.. If you had two Mesmer on a team, and both of them HAD to run different builds, which would you have them run?

(This can be for any gamemode as long as you specify which you’re referring to.)

Personally I’d go with one of tyhe following..

• Shatter + Lockdown (anything and everything dead on sight in a massive flavor of the month burst)
• Boonshare x2 (Surprisingly good mix of durability and damage. Two boonshare Mesmer can take on more than two opponents easily.)

For WvW? I’d probably go with one Lockdown and one Condi-spec.

I think Boonshare + PU shatter would work nicely. With PU, you miss out on the might-stacking from CI. The Boonshare Mes provides sustain, the PU Mes provides the pain. A condition spec would work wonderfully with boonshare as well. People sometimes forget how greatly might affects conditions.

Suppose it depends on the team comp. A good boonshare mesmer could easily sub for a bunker, especially if they’re with the other boonsharing as you said. If there’s a good D/D ele on the team, I’d take the boonsharers in a heartbeat. Ele+Boonshare is a beautiful thing and usually leaves you with a constant 10+ stacks of might and the ele almost always having around 25.

If your team is unorganized though, bursters probably would do better since when rotations fail, killing fast is usually a nice substitute. At least that way you won’t have any delusions about which way the match is going after a while.

Honestly, I think any 2 viable builds will be better than any 2 of the same build.
Not because 2x super-shatter isn’t roflstomp in 2v1, but because of what Tealots is implying: any build has weaknesses, and they can make up for each other.

Personally, I’d pick a lockdown and a condi. Lockdown is too strong right now, and it makes up for one of the biggest weaknesses of condi: cleanses. Lockdown gives wider windows for condi spec to be stacking and ticking. Meanwhile, the durability available to condi allows the condi mes to watch the lockdown’s back, making up for the lockdown’s biggest weakness: he’s made of glass.

I can’t speak to sPVP, but I know I’d love to run my condi mes alongside a lockdown in wvw.
I bet we could 2v3 a lot of matchups.

On the last ESL NA tournament, one team had 2 mesmers which they used to great effect! But they had exactly the same build (mantra).

Phantrupt + Boonshare.

Glamour Support Shatter (Null/Port/TW/Medic); I’m biased towards condi shatter, but you can go double ranged Dom/Due/Ins or Classic shatter with Due/Ins/Ill.

A friend and I ran 1 PU condition build and 1 Boonshare and found them to work pretty well together in roaming.
