacks of bleeding for every time he unloads. The rest of my traits are pretty self-explanatory, though Im happy to answer any questions.

My weapon set is usually Staff/Scepter & Pistol. All of my weapons have Superior Sigils of Earth for 60% chance of bleeding on crits. I may change this for the staff. As of yesterday, I put my sword back into rotation. People seem to hate on the scepter a lot but I use it constantly for stacking confusion and adding conditions quickly with the help of the clones it makes. If you can inflict a lot of conditions and then throw down a Chaos Storm for even more conditions (and boons for you and anyone youre with inside the circle) and then pull out your Phantasmal Warlock the damage can be quite substantial. The warlock get plus 10% damage for each condition on the target. I wont sing the praises of the sword other than it can inflict a plenty of bleeding when you use Blurred Frenzy.

Chaos Storm, Feedback and Time Warp also cause confusion if you fire projectiles though them. They also cause confusion if an enemy enters or leaves the circle thanks to Confusing Enchantments. Added bonus: if used properly, chaos armor for you and all your friends!

Ill keep my the abilities short. Mostly, I just want to comment on Feedback. Ive noticed that most Mesmers never use this in PvP but I find it to be very useful. Against ranged attackers, certainly. But even more so as a combo field and to add confusion to anyone who runs through it. If its up, I always have a duelist up to unload into it.

I think thats about it. Questions? Comments?

Bligh.6985

Derped this up earlier hehe my bad^^;; but yeah my post:
Howdy everyone I’ve been playing and tweaking this build the last month or so and I think I’m ready(and confident enough) to share it.
So I’ve been playing mesmer since BWE1 and I love this class, but what kills me is compared to my ele or any other class really the support is all in the utility’s and tbh it feels more flash than actual support.. and I wanted a way around that.

My answer: the boomer why call it that? simple its all about a blast of boons! that and I’m as creative as a wet rag. I’ve tested it about everywhere and it works just about in anything wvw/spvp/pve and dungeons all you gotta do is make some minor tweaks.
Overall it shines brightest in WvW and dungeons(I’ve solo’d a fair bit of many a fractal as well when the parties all dead..up to lvl 13 anyway)

How it works is simple, it revolves around a few basic concepts: tanking with chaos armor on all the time, Signet of inspiration, and healing power.

Heal: I used mirror for this particular set up just because of the water runes, makes for a nice 1-2k heal for a group and reflect on certain bosses and players is just great, but ether feast is also fine just preference.

Utilities: I use a bit of variance with utilities as well but for the most part chaos armor is key so glamours are great with staff #2, this baby can just throw boons on you especially if your at the front of the zerg(which is quite easy to do) and makes it even better when you share those boons with more than half a zerg or everyone in your party.
Another option I’ve used is arcane thievery and iDefender for extra padding or to oh I dunno snatch 25 stacks of might for your party from a certain water boss). either way the traits are set so you can adjust as needed even in a dungeon.
the bread and butter: Signet of inspiration, whats there to say? when you got some steller boons on you pop that baby and share em, I personally look for retaliation regen and protection, but certain groups have needed more might so just depends the more the better though. its 600 range and I’ve yet to see the cap.

for traits again there is a good bit of variance you can make the only thing I will note is I have ran with shattered strength, its amazing but with it being nerfed I don’t want to get used to it. Chaotic transference is honestly where your dps is coming from lol.. and Phantasmal healing is great for quick regens on everyone then to re-share with Soi after you get a good 30+ secs.

Weapons: tbh staff staff staff… scepter and focus can be traded off for torch or even sword, its more of just to switch for might or a few more Illusions. scepter can be handy with its cloning and confusion but barely..

Overall this build does lack in the dps department but it still can do enough to duo a few. I spend a good chuck of my time running as well, with staff and trying to get positions to maximize a chaos armor or get that 1 or 2 more bits of might from the bouncing, but your party will notice you. Your taking the big hits and the boons can keep glass cannons from melting. Synergy and communication can make this build ridiculous, with proper use of combo fields my guild group can take 5-15 min of any dungeon run. You got almost 40%+ to your boons, make use of them! The builder is also a bit off, my healing and condi damg both sit just over 1k and I have 21k hp some other minor discrepancies.

Everything else I’m gonna assume you guys can put 2+2 together, I don’t frapps or anything so I got no proof but I invite you all to try this guy out^^ Thank you for reading hope you can enjoy^^

http://tinyurl.com/b5v3cg5

It’s mostly meant for WvWvW but with some minor tweaking can probably be converted to PvE pretty easily. I’ve had some success trying it out in WvWvW but haven’t played it that much (been reserving judgment until I have the gear to complement the build).

