It doesn’t matter. Whichever race you like the look of the best.

Hmm the only racial I can think of that would actually be useful is:
Asura Pain Inverter
or Asura Technobabble

I can’t say if some of the other races might have any racials that would also work out, but those came to mind

It doesn’t really matter, check out the different animations. Asura look kinda funny/cool with blurred frenzy because they like float while doing it, haha. But, greatswords on them aren’t that cool cuz they’re pretty small in my opinion. There are lots of human and asura mesmers out there already, though, if you want to be different! lol

Asura so that your animations are as small as possible, we tend to have very slow and clearly choreographed weapon skills which can make them quite difficult to land, whereas say a warrior can just whirlwind out of nowhere, or stun you with shield/bulls rush almost instantly.

I would hardly call bull’s rush instant.

I love my sylvari mesmer but I rarely use the racials. Random cool thing though:
Take root for the elite summons 5 seed turrets while making you IMMUNE to dmg for 3 seconds. Turrets proc a bleed for some bonus dmg can stack up to 14 bleeds. This is affected by your condition dmg. The power dmg of 300 that doesn’t crit is not based on your power.

That is 3 more seconds of letting your now 8 minions tear someone apart.

Avatar of grenth seems like it could also be useful for condi builds or maybe even power builds. Pulsing poison and chill (not easily accessible for mesmers) could be useful. I’ve also heard good things about snow leopard for the Norn.

It’s quicker than the one second (!!) phantasm summon or the slow moving magic bullet.

AFAIK there is no racial that is so good that it replace a class skill in just about any build. You only have 3 slots and all 3 are important. The elites are quite worthless compared to class elite. Why for example Norn animal forms isnt a regular skill is completely me. It would actually be fun on a lower cooldown.

Other than that, I say max size Norn for hardcore mode.

Also, the boobs.

But its really only about the look, racials are rarely used.

Occasionally i use grasping vines, which is a 7 second immobilize on 45 cooldown. Great for the dredge fractal boss and grawl prisoners :P

edit: I think humans have bigger boobs than norn actually… Relatively.

Its a fun idea in theory, then all 7 of them die from one AoE attack.

But I have to give you one point – Charr in light armor look hilarious. I mean a Charr in heavy armor is an imposing and mighty Warrior you really dont want to mess with, a Charr in light armor look like a kitten your 5 year old sister has played dress up with.

The only racials i could think of any use for a mes would be

-Asura: Pain Inverter (AoE Confusion), Tecnobabble (3s Daze) Radiation Field (gives you access to poison).

or

-Norn: Snow Leopard elite form. For the most imba escape skill in the game when roaming in WvW.

Anyway, go for the look imo.

Yeah snow leopard is crazy. but i use it for my necro (a necro with disengage ability is kind of OP).

My mesmer us human by the way. Actally doesnt matter just go for the looks

Asura are harder to target in wvw, spvp/tpvp although if their gear is harder to see because of their size.

That’s disturbing…

The Charr racial skills are quite good on a mesmer, specifically Battle Roar and Hidden Pistol.

Battle Roar provide the mesmer with a source of Fury which is normally hard to obtain. Combined with Signet of Inspiration, Battle Roar can provide 4 stacks of Might and 12 seconds of Fury to allies around you. This works really well with the Chaos Maestro and Bountiful Interruption builds.

Hidden Pistol is just a neat utility to have. It’s an extra evade on a short 15 second timer. Mesmers are hard to hit to begin with, this just ups the survivability of your mesmer even more. To top it all off, it’s also a projectile finisher.
