What QoL Changes would you like to see?
Traited Temporal Curtain to reflect at a greater height. For god’s sake, it’s supposed to be a curtain, not a skirting board.
I’m sick of getting stuck in/under terrain (under the ground/map) after using Blink or Phase Retreat.

25% Passive Run Speed Trait – Mesmer is literally the only class that doesn’t have a speed boost outside of a specific weapon skill/runes. I am so sick and tired of being pigeonholed into using a weapon/runes I don’t want to use just to keep up with my team mates in PvE/WvW(the game modes 95% of mesmers play the most….). Arenanet may not be worried about it because they only balance around sPVP but this one single problem makes me not want to play my mesmer outside of solo PvE. I love my mesmer but when I’m forced to kitten my spec just to keep up with my friends its depressing, especially when I play 4 other classes that don’t have to put up with this nonsense.

Also lack of swiftness stacking from the two poor options we do have with any other swiftness and with themselves. Its absolutely ridiculous that TC swiftness will not even stack with signet of inspiration random swiftness. This, on top of TC swiftness not stacking with any other profession’s swiftness.
I also take issue with the trait blurred inscriptions. A 1 second duration on distortion…with signets that have activation times. At the very least, the signets need to be instant cast when paired with blurred inscriptions and have at least a 2 second duration to compensate for potential lag/timing issues.
I wish Phase Retreat would teleport in the direction you’re moving rather than using a target or camera direction.
Having DE in illusions would be AMAZING. Geez, shatter Mesmers would even be able to take a condi clear with that.

Having Mirror give 2 secs of distortion rather than reflection (could be traited to reflect by masterful reflection) Would make it SOMEWHAT useful
I would love it when u get knocked back and use blink to get up quicker the camera wouldnt rotate 180 because your face happens to be in that direction..
And ofcourse:
- Temporal curtain resetting speed instead of doing nothing at all when you already have swiftness.
- Blink working on rough terrain.
- Range indicator for portal would be nice.
- Passive run speed would be nice.
- Also I’m having difficulty knowing which projectiles can be reflected/stopped with feedback and warden (traited or untraited).
Just my 2 cents.
The 25% movement increase trait would be wonderful. I rather like Deceptive Evasion remaining where it’s at though.
QoL changes.. hmm..
DE should be removed and made a permanent feature to dodges.
Wastrels Punishment needs a Buff 5% is still nothing for nearly full investment in a line.
Mantras converted to Stances would be lovely, insted of charging them you just insta-pop them and gain a passive effect, you can still use the charge mechanic while in the stance to get something else out of them. lead the back end with similar recharge rates maybe increase MoP idk..
Remove Mimic or make it useful in some compacity across all game modes, not just 1 or 2.
New weapon skills

new utility skills
Fix bugs
Add in more active defense to the class beyond praying your clones absorb a hit and confuse someone or abusing stealth..
Decrease health per pulse on Ether Signet, decrease 3s per pulse to 1s to bring it in line with all other passive heals.
Remove on down or on rally traits, probably even the falling damage trait, replace these with something useful and give some kind of interesting options to the Chaos Minor tree.
Swap Veil and that thief Stealth utility with the huge radius, mostly just so thieves have to QQ but also find a use in wvw zerging.
Speed up Scepter Auto chain to be in line with other weapon AA chains in game (its one of the absolute slowest + projectile travel time)
Fix LoS issues with AT and Pistol and Scepter where in having an enemy run to kitten degree angle of where you are facing doesnt leave you with a full CD and no spell cast, instead force the toon modle to turn and fire away (obviously this probably shouldn’t work in 180 scenarios but currently if you aren’t moving the game will do this for you in any direction)
Fix the shadow step pathing issues for good on any terrain type.
Beef up GM traits that are lack luster, Furious interruption springs to mind almost instantly. 3s of haste is almost two GS AA chains or 1 stomp.. just blah..
Rethink Shatters and Clones as the class mechanic and allow for more depth and customization of build beyond Use F1-F4 or Never hit F1 through F4.
Rethink the over abundance of Clone related or reliant traits, more power to the player vs power to the player only when the RNG gods and perfect circumstances allow for it.

