Heya!

Talking about the functionality of Echo of Memory and Deja Vu with Continuum Split.

Since the last patch, Echo of Memory’s cooldown starts again after the cast of Deja Vu. This means the functionality of this skill with Continuum Split has changed.

I heard quite a lot of Chronos telling me how “buggy” or strange it is, to use Continuum Split combined with Echo of Memory. So I unleashed my AWESOME PAINT SKILLS to illustrate how this whole thing works now.

pic 1:

  • If you channel Echo of Memory and do not block anything while entering Continuum Split, leaving it later will cause Echo of Memory to be off cooldown.

pic 2:

  • If you channel Echo of Memory and do block something while entering Continuum Split, leaving it later will cause Echo of Memory to be on cooldown.
  • You can still fix this desaster by changing pic 2 to pic 5 or 6 (keep reading)!

pic 3 and 4:

  • If you channel Deja Vu while entering Continuum Split, leaving it later will cause Echo of Memory to be on cooldown, regardless of if you did or did not block anything.
  • Echo of Memory will not be on it’s full cooldown. It will only have the remaining time ,when you entered Continuum Split, as cooldown. So it depends on how long you wait with Deja Vu and Continuum Split, but in the end the time you wait, the time you’ll safe later, means it doesn’t matter when you enter Continuum Split. From the very moment, Echo of Memory has finished channeling, the cooldown starts.

pic 5 and 6:

  • After you channeled Echo of Memory and blocked something while entering Continuum Split, if you then use Deja Vu before Continuum Split ends, leaving it later will cause Echo of Memory to be off cooldown, regardless of if you did or did not block anything with Deja Vu.
  • You do not have to fully channel Deja Vu for this to work. You can just start channeling it and interrupt the channel with any other skill.

I hope this post is informative and useful, especially for newer players, but hopefully also for some Chrono veterans who never really tought about it.

Greez!

Thx very much for sharing this. Since I saw this post, I’ve been trying to get better at managing this.

I tend to make mistakes if I try to do too much at once, so the easiest thing for me to do is having a “fixed” rotation. Based on that, I think the best rotation is to always try to have a couple of illusions up before I start echo of memory (this means I have a few seconds in CS usually), always start CS during my echo of memory cast, and always cast Deja Vu (if available) as soon as Echo of Memory ends (and interrupt it with another skill).

That’s still quite a bit going on, but it seems like it’s the best general pattern for having Echo of Memory available after CS ends. I’m using a build where shield block is important, so I like being able to optimize around it.

Am I thinking about that correctly?
