are mesmers the weakest class
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJTjZ2yriM20o_36MZmMTuA/videos
And you are able to catch them all witout trating bad stats or missing high valuable utility?
It’s all in the 20/25/0/0/25 guardian meta build.
However aegis and burning aren’t 100% uptime either i guess. I know guard can grant both of it, but guards self aegis is the only one that stays for a longer dura and if it’s gone, it’s gone. I’m not sure about the burning though. But I guess it’s more a 50% uptimer?
Burning is pretty easy to maintain since you proc it on every fourth hit (and this is assuming no other players in the group who inflict burning with their skills), and unscathed contender really depends on the fight. There’s quite a few Arah fights where it’s quite easy to maintain and then there’s fights like Wraithlord where he attacks so frequently it’s basically impossible.
Mesmer modifiers are in general 2-3 mantras + 2 illusions yes. Makes 19%. Ugh.
Also the modifiers for the mesmer are not as noticable as those for the guard (split dmg).
Mesmer modifiers aren’t as noticeable because they’re basically nonexistent. Mesmers seriously have horrible damage modifiers. Compare it to slashing power, berserker’s power, attack of opportunity and stick and move on warriors (38%) – these are all incredibly easy to maintain since you either build up adrenaline early on, use healing surge so you can start the fight with full adrenaline – and then you cause bleed on crit so attack of opportunity is basically always on, you dodge in fights (or you can double dodge before hand if you don’t need to) so stick and move is an easy modifier and slashing power is just a passive 10% on greatsword simply for having the thing equipped.
Well that thief just dealt 200’000 damage in 10 sec. That’s 20’000 DpS. And what did the rest do? I’ve seen same damage from eles so …
So the thief did what you claim a time warp does just by themselves, and the other classes just did their thing. If the thief can do this consistently in every fight with no cooldown, why take the mesmer? It’s basically a repeating time warp, and you don’t have to take a zero DPS class to do it.
Team with 4x 10k dps + 1x 20k dps = 600’000 damage in 10sec.
Team with 4x 10k dps + 1x 5k dps + TW = 675’000 damage in 10 sec.
Ignoring the fact that a mesmer sure does more than 5k dps aswell that the thief never does double damage of the rest makes the mesmer with TW even stronger …
And then you remember that you can’t time warp every single fight, mesmers are slow on skips, and the optimal class composition for damage is triple ele, warrior, ranger. If time warp was so good, we’d be using mesmers more often, but it’s just not worth it if it means dragging along a zero DPS class.
Yea sure … wake up plz and join the reality. Time Warp is the strongest dps Elite in the game. As I mentioned b4:
Fiery greatsword is the strongest DPS elite in the game.
You lose.
If I only think about fotm there are more than enough places where the guard just does not have enough reflection to safe the team, won’t matter against what, a huge crowd of ranged enemies like dredge, harpy, grawl or just a single target enemy where the mesmers dps anyway is higher than the guards. I don’t know what you did with your mesmer, maybe just the lack of 10k+ nubers after a 3~ sec animation.
Emphasis on “mostly”. There are situations where you need a lot of reflect uptime, and mesmers can be pretty solid there since they can achieve unbroken reflect uptime (feedback > warden > signet > warden > curtain is what I do on Alphard solos, by the time curtain finishes warden #1 starts spinning again, warden #2 stops then warden #2 starts). We think mesmer can be pretty decent in fractals but we have no problem doing them without.
What you’re also forgetting is that time warp completely messes up skill rotations too. My rotation on warrior is axe 2, mace 4, gs 2, gs 5, gs3, weapon swap (cancelling whirlwind mid-cast), axe 2, axe chain, axe chain, gs 2, gs 3, gs 4, axe 2, mace 4 etc.) the reason why this works is because when you switch to GS you hundred blades for 3.5s, rush for 1s, whirlwind has a 1s cast but by the time you cancel it, fast hands is off cooldown. Axe chains are 3.6s each and are heavily backloaded which is why after the first GS burst I do two chains. Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is time warp throws that all completely out of whack. You get stuck camping GS, you get stuck camping axe. A rotation is a ~10% DPS increase over sitting on just axe and time warp massively disrupts the rotation.
Game over, yo.
PvE’ers will disagree but personally i don’t think PvE should be a deciding factor in terms of balancing.
Balancing should always be done with PvP modes in mind because that’s where it really matters (especially when you want your game to be an e-sport…).
No most PvEers have been saying that PvP and PvE skills should be split for awhile now so you can balance PvP without screwing up PvE.
The problem hereby is that ArenaNet counts WvW as a PvE mode so while they would be balancing PvP, WvW would be a total disaster.
So they would also have to balance WvW seperately or put it together with PvP.

It all smoothly went from PvE leveling to Dungeons then to WvW to end up in personal attacks and “I know this better than you” ’ .
To OP – In an orgnized setting, Mesmers will be phased out of PvE content for most dungeons, only few being an exception (and some fractals). If a mesmer is only taken for reflect, a guardian can do it better and deal more damage, have more accessible active support.
Not sure about ranger’s dps compared to mesmer’s in a speedclear setting, but I guess you’d better take a ranger for the prec buffs rather than a mesmer (rangers do have reflects too).
I have 3 reflects, 4 if you include my reflect heal. Pretty sure reflect is mesmer’s job on dungeons.

For PVE lets do easiest calculation and see mesmer place.
How many players of same class are good in dungeon group without making it redundant.
War 1-3
Ele 1-2
Guard 1 rarely 2
mesmer 1
Thief 0-1
ranger 0-1
engy 0
necro negative number
Cute, a PU clone-death spammer pretending to be skilled.
Cute, a player that thinks he’s better than someone else by putting down others.
I play PU condition. I also play phantasm builds. On occasion, I play shatter and lockdown as well, but I don’t like those as much.
Do you think that I’m not skilled because I prefer PU condition and phantasm builds? If so, I invite you to put up or shut up.
PU condition is a disease in this game. It requires little to no skill. I would assume anyone who plays this build does so because they lack success in a more skilled build.
Its true, PU condition is a spec that requires little skill, but its arguably the most effective spec for fighting 1vX. That’s the reason you see so many Mesmer’s running PU. There’s nothing that can compare to it. I roam with Shatter in WvW and constantly will get backstabbed for insane amounts of dmg. Or if you play phantasm – they’ll die to AOE’s. PU is inherently a broken trait, + the ability to generate Aegis + Protection and an additional second in stealth makes it invaluable.

nerf is incoming for sure

Mesmers are in a bad place DPS wise thanks to most encounters killing our main source of dps (phantasms) rather quickly.
Group support I’m pretty sure we have the best aoe condition removal of any class, making us useful in that regard. Then we have TW, another amazing group buff even after Anet gutted it. Then we have tons of reflect, the boon sharing signet is amazing.
Mesmers are great to have in your party… you just dont want more than 1.
As long as you use TW, the buff signet, trait for focus reflect, retool accordingly for each fight (do you need condition removal / reflect?) than you are pulling your weight. If you aren’t then yes you are a waste of space and DPS.
fight! fight! fight!