I would love for my mesmer’s movement animation to continue after Blinking, instead of becoming a skateboarding frozen animation until I jump!
Not mesmer specific but I would like Build Profiles.
IE: the ability to store trait and gear selections in 3 (more slots purchaseable through Gems) profile slots (with custom descriptors/names) in the Hero tab.
That way, I can press H, then click “Doni’s super uber WvW build” when going from PvE to WvW content.
(Basically the same as the way RIFT handles multiple build profiles)
Deceptive Evasion – Move this trait somewhere in the illusion trait line be it Adept or Master. It fits more IMO for someone trying to generate clones for a shatter mesmer. Now that this trait has been moved replace it with the following under dueling:

If you move DE to illusion master trait you are going to nerf 50% of mesmer build (moistly shatter ones) and kill the other 50% (moistly cond ones).
This is not improving your quality of life, this is a suicide, a good way to kill the class just cause you lazy
FREE PYRO
I would like to see when taking the trait mtd to switch the cooldowns on f1 and f2 shatters to help with burst. Using f1 currently in a condition shatter is a loss in dps. The other 3 shatters are on a long cooldown to apply the current torment. Lowering f2 cooldown when taking mtd could help as well. (If switching is not done)

I’d argue it would open up more builds if they added run speed trait & moved DE to illusion adept. Being “lazy” has nothing to do with it. A Mesmer shouldn’t be forced to take runes of the traveler/centaur/ect and kitten his overall build just to do what every other class in the game does without trying. At most if you moved DE to adept illusions you would lose 9% damage depending on what your doing while gaining more advantages through increased choice in runes/other traits. You would still have the option of using those runes to free up more trait points, especially if your going shatter build. The only thing it may seriously harm is the old Blackwater builds that many people, even fellow mesmers, considered toxic for the class.
The only reason why i suggested moving DE in the first place was because how arenanet operates. Knowing them if they ever put the speed trait in, they would put it in the same spot as DE, effectively not improving anything for any builds.

I think the entire design of mantras is just terrible.
1. Channeling
2. Empowering Mantras trait: pressure to only slot one utility type to get decent dps
3: Empowering Mantras trait: pressure to not actually use your utilities at all
3: Mantras being the only utility type that does any “interrupting”…synergy w/interrupt traits
If you can’t tell….I absolutely hate mantras. Yes the power build damage was nice for my power/phantasm build in pve, but in the end, I just dislike being forced into that route and the mechanics of it so much that I dropped all mantras and went to a lesser damage output build.

They could solve the speed issue easily. Just fix signet of inspiration. Take some of the junk boons off of it (random swiftness, retaliation, single stack of might, 5 seconds of fury) and just make it give a passive 25% run speed like other light armor profession’s signets. Oh yeah..the 3 seconds of protection may as well go to…or increase the duration. They could even go a different route, and make it give 2-3 boons at a time…with a high probability that one will be swiftness. They really could fix this if they felt like it.
Portal – Have some sort of range indicator so I can tell if I’m out of range to place a proper exit portal.
Blink – Sick of being punished on this skills max range due to something with the terrain.
^ This! portal has had terrible QoL for too long now, I usually have to put a personal marker on the minimap to remember where I left the portal entrance!
Also with blink, even a red AoE marker for ‘unblinkable’ places would be nice, I’m sure people will argue l2p but its still a QoL change.
One last thing.. Arcane Thievery not bugging, going on CD at max range, randomly missing and seemingly being blocked by Aegis would be nice.

Arcane Thievery at least doing the condi removal …even without a target would be amazing. It should do the condition removal no matter what…target, no target, out of range, etc.

Arcane Thievery – decrease cool down and increase range
Mimic – decrease cool down a lot to make it use able
and lastly, which should have been fix a long time ago, weapon CD trait and Illusionists Celerity, when they are stack they should show the proper cooldown

How about the skill template system from GW1? Having to completely retrait/reskill between modes or in fractals is slow and annoying.

moving de to adept minor illusion trait it’s fine, moving de to master minor illusion triat its a suicide.
You suggested both options.

FREE PYRO
I’d like our Phantasms to have a darker purple dot on the Illusion bar. Sometimes I can’t see exactly what I have out and it would be nice to just have quick reminder to see that a light purple dot means a clone and a darker one means a phantom.

Mantras with partial charges regaining their remaining charges outside of combat:
For example, a player finishes a fight with 1 charge left on his or her Mantra of Recovery. As soon as he or she goes out of combat, Mantra of Recovery goes back up to 2 charges (or 3 if traited for 3).
This is much better than having to re-equip Mantra skills and re-charge them in order to avoid recharge times.
What I am not suggesting:
Uncharged Mantras gain charges outside of combat: Mantras shouldn’t gain any if they haven’t even been channeled yet. I believe this would keep this quality-of-life change as balanced as possible in terms of PvP and WvW.
This way, players who disengage after having blown all of their Mantra charges will not be able to re-engage with fully charged Mantras without having to actually channel them.
Alote of the points brought to the table are awsome & lots more i cant even begin to mention. But i want to adress another issue i have with mesmers, espacialy the asura types. (THERE ATTACK ANIMATION) that lack lusters humph! into it compared to the other classes. I mean check out the humph on the hammer when it lands on you. It gives you that satisfaction when you hit your target. Same goes with the thief when he delivers that awsome burst on you. Not to mention the ele or the Eng..should i continue? But our pew pew launched by a mesmer espacialy the asura ones are kinda meh… to say the least.
