Why a blind trait and only 1 blind skill?
Hi, mesmer skills that causes blindness are: Chaos armor, The prestige, Magic bullet, scepter block-counter spell; and a signet of midnight. I would say that is quite enough skills for that trait.
also one of the traits for glamour skills “blinds targets at the target location” So there in we have additional skills that blind… Null Field and feed back to name too more.
Hmm Yeah I forgot to look at weapons that I do not use.
I did mention the glamor trait.
I run a glamour build and love it. It just sucks that it takes up 2 slots to make it work.
Idk to me it still seems like maybe f3 started out as a blind.. that would make so much more sense to me with that trait.
Also, why Confusing Cry give retaliation (which scales with power) in a condition tree? There’s tones of messed up trait mesmers have that defy logic.
I know! I try to make a new build.. maybe try something out that traits 30 points in 1 tree only to find it corresponds with something 30 points down another and maybe 20 in another lol. It is scattered everywhere!

It’s an attempt to make different viable builds.
If they took all traits that increased condition damage (for instance) and put that into a trait line that has +condition damage and +condition duration as the two base bonuses you begin to limit the amount of viable builds, and you end up with just one or two super builds, that everyone uses.
You can see this in other mmo’s where there is the “right” build and everything else is subpar.
Now don’t get me wrong, this also exists to a degree in GW2 but based on the number of different builds floating around out there Anet is doing a pretty good job at build diversity. (having no damage meters helps too.)
That, at least, is the theory.
With just signit of midnight, the prestigue, and sceptre 2 I can pretty much shut down some bosses in dungeons etc.

You know that blind only has a 10% chance to cause a blind to miss, right? It’s good but it can’t shut down bosses like it can do other mobs.

wat?
anyways, the blind trait is probably designed to synergize with the trait that blinds on glamors, and we have plenty of those.

I think this maybe incorrect. The blinds have always missed.. but it is only for 1 attack so even if there is time left they only miss 1 time and the debuff wears off. I never have seen a % associated with it
Bosses (and champions) have the Unshakable effect: “Gains defiant when targeted by crowd control skills. Blind is 10% effective. Weakness and vulnerability last 50% less time.”
Ahh I was thinking against players (wvw) more than bosses.

yeah i stupidly forgot that on a champion in the norn start area with my lvl 80 thief today… thought i could just go in and permablind him with black powder (pistol #5) and lol and beyond i got downed pretty fast trying to do that :P

Mesmer blinds are nearly synonymous with confusion because of the traits.
Which incidentally relates to here for discussion on making confusion more usable in PvE:
