Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
Well Vee Wee tried condishatter and it was just terrible! But Vee Wee created a new condi build and test it in PvP and it seems to be working well in both duels and team queues! But then again the queues are flooded with clueless PvE and WvW people so who knows! Vee Wee would like some opinions from experienced high level PvP Mesmers since Vee Wee does not play Mesmer!

Wahoo! Bye frands!

That’s almost exactly the same condi build I had the most success yesterday.
I’m not yet sure about the rune choice (Krait, Adventurer or Nightmare), the scepter sigil (Geomancy or Energy) and the Dueling trait I (Far-Reaching Manipulations).
And there are a lot of other combinations I want to test out
its not a shatter build rather than clone build
after patch basiacly every build with staff can do good dmg just with AA
if you want to shatter go 2,4,2,0,6 build to benefit the torment on shatter
Couple of things I would like to point out.
Firstly from the looks of mantra of distraction and CI you are obviously looking to get some interrupt game play into your build. With that in mind it might be worth switching pistol to focus, because it allows a much better pull on multiple enemies (not limited to 2 possible interrupts like pistol is). Plus with the warden fix that gives you a nice reflect when considering after the patch spvp is now full of power longbow rangers.
You could still do this and keep IE because winds of chaos with IE is great. But moving those 4 points to Inspiration then opens up some nice alternatives like a boost to scepter condi or a reflection for your focus skills or even in the adept slot a condi remove on heal (good with mantra heal).
But if you keep the points in illusions take Masterful Misdirection instead of the confusion trait which isn’t really worth taking these days.

Going to be honest, I tested condi Mesmer earlier and I gotta say, it was disgusting. Disgustingly strong.
I’m worried they will nerf lockdown/shatter indirectly to deal with this problem they’ve created because y’know. anet.
Condition Mesmer is over strong right now.
It was powerful before, but the nerf to PU didn’t actually take protection away from being permanent, it just added two cover boons.
And consider how quickly 5 stacks of torment can down someone. We tested the Scepter/Torch Staff build and that son of a gun kills people insanely fast. Think dealing with the usual BS like poison, vuln, bleeding, some chill, burning and yeah, 5-12 stacks of torment permanently.
Congrats to the undisputed king of all 1v1 now. Game over
Yep, as a Mesmer, I’m not happy about condi Mesmer >.>
Hey. “They tested it”.
Condi still has the same problems as before. You’ll figure it out
To be honest VeeWee, you’d be better off sticking Bountiful Interruption (Chaos VIII) in place of Chaotic Dampening (X). This’ll give a significant boost to your overall damage and the extra boons also help with survivability. The tradeoff is more than worth it.
Other changes you may wanna consider: Dueling II (Phantasmal Fury) benefits duelist (pistol phantasm) the most since it relies heavily on rapid crits for damage. While Null Field is good, you may find iDisenchanter to offer better boon/condi removal more rapidly in smaller scale (2 to 3 enemies) engagements.

Once again, some mesmers angry about about mesmers getting a buff and calling for nerfing. These changes are good for PVE. I am tired of PVP’ers demanding all changes being geared toward PVP.
I wouldn’t care what you wanted if PVE was separated from PVP, but it isn’t. You need to accept that PVE’ers have a stake in this, also.

The thing is condition build is mostly good for 1v1 which is not even a game mode. I never find PU condition OP at all in PvP. You actually need some skill/brain to make it work or you will just be bad to your team. And no one uses that in high end PvP.
I am also tired of ppl complaining about a build OP in a non-existent game mode.
I like having 4+ in Chaos and 4+ in Illusions for 6s recharge on Phase Retreat and Illusionary Elasticity. In my mind, the staff is now a good, threatening weapon where you AA and react to your opponent. Before it could “keep pace” but didn’t seem overly threatening.
I was playing 0/5/5/0/4 and 0/6/4/0/4 which allowed me to punish people that just AA’d to cleave through my clones. I also found it nice for those times I was “stuck” in scepter in a group fight as placing clones next to enemies results in some good AOE condition application. In addition, when you get Illusion overflow, the Illusion that dies still procs the on-death condition application.
My only issues are:
(1) I’m rusty … I just restarted playing Guild Wars 2 recently in the past week or so.
(2) Heavy condition application … I should probably do a better job of dodging their application
(3) Ranger pets … light armor and not much sustain makes them wear me down a bit even in my Rabid gear.
(4) Boon removal … I have it in spades in my power-based Shatter builds … not so much in my condition-based Illusion builds.
So instead of complaining about being buffed and potentially viable now, I’ll actually critique the OP’s build.
The first thing I notice is that your only condition removal is null field. This is really inadequate as a personal removal, and you’ll end up getting condie loaded in a bad way if that’s all you’ve got. I’d recommend taking pDisenchanter instead, keeping the boon ripping capability, but just massively increasing the output.
It’s definitely tempting to recommend taking phantasmal fury over long range manips, but 1200 range blink is so essential that I don’t think that’s really an option unfortunately.
BI vs chaotic dampening is a hard choice. BI will situationally give more pressure, but chaotic dampening is more suited to the type of attrition fight that condition builds generally get into. I’d recommend trying out BI to see how it feels, but I would expect chaotic dampening to b better.
You definitely should have 2x energy and 2x doom sigils. While geomancy has nice aoe bleeds, you’ve got plenty of bleeds from other sources, and more dodges is simply so powerful for a Mesmer build that it’s not really an option to drop energy sigils.
Lastly, I don’t personally love krait runes on Mesmer. You really rarely get to use the 6-bonus from elite activation, and that makes me feel as though they’re sorta a waste. They certainly can work, but I tend to go for either nightmare runes for condition duration on all of the conditions, or undead runes for simply more potent conditions.
What about Traveler Runes for Movespeed + Condition Duration + Boon Duration ?
Traveler are solid choice for PvP/WvW, especially if you do not use Focus.