The basic idea is a healthy mix between survivability and damage. Staff is used for Chaos Armor and Chaos Storm, then switch to Sword/Pistol to bring out the damage. Get clones on the field ASAP. Decoy, Blink, and Mass Invis are useful for mobility and escaping. I think I have Signet of Inspiration on the build, but Portal can easily replace that (Portal bombs anyone?).

I’m looking for some constructive feedback so if anyone can provide some, that would be awesome. Thanks guys!

Ok I’m building up my mes. I mostly melee and range when needed. My current, preliminary build, as my mes is only lvl 26.

Sword / Pistol – Staff

Skills:
Mirror Images – Phantasmal Disenchanter – Sig of Illusions – Sig of Inspiration

Traits:
0 / 25 / 5 / 20 / 20

Dueling : Blade Training & Duelist’s Discipline
Inspiration: Persisting Images & Compounding Celerity
Illusions: Master of Misdirection & Phantasmal Haste

Overall this gives 20/20/20 on recharge for phantasms, so if one goes down I can bring back up fast. They all have boosted health, x220%. I choose ranged phantasms – 2x duelists & 1x disenchanter – this gives burst dmg & boon/condition removal. As for the 5 Chaos it gives me regen if I fall below 75% hp, this I’ve found comes in handy from time to time.

Again this is only a preliminary build, as she’s so low level I won’t know how well it performs for another week or so. But I’m always open to suggestions for any possible improvements more experienced mesmers may offer.

Dark Blue – This is my favorite weapon combo as well, and I have a similar play style. I’m about to craft a new set of gear, and am having trouble deciding what route to go. Could you tell me which armor and weapon sets you use? Knights? Valkyrie? Berserker? A combo? Thanks!!!

my ’’tanky’’ build, also works as a boon copier/spreader. i see getting boons and copying them to my team. works great for me, both feedback and signet of inspiration can be swapped out if they dont fit the boss/mob encounter, but those utilitys are the once i use the most. also like the regen my phantasms add to alies. hope you guys enjoy

edit: might wanna know that i use knights gear with ruby orbs, but can add emerald orbs if you want even higher armor stat. ring is ascended ’’berserker’’ once and also running ruby earings with emerald orbs

sPvP/WvW Build

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNAraWlwzKqHTTrGZNJipHEHyBcnPwcoFUSBudhA;TsAAzCpoay0koJbTumkNtqYswsCA

I designed this build around condition damage, using confusion as a counter/burst.

The basic rotation, basic stating this is the primary idea before exterior factors come into play, is as follows:

Always try to enter the fight with sceptor/pistol,
if they have a block/immune boon on open with an auto attack to wipe.

Then the rotation opens with #4(phantasmal duelist) then #5(Magic Bullet) then #3(confusing images).. #5 will stun your target so that you can get full duration on #3, aswell as having your duelist unload on them.

As soon as you have finished #3, swap to Staff.

  1. then #5(Chaos Storm) then #1 until you can wep swap again;

with this specc your CDs on offset weapons reset at about the same time as Wep Swap does

  1. and #4 with staff are very strong survivability utilities so i tend to keep my staff on for extended durations when i get in a bind.
If you are patient and keep cool though, basicly 1v3+ is the only way to kill you

The most important part of this specc is learning to anticipate your opponent so that you can stack confusion when they go to burst you; with the utility abilities you should have no problem getting out of it and watching them kill their self.

Right dudes, I have the “unkillable” build.
1. All gear Power/Toughness/Vitallity, (Rare Invader gear or Exotic).
2. Trait for longer range manipulations and quicker recharge on them, and also XII in Chaos.
3. Use Blink, Veil, Decoy, and Mass Invisability.
4. Make sure you are using a Focus and a Greatsword.

= How to play the build =
You can keep 5 or 10 man teams very busy being unable to kill you, since you are gaining additional boons each time you stealth, just run circles around them. Use focus #4 to give you swiftness then a couple seconds later use it to pull your enemies into it. Use Gsword #5 to keep the enemies away from you, whilst blinking if you get immobilized, (any other disables use Decoy). If they are rapidly catching up to you use Gsword #4 (without turning around) to cripple them for a bit, and use Gsword #3 to rip swiftnesses off them.
Good luck!

Signet of Inspiration can be swapped to Veil or anything else, but I love the signet.
If you don’t care about falling damage, it can be swapped for reduced damage per clone.

