Hello, I’m going to try a new class: Mesmer but I read a topic called “Mesmer’s Bugged Skills: Still Piling Up…”

Is this class playable? Or should I wait until they fix the skills?

The only bug which really affects you in PvE is the warden-not-spinning and temporal-curtain-not reflecting. So long as you know where and when that will happen (you learn it fairly quickly), it’s not a huge deal and you can plan around it.

Some of the other bugs are a lot more annoying in PvP and WvW, though.

well playable it is, but it depends on what u wanna go for…
wvw raids, wvw roaming, spvp, tpvp or pve?

The class is definitely playable.
And there are people who have a lot of fun with it.
Even in its current state a mesmer is a nice addition to a group, PvE, PvP, WvW.
But… personally (and I’m not alone with this) I lost the fun I had with my Mesmer since the feature patch. Constant retraiting in dungeons to be useful, praying everytime you spawn a Warden, attempt to blink, press sword 3, or do something like that… I don’t have fun with that.

So, as I said, the class is playable and can be fun. But not for everyone and if you want to play competitively (or whatever you want to call it) you might be better off with another class like ele/warrior/guard as they are useful and fun in most aspects of the game and receive more love from the devs.

So long as you learn the current bugs and how best to avoid them, you should be fine. I find mesmers to be extremely enjoyable, so long as you know that your damage comes from those phantoms and you have to keep an eye on what is currently out so you aren’t overwritting a phantom with a clone.

Run while you still can.

well, if u like wvw raids, large scale pve content,tpvp….dont go with mes. the bugs, the countless nerfs, the ai only are your big problems here. we lack aoe and group builds.
bad tagging in wvw, u are a veil/tw/portalbot
if u like dungeons and regular pve mes is pretty decent.
roaming and hotjoin mes is doing decent too…

my feeling atm though is more like Eucalyptus said….run while u still can, as anet failed to fix bugs, introduces more bugs, tries to sell bugs as buffs, fails to see mes problems,breaks something every single patch and keeps nerfing mes to the ground because all they see is the 1v1 dueling mes in spvp hotjoin.

Just fought Subject 7 and 3 iWardens in a row failed to go off.

I want my gauntlet ticket back Anet, I don’t expect you to fix warden because that would require you to care but I demand to be reimbursed the ticket.

Despite the angst-filled rant (which is somewhat true, actually) Mesmer is actually still playable, useful, and fun to use. The bugs do suck, but the most noteable one is the glitched Focus.

Nonetheless you can still play Mesmer without feeling like you’re only rolling half-a-class. Annddd yes you can use Mesmer in PvP just fine.
