After being gone for a bit (smite on Xbox ONE will do that to you) I come back to see.. Nerfs? o_O

Whats changed for Mesmer in the past few months?

Chronomancer came on —- hype.
Then few nerfs mostly on visual side – not much to worry about.
Mesmers are in good position atm I think.

Mesmers were as strong as other classes in PvP so it got nerfed.

This nerf was applied to the PvE skills as well.

One of the nerfs broke the stun on break Well of precog so now its worthless and when they fix it in 9 months the cast time will still make it hardly worth using.

PvP players think Teams made of nothing but Tempests and Revs are healthier then Chronomancers and Revs thus giving away it was never about the strength of the build but that fact it was a Mesmer. Granted this was obvious when teams before HoT consisted of 5 cele eles and the calls for nerfs were still directed at Mesmer.

Mesmer meta in PvP is now bringing inspirtation and Well of precog and trying to get on enemy teams so you can use distortion to stop the team from capping.

Chronobunker was a thing. A really, really big thing.

Then they nerfed it yesterday. The usual Anet “why change one thing at a time when we can change 3?” kind of nerf. We’ll see if the build survives, but Well of Precog sounds pretty damaged now.

What’s happened is that I have no idea how to play Mesmer/Chronomancer anymore so I just stuck with Ranger/Druid — when I can.

Yay chaos, come backkkkkk.

Yeah basically every pro-leauge ESL team on both EU and NA ran 1 or 2, but usually 2 chronomancer bunkers and nearly every game either went to time or was decided with the first cap, creating a horribly boring to watch and play metagame at all levels of play. One team even forfeited after the first cap because they knew they couldn’t come back from it. Meanwhile in normal league queues it just became extremely unfun to fight against since chronomancer could hold points indefinitely and almost never die, while having the support potential to get almost any rez for allies.

WvW seems pretty dead by the community and I think chrono is the meta tank in raids since they have alacrity and whatnot.

Basically helseth started the bunker Mesmer craze, and everyone modified his builds with mantras and glamours to be stronger. Power Mesmer doesn’t seem to be worth running and condition Mesmer seems questionable but could make something work with viper or wanderer, but only the team with the lowest proleague rating has been really experimenting with that.

Rev received slight nerfs but I expect them to still be common in all game modes, just that Mallyx will be easier to kill with condis and they won’t have the cheese Rez infuse light proc on down anymore.

Welcome back!

Yes, basically you missed the most boring and least diverse meta of all time. I think 6 or 7 out of 8 teams in pro league EU ran

  • 1 bunker chrono
  • 2 condi revenants
  • 1 tempest
  • 1 scrapper (or 1 druid)

and 6 or 7 out of 8 in NA ran

  • 2 bunker chrono
  • 2 condi rev
  • 1 tempest
    (even the abjured, except with a scrapper instead of tempest).

A large majority of the games ended up because of the timer (it was not rare to see 0 caps for the first 8 minutes). And overall, this was absolutely boring to watch.

Well of Precognition and Echo of Memory/De Ja Vu were changed in such a way that they were nerfed in sPvP, whilst being nicely buffed in PvE.

The Well of Precognition change was also a nice buff for WvW. Once you and your chums are in it, enemy players can’t even CC you now with Static Field, Line of Warding, Unsteady Ground etc. It’s hilarious.