Knight’s armour, Cavalier’s jewellery, Berserker’s Weapons.
2k Toughness, over 40% crit chance and 60% crit damage.

I laugh at 2 backstab thiefs.

Conditions are a pain thought.

THE Mesmer Generalized Build

this is an all around build that has worked pretty solid for me in every situation i have put it through. be it pvp, pve, WvW, it has dominated in 1v1 confrontations, i have tanked champion mobs with this. though the downside is it CAN have some problems in bigger fights as it lacks large group sustain and aoe but i think the build works well enough to supplement your own utilities and secondary weapon depending on the situation. this build is meant to end fights fast and stay alive while doing it. i personally have been fond of using a Greatsword in lue of a staff when just messing around. even without the specing this build can still deal some great damage with it. i have even adventured into using dual swords with this and i have cleared group events solo in end game areas without downing. so feel free to give it a shot but so far it has yet to ever let me down and has saved me in many a situation. if you have any suggestions feel free to critique i am open to them.

Since I don’t see something like my Mez build I figured I’d post it.

http://bit.ly/X9zWEq (it had a semi colon, not sure if thats been fixed or not but...)

The above link shows the traits needed, runes used, skills chosen and my preferred weapon. (as an aside, the sigil on the greatsword is what I use since I happen to be poor, there are better ones to use. I’m sure you can figure it out )

Since that site didn’t let me say which type of armor and trinkets I use I’ll say it here, I use carrion armor and weapon with knight trinkets. Currently I’m trying to get apothecary armor since for this build I think it’d be better.

A quick rundown of how it works and what it does:

(legend: + = good thing, - = bad thing, * = either good or bad depending on who you are or the situation)

+heavy shatter based build that plays in an attrition style, good for soloing groups or pulling aggro while being able to survive

+each dodge in combat produces a clone (they target nearest enemy so it’s good for pulling aggro to you or for damaging more in a group than just your target, you are an attrition type build after all)

+the volume of clones acts as a good damage buffer if your shatters are on CD

+all clones regardless of cause of death explode, causing conditions on nearby foes

+if you shatter clones it always confuses the foe, if you use [Cry of Frustration] it causes 2 per clone shattered

+when clones crit they cause bleed on their target (with a 30+% crit chance and a greatsword this means on average once per attack)

+grants perma-vigor to player and near perma-vigor to nearby allies (shatters cause AoE vigor and your criticals cause vigor for you with a short CD)

+I’ve done test runs and used this build quite well with no modifications in PvE (both in dungeons and open world), WvW, and SPvP. It appears to be a good all purpose build

-if you stand still for too long, get rooted etc, it can be disastrous (this is mitigated by perma-vigor for frequent dodging, [Blink] for a quick move and stun break, and [Mirror Images] and [Decoy] for a stun break as well)

-if you are used to high damage or burst damage builds this can take a lot of getting used to

*this is a very active build, staying still is bad and there is a bit of micro-ing to deal with shattering the legions of clones

*the heal skill is [Ether Feast], it’s not the best heal unless yo have a clone out, sometimes you can be downed while waiting to make a clone to heal better, just be wary

*this build seems to be tightly integrated with it’s stats, traits, runes, skills, and even weapon type. Change a few of them and it can start to make you fail exceptionally.

This build is an attrition type build, it has relatively low damage output but is exceptional at outlasting large mobs of foes and bringing them down with condition damage

(I’d state my stats but I’m partway through my transition to apothecary armor and I’m not yet sure how well it works yet)

Hope some more out there can enjoy my build as much as I do!

(Questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome, hit me up in game. Name’s on the left)

Vulnerability to Chaos build
15 Domination (Power Lock/Counter Blade does 5-8 stacks of vuln, Shatter does Vuln)
0 Duelist
15 Chaos (Reduced damage with clones/fall, Protect when Regen)
20 Inspiration (Infinite Regen, Heal on Mantra recharge, Phantom Retal)
20 Illusions (Longer Confusion, Faster illusions, Shatter confusion)
Giver’s Sword of Peril/ Giver’s Torch
Giver’s Scepter/Giver’s Sword
Cleric’s Armor
Rune of Lyssa x 4 (Condition Duration + boon on heal)
Rune of Mad King x 2 (Condition Duration)
Mantra of Recovery/Pain/Distraction
Phantasmal Disenchanter
Time Warp(PvE)/Mass Invisibility(WvW)

Basically this build stacks vuln and a little bit of confusion while immobilizing and dazing a lot. At first I don’t seem to do a lot of damage, but then those vulns start to stack up and during my Blurred Frenzy or Confusing Images my opponent gets Power Locked(applying more vuln) and two hits from Mantra of Pain, a good spike that if they don’t heal or run their going to die soon and sometimes the heal kills them from the confusion.

