Q:
Runes of ranger mesmers
A:
Just tested it. It has no effect with either clones or phantasms.
Normally I would think no, but if ya follow the link look at the notes down at the bottom. It says “The damage bonus for six superior runes applies for any summoned pet, such as Glyph of Elementals or Sigil of Demon Summoning.” which I would consider a elemental pet the same as a illusion. Reason being they only last for a short time just like mesmer clones only last until mob is killed or shattered.
Do yourself a favour and test this in sPvP on the dummies before you spend any money.
Yea I’m not to sure how to test it out. I would have already done so. anyhow the runes are free off my ranger lol so wont cost me anything. Rangers are pointless so i got no prob taking them. Im not sure how you can tell if you get a 10% dmg increase or not would it be in your attributes or have to do a average of dmg done?
Easily done. Just equip a steady mainhand weapon in the mists. Get those runes, and take off all your traits. Hit the dummy. Summon a clone, hit it again. Done.
No. Illusions are illusions, not companions. Both are counted as allies.

so wouldnt elementals be elementals then? but they work as companions
Companions refer specifically to ranger pets according to the Rune’s wiki.

but again if you read wiki notes it seems that elementals work as well.
“any summoned pet” can easily means that it works with mesmer illusions, we just need someone to test it, im lazy.
You could just test and find out instead of debating what the wiki says.

The way I understand companions, is an NPC who follows you around. I.e. someone whom accompany you. Illusions only ever follow a single foe, and die as soon as that foe is out of reach, or is defeated. If your illusions aren’t destroyed, they will just stand still regardless of where you go.

Unfortunatly i cant test it im at work for another 8hrs or so lol was a idea i had on my way up here. Just figured someone might have tested it previously is all. Ill test it when i get home.
Tested it as proposed (steady weapon, no trait), it works with clones.
Edit : in fact, it doesn’t. My test sample was just too small

i already use this set on my mesmer. love the precision with the +% dmg on my berserker geared GS/sword/focus.
I feel like you’d get more damage with orbs (ruby or valk).
In PvE, might be, but in sPvP it comes in handy.
Edit : nevermind, it doesn’t work. Dunno how I managed to make myself believe it does, I can’t reproduce my own observations…
Edited my first post accordingly.

Thats too bad. I had planned on doing this, as I had read somewhere that this did work. Maybe it was in a beta and got fixed. I might go with the Pack now instead. You will definitely get bigger crits with orbs, but you can get more stats from rune combos, up to you.
Has anyone tested it with Our elite skill summon druid?
