Simply an asthetic effect change request.

When illusions die, either through shatter or killed, while traiting Confusing Combatants and Debilitating Dissipation, I assume it’s the same with Crippling Dissipation as well, they sort of explode, something that has been annoying me since it really doesn’t fit with the rest of mesmer spell effects.

Would fit better if they exploded with the a similar effect to the Prestige skill, purple fire, butterflies etc.

Anyone else feeling the same or am I too obsessed with details?

You know.. That’s a good point. While I do feel like the clone-death effect should have a different animation, those explosions feel more like placeholder effects rather than anything actually Mesmer-ish. Would be nice to have a slight change.

While I agree this could be spiced up a bit and would be very cool, I know Anet is very conscious about cluttering up the screen with particle effects (this more a PvP issue).

They already explode when they die (fire effect and explosion sound) right now when you trait any of the on-clone-death traits, this wouldn’t cause more clutter, just change the existing clutter into something different.

I would love to see a purple fiery explosion / purple smoke blast / any other purple energy burst instead of the standard explosion that happens right now (I wouldn’t do butterflies, since that would be too similar to shatters). Would fit the class better, certainly. It does sort of feel out of place and like a placeholder right now.

Not sure I really expect it to happen, though. There are very few traits that actually have any sort of visual indication at all, so the fact that clone-on-death traits have one at all is kind of strange, and I wouldn’t expect too much work to go into it unless Anet decides to do this for more traits in general. Which they should, IMO, I’d like to see more visual changes with traits, but that’s just me.

I see this patch didn’t do much to the engineer placeholder graphic my illusions have when they are killed.

agree 100%, i run a phantasm clone spamming hybrid build and love all the constant explosions all over the place.