Group combat with Sword/Torch is much faster and better then Greatsword or Staff, you can leap in, get vulns on, flurry, presitige, recharge mantras or cast mage, leap again, vuln, flurry ext. With Toughness, Healing and near infinite regen, protection every 15 seconds, healing when you recharge a mantra, you’re actually quite tanky and stuff dies. If you need to back off you can Presitige/Mass Invis, switch to scepter/sword, send your Swordsman in, Confusing Images, heal/recharge mantras(which heals more), counter a couple hits, switch back and leap back in.

It’s a complex and dizzying build but since it’s very different and unexpected I find it quite fun.

Hi. I would like to get some feedback on these 2 builds I am using:

Mesmer Berserker:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNAsdWlwzqqHVTmGaNJyZGM3yhWApCtWpH4GvdhA

This build is about power and crits. I use it mainly for soloing. I like it because it does large AoE damage.

Conditions/Shatter Build
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fgQQNAW7flwzaqHVzgGa9IiJFBHyh6x2ddZXJF42FC;TABAzypESJlSNlSKqmMNJay2krJZTrKGLc84VB

Really great for dungeons, WvW and i am thinking on trying this build for sPvP as well. I think it’s good for one-on-one battles (players and bosses). Scepter/Torch, in my opinion is one of the best ways of dealing large confusion spikes, sometimes hit 5k+. In additin torch stealth skill is great for getting out of combat in WvW and sPvP.

Feel free to reply, any feedback is welcome.

Tons of rolling and dazing for some quick clones and daze shatters. Heavily crit reliant obviously, but I have the greatsword there if I need to get people out of my face for a bit of a breather. Occasionally switch out Mimic for Null Field or Mantra of Concentration.

http://tinyurl.com/cvc57h3 – Healing Shatters.

This is for sPvP. The idea is to create and shatter illusions as much as possible, focusing mainly on Illusionary Retribution Trait and Phantasm Single hits for damage, along with multiple shatters for healing. The healing along with high toughness in this build will leave you to be able to take a ton of hits, while still throwing damage back.

Scepter 2 ; OH Sword 4 are great for creating Illusions and putting back some damage for counter attacks. The phants should also just be used as often as possible, and then shattered after a single hit in most situations.

With the Energy Sigil on each weapon, dodging for damage evasion/clone creation is paramount to this build. Swapping often to put Freeze down when you are attacked will also slow the damage enough to keep your hp high, switch as often as possible.

This build will be more about outlasting than ability to lay down burst, and is obviously more defensive.

Is my build as I’ve just reached 80. Basically shatter-oriented, but with a few tricks and a bit of variety vis a vis group vs. solo by switching a few Traits around.

Not really sure about gear. I’ve got Berserkers gear with Earth runes atm, as toughness is a good stat for me since it adds to condition damage, especially with Apprentice Tuning and Sigil of Domination.

I’ve given all the weapons a good shot, and they all have point and purpose, but my favourite to play with are Staff, Sword/Focus, and occasionally Greatsword instead of Staff, for soloing/exploration.

Very survivable good all-rounder, but dependent on good timing.

Here is an unorthodox condition build I made for mesmers. It focuses on bleeds, with some other side effects like confusion and cripple, it can reach the bleed cap of 25, and maintain 15 stacks. Unlike most builds, you don’t want to shatter for damage, you instead overwrite the clones which activates their on death traits. It has a strong offense and defense, so it’s well balanced. The build is also flexible, but it requires the traits listed, high crit rate (nothing lower than 45% with sigil of perception), mirror images, and sword/focus. Anything else is interchangeable, but the build I listed is what I had the most luck with.

