I see QQ train coming for you.

->Mes is one of the classes (if not the number 1) that can reach highest condi dmg → will result in even higher condi dmg output with the new scaling
-> Vulver increases condi dmg -> Got it on auto +clones + 2 bounces
-> Constant reapplication of burning (which now stacks)
-> PU got 2x stealth time
-> Crit does Confusion
-> Confusion now has standardized damage.
-> Traits rearrangement makes it stronger overall

Yeah… I REALLY REALLY smell something gonna happen.

(Assuming all information to date remain the same when the patch hits, that is)

What will this actually change though? No clone death, so is your PU build just PU + staff clones? PU will still be PU, people can just walk away from you. Say Dueling+Chaos+Illusions. Yes this is a strong condi shatter bunker, but still a condi bunker. Most classes currently cannot kill a condi bunker mesmer, so that won’t change, and after the patch this kind of condi bunker build will still be unable to chase, so that won’t change either. Overall I don’t think we will see lots of QQ or things be that drastically different than it is now as regards staff condi mesmers; they will be stronger, but fill the exact same function and role as they do now, with the same overall strengths and weaknesses.

Nono. No 10 stacks of burning for you.
That burning lasts only 1 second. even if all your clones AND you would apply only burning from the RNG it’d stack up to 8 stacks.

Bleeding and confusion should be even higher though.

They will balance in a way that the auto attack do pretty much exactly same condie pressure as before. So the only improvement is vulnerability having more synergy with condies.

We will probably find it doing more damage over all. Fresh air ele maybe takes less damage, but reaper necro takes more damage.

If anything will make people QQ, it’ll be the new MtD with the improved Malicious Sorcery! Ouch! Any 3-illusion shatter will stack 8 stacks of Torment, which will tick for 2500 per second on a moving target with roughly 1900 Condition Damage.

In a Dueling/Chrono/Illusions build you have 5 shatters, plenty of Illusions, Alacrity, super-speed illusions on shatters, passive 25% speed on yourself, and of course the F5 Mechanic to reset everything. (Mirror Images)

It will not be trivial to cleanse all of that Torment, Confusion, Bleed and Blind.

Since they’re improving the scaling of condition damage at higher levels it will do even more damage than that.

Still there are a couple of issues, I think a dire amulet is greatly needed, because while the crit procs are nice, we mainly shatter our clones anyway and rabid doesn’t give us enough extra tankiness to justify running condition over power.

And I’m still not convinced that condition mesmer will be able to +1 a teamfight in an effective way. The flipside of this is being grossly dominant in 1v1s against zerker classes. Still, it will depend on the how common D/D and staff cele eles will be and how common shoutbow will be. Eles are concerning, since even if celestial gets nerfed, they’ll be able to take diamond skin if they want to, which is bad for pretty much everyone in the meta.

In a teamfight you may be able to overload a non-cele bunker with conditions, but if the warrior is blowing into his horn, and shouting at the top of his lungs, it may not do you much good.

  • Mistrust (3x AoE confusion on interrupt.)
  • Pistol trait change (50% cd on interrupt. Phants bleed on crit. SEPARATE from sharper images)
  • Perplex Runes (MORE confusion on interrupt)
  • IP baseline (more damage from F2)
  • Scepter trait (2x torment damage)

When HoT hits, I’m loving the idea of a condi staff/scepter+shield condirrupt build. Really going to have to try it out.

I’m wondering if Mistrust will get packed with an ICD. For a skill like the shield’s interrupting-wave with a nearly unlimited amount of interrupts or Gravity Well with its pulsing AoE interrupt potential… that could turn out to be one juicy, juicy GM!

I really don’t think it should. I can’t see it as OP considering our only ways to AoE interrupt come from shield, focus, chaos storm, and traited Diversion. An ICD would ruin its WvW effectiveness and I don’t think it would be strong enough to compete with PowerBlock/Chaotic Interruption (both of which have no ICDs)

We don’t discuss ICDs … especially with how often ANet’s guys like to use the bloody things. Hell, I still want the proper, no-ICD version of Triumphant Distortion that was originally mentioned …

As for the topic in general? I have to admit some of the overall possibilities might just get me to swap my condi offhand. I’ve stuck pretty hard to Focus for its AoE pull … but that new Pistol Trait’s looking hella nice.

I have my own theorectical condi builds that look extremely op right now but there will be even more condi cleanse after the changes….. in spvp where everyone grouped around point I doubt if you will even be able to apply a single stack of bleed against certain comps :C even mesmers get access to AoE cleanse from the inspiration line.
In WvW roaming I see huge potential for extremely powerful condi builds usign perplexity runes….. and there will be little counter play to them once confusion has flat damage.