I have yet to try this build in WvWvW, so I’m not sure if it will be effective there, but it can work in theory.

when im using builds i always try to think in layers 1, 2 and 3.
that means, im planning on using more than one set of traits depending which situation.

usually im starting with this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgEQNAW7dl0zypHVzmGaNJxpHRf5PHVBsTqgqLpA38G-e

10/20/0/30/10
i got stats around:
21000 hitpoints
3100 attackpower
45% crit (boostet with superior sigil of perception stacks to an average of over 60% up to maximum of 70%)
40% critdmg
1250 toughness
nothing special about it and still lots of substance left on top of it.

so if i want, or need i can use traits for sword, focus, pistol and scepter.
mostly using greatsword (i never regret sacrificing the 20point gs trait in any circumstances so far).
sometimes i switch to gs/staff and switching to more conditiondamage gear, but i still have to farm cond gear^^.
if needed i switch to mantra/shatterheal traits for some more healing for the group too building up illusions with dodges pretty fast.

but the main spec is of course for maintain phantasms and let em do their jobs (aoe, singletarget dmg, cripple, while suing all sorts of combofield mechanics).

i tried out phantasmal haste, but never saw the big advantage while sacrifing other stuff which makes the build far more versatile.
tbh except shatterbuilds using warlock, its another lousy trait and i even think that my new 30point trait for shatterhealing isnt worth being called a major 30 trait.
but at least its better than 5 points for personal regeneration in groups.

i was using scepter/torch but its too specialized weaponset for me atm. fun thou but i need a second full special set for staff scepter/torch combo and even then im not sure if its viable with phantasmbuilds like that.

so far its fun to play with a wide range of weapon/trait/utility settings.
gearwise i am stil lable to sacrifice def stats a lot to go glasscannon, which i dont like, to more bunker-style stats. my actual stuff would let we go from 18k hp with lots more power and crit to almost 25k hp and 1500 toughness and still doin “enough” damage.

Boon Share Confusion Mesmer

Aim
There really was none; I came up with the build after I noticed Prismatic Understanding had been buffed a while ago and since then, other traits and weapons involved were also buffed. I generally use this as a troll build in PvP hotjoins due to the sheer amount of stealth involved.

Traits
20 Domination: Signet Mastery (VI) and Cleansing Conflagration (IX).
30 Chaos: Debilitating Dissipation (V) (or optionally, Illusionary Defense (IV)), Chaotic Dampening (X) and Prismatic Understanding (XII).
20 Illusions: Master of Misdirection (V) and Blinding Befuddlement (IX).

Gear
Armour: 6 x Rune of Lyssa, Carrion Amulet with Carrion Jewel (or optionally Rabid Amulet with Rabid Jewel).
Weapons: Scepter/Torch with Sigil of Battle and Sigil of Corruption and Staff with Sigil of Battle

Skills
Shatters remain unchanged albeit with a 20% reduced recharge

Scepter auto-attack chain: Probably no where near the best chain in the game and I doubt anyone would run scepter to spam clones viably.
Illusionary Counter: Hits for decent damage if it actually lands (which is rarely ever in my case), but is more useful for the 2s block and now counter spell can apply a stack of confusion (Blinding Befuddlement). Reduced recharge to roughly 10s.
Confusing Images: The bread and butter of damage output. Generally a hard to land beam due to the wind up, chance of obstruction or just general block or dodge roll from other players, however with a complete connection you only have to worry about condition cleanse .
The Prestige: Definitely one of my favourite skills after the removal of channelling buff. Last 4s and will apply two random boons of either regeneration, protection or aegis (Prismatic Understanding) (one at the start and end of using the skill), also removes a condition (Cleansing Conflagration. Reduced recharge to 24s.
Phantasmal Mage: Phantasm, what more you need to know. Does remove a condition on summon now though (Cleansing Conflagration). Reduced recharge to 18s.

Staff Skills: I’m going to be lazy and lump this altogether as staves are common enough in Mesmer usage and aren’t hugely affected by the traits in this build. Phase Retreat recharges reduced to 6s. Phantasmal Warlock recharge reduced to roughly 13s, Chaos Armor recharge reduced to 28s with blinds now being able to cause a 4s confusion (Blinding Befuddlement). Chaos Storm recharge reduced to 28s.

Heal Skill:
Mirror: A reliant, decent heal with relatively lower recharge which allows it to proc. the Rune of Lyssa’s buff of providing a random boon on using a skill (active every 10s). Optionally, Ether Fest due to the unreliable, large heal which doesn’t proc. the rune set as much.

Utility Skills
Decoy: Always a useful stun breaker without investment. Benefits from Prismatic Understanding. Cloak lasts 4s. Reduced recharge to 32s.
Signet of Midnight: Passive increase in boon duration by 10%. Active provides a stun break than now can cause the 4s confusion to the AoE blind. Reduced recharge to 28s.
Signet of Inspiration: Passive benefit applies a random boon every 10s. Active effect has great synergy with the Rune of Lyssa set as it can spread all the boons received on activating an elite skill to allies in a 600 radius. Reduced recharge to 36s.

Elite Skill
Mass Invisibility: Big shocker at this point I know. Has the lowest recharge of all Mesmer specific elite skills and benefits from prismatic understanding. This combined with the Rune of Lyssa set and activating Signet of Inspiration means you can effectively share all your boons to allies in 600 radius.

Conclusion
Boon share is a template that allows for large amounts of party support in the form of boons. It also has viabilities in terms of solo play due to the sheer amount of stealths involved in the build and the passive buffs employed. Most of the skills outlined perform in a manner that has great synergy with one another and almost demand a very strict trait set up. Obvious weaknesses towards the build are frequent stacking of conditions or removal of boons through actions of either stealing, removing or corrupting. The Carrion set-up also makes the Mesmer relatively squishy in relative terms to a Rabid set-up, however Carrion affects both the general damage output as well as the confusion and retaliation output.

For dungeons i run: 0/20/0/20/30 with sword/focus, greatsword. Its a variation on the “Shattercat” by Osicat, specced for support. Damage comes from shatters and your own attacks, recommended to be ran with full berserker, as its simply the best option for dungeons and high level fractals (dont think that needs explaining). The support mostly comes from reflections.

In WvW roaming i run: 0/20/20/0/30, another variation on the Shattercat, but specced for mobility. For weapons i use sword/sword or focus and a staff. I mix berserker/knight’s/ power/critdmg/toughness (not sure what that combination is called). I like having 90+ crit damage, 1800ish power, 50% crit chance, 2400armor, as low as possible vit.
In my signature is/are video(s) of my wvw build in action
Edit: in the support spec I use ether feast/mirror/blink/decoy/feedback/nullfield/mirror images/illusion of life/signet of inspiration/time warp/mass invisibility in that order of common-ness.
In the mobility spec i use ether feast/mirror, decoy/blink/mirror images or portal

I run a phantasm build with zerker gear/weapons. I had my mesmer to level 80 before the end of the year and went with a full shatter/high conditions (1250-1450 w/ buffs/boons) staff mesmer to get a feel for the class; applying multiple conditions, party support, etc. Certainly more damage mitigation and evasion, however it’s less effective (typically) in group events and dungeons, especially if there’s another condition class in the party.

DPS or burst damage usually wins out in PvE scenarios. I currently use the following:

10/30/0/25/5
Domination: (III) Empowered Illusions
Dueling: (II) Phantasmal Fury, (V) Desperate Decoy, (X) Deceptive Evasion
Inspiration: (II) Glamour Mastery or (III) Vigorous Revelation, (V) Persisting Images
Illusions: the Minor Trait Illusionists Celerity (a must have imo)

Wielding GS:
attack: 3279
cc/cd: 56/107% (before buffs/boons)

Wielding scepter/focus:
attack: 3121
cc/cd: 61%/108% (before buffs/boons)

Armor: 1836
Vitality: 17,582

1. Zerker gear w/ ruby orbs (6x).
2. Zerker Accessories (2x), Crystalline Bands (2x), Mark of the Tethyos Houses (amulet)Mighty Infusion, Quiver of Swift Flight infused (back piece)Mighty Infusion. ***All equipment is Pwr/Pre/Crit Dmg.

Main line of utilities:
Healing: Ether Feast (typically-for additional health) or Mirror (situational)
Skills #7, #8 & #9: Mirror Images, Blink or Null Field, Feedback (typically)
*Substituting w/ Arcane Thievery & Decoy (especially in WvW or heavy cond’s) and
of course Portal Entre for CoF, jp’s, etc. (specific uses).
Elite: Time Warp
*
Moa Morph for WvW when you really want to mess w/ someone. Mass Inv. for specific cases and dungeons.

I rarely have trouble in dungeons or general PvE — works well in WvW since it confuses some players to attack one of my clones instead of me which gives me time to immobilize, cripple or simply evade attacks and add damage while I kill them.

If you swap out for the trait providing more Vigor, it’s a great way to supply endurance to yourself and your party/team.

Feedback welcome. /thanks

I figure it’s about time I post up my current and favourite build so far.

The Incredible Phantasmally Supportive Zerker

This particular build is orientated towards high-level fractals and dungeons rather than WvW or PvP, my aim in it is to bring a decent amount of support to keep the team standing and ticking over at maximum efficiency without skimping on personal DPS (Because, as any veteran dungeoneer should realise, the faster you kill the enemy, the less likely you are to die, support is no excuse to cut back and leave DPS in the hands of your allies.)

Gear
Mixture of knights, cavalier and primarily zerkers keeps toughness at a reasonable level (combined with high hitpoints from inspiration) to provide a minimally safe level of survivability while maximising your damage output.

A perception sigil on your focus offhand lets you stack perception to get your crit chance way up, combined with fury on phantasms this means phanties will be critting practically every hit once you get the ball rolling.

Traits
Both phantasm DPS bonuses are included – despite the apparent lack of shatter bonuses you should still make use of shatters, especially during AoE pulls or if you know a boss is capable of doing big smashes as in these cases it’s unlikely your phantasms will live to attack a second time.

Support comes in the form of

  • Healing from phantasms to adjacent allies
  • Spammable AoE heal for 2,880 a pop via mantra charging
  • 3 reflects on short cooldowns.
  • Time warp
  • Boon sharing

Usage
The first thing to cover is your AoE heal. The mantra heal is powerful, and since you get to fire off the mantra afterwards your DPS isn’t a bust; but using it WILL decrease your overall DPS, you are NOT a dedicated healer – the optimum time to use it is when your heavy hitters are already on cooldown and you’re just spamming your basic attack. If allies near you look like they could use a top-up, edge your way over to them while casting the mantra and give them a pep. You should not be spamming the heck out of it to try keep your team fully healed, or casting it to the dertiment of casting your own heavy hitters except in exceptional circumstances

Next up is boon sharing, you might notice this build doesn’t actually have a lot of boons itself, what you want to do be doing is looking for members of your team who does – the guardian, the warrior’s banners etc. Keep in range of your boon-spamming buddy, and when you get a decent amount on your, use signet of inspiration to mirror them onto the rest of the team; with a good warrior it’s easy to get everyone’s might stacks up to 25 like this (An ideal time to drop timewarp and send party DPS to stratospheric heights!)

Reflects are a no brainer, but people arn’t always familiar with mesmer mechanics; in a fight where reflects are important, let them know that “standing in or behind the pink marks on the ground are really really good for their survival”.

Other than that standard mesmer strategy applies; use leap to root targets when you set up warden so they can’t easily escape it, make good use of sword 1 and GS1 when everything else is on cooldown (they actually do reasonable damage with this configuration (~2-3k damage)), use deceptive evasion to create clones to get that +9% damage modifier, shatter your clones if you can pop 3 more back up immediately and mind wrack is off CD etc…

…and don’t forget to swap weapons frequently to make use of both sets of phantasms. your playstyle should be that of a skirmisher, jumping into the fight to dish out massive AoE burst, then hopping back out before the inevitable counterattack

I’m mainly trying to go for a solo PvE sort of build and this seems like a good way to go. I’m also wanting to use a sword/pistol + great sword

I’m basically just going for a jack of trades sort of build. a little bit of phantasm, a little bit of condition, and the sceptre/focus concept was mainly for like defensive sort of buffs….any help making this better would be awesome lol.

and im human so from what I have read i was going to put HoB as my elite or TW.both seem equally useful to me

My condition build The Clone Spammer

A bit of background story
I’ve been playing around with the scepter post 25/6 patch. It is an established fact that scepter is now our condition weapon. I was annoyed by the fact that with Deceptive Evasion + Scepter’s autoattack, I keep replacing clones so quickly that they don’t stay long enough to do anything.

But then I hit me that we have 3 traits that make clones do something when they get replaced. I connected all the dots and came up with this build. This is just my theorycrafted build, I don’t have the rabid gear to try it out yet.

So if anyone’s interested, please try it out and give me feedbacks on how effective it is and what pros/cons it has. It looks very good on paper for me, everything just synergizes so well.

So here’s the link:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgEQNAraWlwzKq3UzgGaNJipCBHaGXX1RqQpVmBudhA-jwyA4MioRqCINCIFG1c4QGriRt+OkRNEmKdR16YAPCjWtQAnWDA-e

The build is based on the idea that you keep creating clones and get your opponent to get trapped in the AoE clone death explosion cycle to inflict conditions while you yourself also put on tons of conditions on them. If they kill your clones, they get punished. If they don’t, you still actively kill your clones (no shattering here) while keep pressuring to get the same effects.
With this build the recent nerf to clone’s health in PvP is suddenly a buff

Stats:
Main stats: Condition damage, precision enough to get 40-ish% crit chance.
As with any condition build, you can get very tanky with 18k health and 2,3k armor and the longer the fight, the more favourable it is to you.

Weapon:
Scepter + Pistol as main weapon set / switch to Staff to go back to the conventional condition build or for defensive utilities.

Gear:
I’d run with full Rabid on weapons and trinkets, mix some Carrion in armor to improve health if necessary.

Sigils:
I’d use on-crit sigils, especially Rage to get quickness to produce more clones; and Sigil of Earth to get more bleeds. I would also consider Sigil of Hobbling to increase Crippling duration, I explain why later in the playstyle section.

Runes:
2x Lyssa, 4x Nightmare: for extra condition damage and precision, but the key thing here is +20% condition duration in total.

Slot skills:
Ether Feast; Decoy, Mirror Images for clone production (obvious choices); and since we run out of clone-generation skills, Signet of Domination is the best candicate for the last slot.

Elite skill:
Time Warp: you can’t go wrong with Quickness buff.

Food buffs:
I see 3 things to buff here: Condition Damage, Precision, and Condition Duration.

Traits: 10/25/10/0/25
Crippling Dissipation (Dom V), Confusing Combatants (Duel 25), and Debilitating Dissipation (Chaos V) are obvious choices here since they are the foundation of this build.

Deceptive Evasion for more clone generation. I could go with Desperate Decoy (Duel V) as well to get an extra clone but that’s too defensive, so I settle with Duel II.

As for the rest, Illusions V and IX make confusion more powerful.

Playstyle:
Always start the fight with your well-timed block as the enemy recklessly charges their first attack to burst you down meaning they now have Torment. Now with 1,7k condition damage you have, they will hesitate to move and this is when the fun begins. Start spamming clones with Scepter #1 to get their mobility severely hindered.

Positioning your clones is the key here and Crippling assists you with it. I now realise that clones produced near your enemy with Scepter #1 is such a good thing.

I can see this build requires a lot of kiting. But a careless opponent might get perma- crippled and might just blow all condition removal just to catch up with you in battle.
Even better, you have extra ways to lock down your foe in one place with Pistol #5 and Signet of Domination.

So that’s all I have for your guys.
Any thoughts and feedbacks are much appreciated.
Please discuss. Thanks

PS: I can see how Scepter #1 produces 2 clones makes this build OP, but that bug will be fixed soon. So enjoy it as much while you still can.

Here’s a build I just made and started using lately, not sure if its been done before, probably has! But i’ve been wvw-ing a lot and this focuses on roaming and versatile survivability but still maintains high sustained damage. definitely doesn’t focus on synergizing damage, the damage is just there to down targets when possible.

Prismatic Mirage 1.0 : Phantasmal Defense

http://tiny.cc/prismames

Centered around defense, moving in and out of danger and mitigating damage, proccing boons and using lots of stealth at the right times for survivability, while delivering steady and significant kiting dps at a distance, with phantasms, and shatter when necessary, for example, to indicate stealthed targets or distortion or finishing near-dead enemy

Notes

Slot Skill 1:
Mimic / Veil / Null Field are interchangeable
(if no glamor switch out glamor trait for phantasm life or whatever)

Heal Skill:
I enjoy using ‘Mirror’ (perm swiftness on centaur runes, quick CD, reflect projectiles – just remember to heal earlier)

Weapons:
Staff + Sword/* (Focus, trait for focus reflect or Torch for extra stealth) also good

For all our defensive “invuln” ish stuff, we have:
Mimic (4+ s block all attacks), Stealth + boons, Chaos Armor + combo, Chaos Storm, distortion shatters, (optional: blurred frenzy if running sword, focus reflects and Mirror heal reflect)

gimping support phantasm-mesmer build

if i will touch my mesmer again, i am gimping myself with this build

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgEQNArfWlwzipXUTrGbNJxZGRf5oKgdSFUdZG4m3A-jkyAINBRaBIhBgKBlDLiGb1sIasaGMNqQqOOyOkhsKFAErBA-w

guess its still the most versatile sort of build, cos u can use all sorts of weapon-sets+ glamour + phantasm boosts.
of course gs/staff is even more of good ol gimping without cd reduction traits, but if u ask me mesmer traiting is all about gimping yourself unless u play shatterstyle…

edit: tried it for a short while last night in orr. was a bit frustrating, cos i wasnt used to the weapon combi: sw/foc and sc/torch. maybe better to switch the offhands like in rossbiddles poisonapple build. yet my equip is not optimal for this condition/phantasm build, but tbh i have no clue where to go with the equipment.

one thing i experienced was, that i ate a lot of damage despite a decent amount of toughness and all the def skills on the weapons. was there any change of incoming damagenumbers since last patch?
